Why at this moment is theatre education more important than ever?
Children need their imaginations exercised. The dence, and social skills are incredibly important to all children: children in years and children in heart.

in many aspects of their personal future endeavors. As a teaching artist, the skills I help to develop are rooted in vocal dexterity, physical expression, imagination, focus of attention, and cooperation. Whether your goals are to become a garbage collector or the President of the United States; whether you want to be on your church’s Praise team or audition for the next Broadway musical, the activities and lessons we provide build skills that can help.
What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy and my job as an educator is to bring forth that which is inside of an individual.
Why at this moment is theatre education more important than ever?
As the world advances in technology, theatre education is rooted in fundamental laws of respect and communication with others.
What motivates and inspires you?
I am motivated and inspired by the smiles of my students. The discoveries that they have and the sense of accomplishment they acquire from reaching the goals that we set together.

To instill a lifelong love of the arts through creating cate the whole child.
Why at this moment is theatre education more important than ever?
We, as people, are meant to connect with our world. In the midst of our current holding pattern of isolation, there has never been a greater need in most entertainment, and connection to the world.

She has a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Wright State University. New York City theatre credits include The Cherry Orchard, The Top Job, and Edward II. Most recently, she appeared as Emma in Lizzie at The Human Race Theatre Company and as Adult Alison in Fun Home at Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati.
Regionally, she has performed with many theatre companies, including Commonwealth Theatre Company, Athens West, and here at TCT in Disney’s High School Musical ON STAGE! You can catch her
The Bourne Legacy, TV and web in Unforgettable and Dominatrix Breakroom (for which she also wrote), and commercials for Time Warner Cable, Sleep Inn Hotels, and MoveOn.org. You’ve also probably heard her on the radio in various commercials. She has taught at several high schools in the area, as well as mommy and me classes with Little Maestros in NYC.
Why do you want to train the next generation?
I want to do my part to make theatre welcoming, inclusive, and used as a tool to free the voice.
What is your teaching philosophy?
Encourage the student to know their own strengths and be able to harness them.
Why at this moment is theatre education more important than ever?
Theatre is such a good tool for opening up. Engaging creatively not only allows a person to share their story, but also to problem-solve off the stage in a new way. Right now, we’re met with all kinds of problems we’ve never faced before and introducing a new way of thinking can help us adjust to that.
What motivates and inspires you?
Kids stepping into their personal power.

Why do you want to train the next generation?

Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale (Aaron Grigsby), The Snow Queen (Prince Kai), Heart Attack with a Knife (Thomas Aykle), Spamalot (Lancelot), Rock of Ages (Lonny), Alice in Wonderland (The Cheshire Cat), and Elf the Musical JR. (Buddy). James is excited and proud to work with The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati as Creative Project Producer, and as a Resident Teaching Artist each summer with TCT’s STAR Programs.
Why do you want to train the next generation?
Every artist...every person is unique in their own way. We ALL have something unique about us that makes us different, whether that manifests in the form of places we’ve traveled, experiences we’ve had, or the people we meet. For me, teaching the next generation is a way to pass on my unique experiences as well as learn from the students and their experiences.
What is your teaching philosophy?
I was once told, “Let your students grow and bloom er.” This has stuck with me ever since. We all have our idea of how to teach someone but, once you meet that student you can’t always use the same tactics and techniques you used on the last student. I pay close attention to what the student needs and wants from me and then I help that student grow and blossom to become the best version of themselves.
Why at this moment is theatre education more important than ever?
Not just in this moment, but in every moment, theatre arts and education is important. Art helps us work out so many things in life. From understanding someone else’s point of view to re-enacting something at equations. Theatre isn’t always just on the stage...it’s all around us, all the time.
What motivates and inspires you?
From project to project, inspiration can change drastically. Sometimes what motivates and inspires me could be a physical object such as a cane or a hat. The next time I work on something my inspiration could be a conversation I had or a person I met. As long as teeth in, that is what matters. And if that story is a success then...I am motivated to create even more

Why do you want to train the next generation?
I was so fortunate throughout my formative years to have conscientious mentors, who helped clear a path for my future, and provided a roadmap for how to get there. It’s my privilege to pay that forward.
What is your teaching philosophy?
Personalization. Each student learns differently, and it’s incumbent upon educators in my opinion to meet students at their level and modify teaching strategies based on the needs of the individual student(s).
