Lifeguard Training • Ages 15+
Location: Dan Oden Swim Complex
The American Red Cross Lifeguard training class provides life-guard candidates with the skills and aquatic knowledge necessary to keep patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around water. This course teaches lifeguarding skills, first aide and CPR with an AED for infant, child, and adults. Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies and provide care to injuries and sudden illness until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. The American Red Cross will issue certificates upon completion. Prerequisite: Must have the ability to swim 300 yards (12 laps in the JLHS Pool) and the ability to retrieve a 10 pound brick from the bottom of the pool. Must be at least 15 years of age by the last day of the class. Fee includes books, certification fee, facility use and pocket mask. Attendance and participation is required at all mandatory class meetings. Dragon Fish Stroke Clinic
Times: 9:30- 11:00 am • 4 classes
The Dragon Fish stroke clinic is for more advanced swimmers and is designed to prepare swimmers for competitive swimming. Emphasis will be placed on refining and improving competitive strokes and conditioning. This will be helpful to keep in shape and prepare for the upcoming season in the summer. All athletes must be able to swim one lap of crawl stroke and one lap of backstroke comfortably. CODE
