What’s new with one2one MOPS? During September, nine (9) of our MOPS mums headed off to Deep Creek Anglican Church in Melbourne for our 2-day MOPS State Conference – for some encouragement, inspiration and networking with other MOPS leaders around Victoria. The one2one MOPS team was responsible for preparing a fun icebreaker to warm up the 80 participants attending. A special thank you to our organising team: Laurinda Coulter, Karen Ekberg and Aileen Shearer-Cox, who came up with a very creative idea (that even included slime and iced water), that tested even my organising abilities! The one2one leadership team was also privileged to be invited to deliver the key 2013 theme presentation at the start of the conference. One highlight was an impressive video of some of our very own one2one MOPS mums sharing some of their thoughts and experiences with parenting, MOPS and connecting with God. A job well done to Laurinda Coulter for her presentation and video compilation skills (even after losing her voice one hour prior), and to Karen Ekberg for rounding up mums for the videos. one2one MOPS meetings will re-commence Term 4 on Tuesday 9 October, and we look forward to some fun, informative mornings together. This month, we will begin with an important topic for all mums: practising self-control. This one is sure to generate lots of great discussion! We will also have a special Tea & Testimony morning, where two of our MOPS mums will share how God and their faith in Him has impacted their lives – especially during some challenging times. We would appreciate your prayers for our MOPS mums’ hearts to be touched, and that they would also seek their own personal relationship with Jesus. Our MOPS Bible Study program will continue in Term 4, where we will focus on the topic of “Patience”. Please continue to pray that this program will draw our MOPS mums closer to God, and His Word will continue to encourage and help them to grow spiritually. God has been doing some amazing work in the lives of those MOPS mums who have been participating in these studies in the last two terms, some of whom are not yet Christians, but are finding out how relevant God’s Word is to their lives. If you are a mother of pre-schoolers (or know someone who is), and haven’t checked out one2one MOPS, why not come along and join in the fun, in a relaxed, welcoming environment? Your first meeting is FREE. Your children will enjoy their very own MOPPETS program, where they can make some new friends, and participate in fun, age-appropriate activities. Please contact Janine Davidson, MOPS Co-ordinator for further details.

one2one Mission Story of the Week A story received from a Kids Hope Aus. Mentor/Coordinator Tom had an hour of playing educational games on the IPad, baked choc chip cookies for the class to share and chatted about the Olympic games and his favourite sports with his mentor. He was very sweet, using his manners a lot. (can be rather demanding & naughty in class). During this hour he told his mentor ‘ he was saving money in his money box to buy her a present’. The mentors comment to the coordinator was ‘how gorgeous’ Being a Kids Hope mentor is very rewarding not only for the student but the mentor as well’. If you, or someone you know, would like to be a mentor please see Janet Jones, Kids Hope Coordinator. Please note: There will be a Kids Hope service at 10am on Sunday 28 October.

Operation Christmas Child Final, final day for shoeboxes Fabulous contribution everyone – we’ve surpassed our record for donating shoeboxes of love to Operation Christmas Child! Today is the final day to get any late boxes into church. Any boxes after today please contact Gayle Prollius on 0417 581 415 to make arrangements to drop your box off at the Ballarat collection centre. We will be notified in due course of how many boxes of love were donated by our one2one church family. If you wish to make a monetary donation to Operation Christmas Child these can be placed in the mission envelopes and placed in the offering plate today.

40 Hour Famine A big congratulations to all those who participated in the 40 Hour Famine this year, as a group we were able to raise $1307.45, which is an awesome effort!! Big thank you to those who donated to a participant. I know that this money will be a blessing to those in Ethiopia. Laura Bennett

Fishes and Loaves Our next Cook-Up is planned for Saturday 13 October. If you are available to assist please contact Leon Cottle, Email: lmcot@netconnect.com.au

What is Your Gift? As you can imagine in a church our size we wouldn’t be able to function without the many volunteers that contribute week in and week out. We thank God for those who are committed to serving Him and his people. There is always a need for more volunteers in a variety of ministries and currently there is a particular need for: Helpers for both the 10am and 6pm services People to prepare communion Off Stage Supervisors (training can be provided) Musicians Carers for creche and MOPS Leaders for Girls Club and Boys Club Home group leaders If you would like to be more involved and have been attending our church for many years, or even if you have just started coming recently, we’d love to hear from you! You can complete a Gifts & Ministries form available at the Information Desk or simply write a note on your Care Card or put a note in the Communication Box, or phone the office during office hours or send in an email. We have many parts in the one body, and all these parts have different functions ….. so we are to use our different gifts in accordance with the grace God has given us. (Romans 12:4-6a)

Church Library Our library is full of a great variety of books, DVDs and videos for people of all ages. Please feel free to help yourself by filling out the card at the back of the item and placing it in the box when borrowing. Remember to return any over due books as soon as possible. Thank you.

Lost Property Lost property items can be found at the bottom right hand corner of the pigeon holes in the foyer including bibles, clothes, drink bottles, toys, glasses, etc. Anything of value will be kept in the office such as jewellery.
