Water Exercise

This class takes place in chest deep water and the buoyancy of the water creates a state of near weightlessness so it is ideal for people who need low-impact workouts. Aerobics in water provides resistance, helps tone muscle and exerts force that helps to improve blood flow and lung function. Water exercise provides a challenging workout without the impact and joint stress of land based exercises- it is not too hard or too easy! Non-swimmers are welcome! NEW!! Members of the Ruggieri Senior Center and Mark Green Sports Center get a discounted rate of only $25 per session!! Must show Center ID at time of registration to get discounted rate. CODE

MARTIAL ARTS

Pallen's Martial Arts

Jordan Pallen is an 8th degree black belt and a successful world and national competitor. He is a two time World Stickfighting Champion and a three time National Stickfighting Champion. In 1998, Jordan was ranked the #1 Super Heavyweight Champion in the National Black Belt League, a prestigious national open karate league. Presently, he is the successor of Professor Max Pallen, Grandmaster of Senkotiros, following his footsteps towards mastery of the single stick and close quarter combat. Professor Jordan Pallen’s teaching experience includes instruction at all levels at the Pallen’s Martial Arts in San Leandro and Antioch, CA since 1983, specializing in children. Professor Jordan’s philosophy is that children learn best in a fun AND structured environment. The “fun” is essential in order to maintain a child’s motivation to learn. The “structure” is important in order to teach a child discipline and responsibility. Professor Jordan has been providing many of San Leandro’s elementary schools with exciting and innovative martial arts after-school programs since 1998. Professor Jordan holds black belts in Kajukenbo, Tae Kwon Do and the Philippine Martial Arts. Professor Jordan studied at California State University, Hayward, where he majored in the physical education program with an emphasis on athletic training. Professor Jordan Pallen is a strong advocate of family values, discipline, respect and community service. All of Pallen's Martial Arts classes are held at the Holly Community Center, 31600 Alvarado Blvd., Union City, CA

The nutrient-rich soil amendment is produced from food scraps and yard trrimmings collected from green carts set out each week by Union City households.
