The Cicely Saunders Institute is a purpose built, world leading institute for research in palliative care and rehabilitation, and an official collaborating centre of the World Health Organisation. Our institute brings together academics, healthcare professionals, community organisations, patients and carers to deliver cutting edge and high quality research. By studying for your PhD at the CSI, you become part of exciting and ground-breaking research projects which not only influence clinical practice, but national and international policies for palliative care. The institute offers an outstanding multidisciplinary environment, combining epidemiology, social science, psychology, nursing, medical and health services research. Our PhD students benefit from the extensive range of training and support provided both within the institute and throughout King’s College London. The internal programme of researcher development includes monthly journal clubs; researchers meetings; skills development workshops; clinical update sessions; peer support group; and our open seminar series, which hosts a variety of high-calibre and international speakers.
