Linda Gomez- Evans was born November 17, 1982 in San Joaquin county. She was welcomed home by her three brothers and her only sister Eva. Linda was loved immensely by her mother Gail and her father Rich with whom she was extremely close to.

Linda and her siblings grew up in Hemet, CA where she attended Hemet Middle School. Linda’s sister has fond memories of riding their bikes and catching Linda steal her clothes.

As life takes many turns, Linda never got the chance to attend a traditional high school as she ended up in the system and was incarcerated at 12 years old. Throughout her incarceration her parents supported her.

Linda was Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo and connected to her culture through fancy dancing, which she held sacred and dear to her heart.

While incarcerated and in group, Linda saw Angelique walking to the law library one day. They locked eyes and the rest was history. Their friendship grew into love.

While Linda and Angelique had been together since 2018, they made it official on Valentine’s Day 2020. Angelique and Linda were inseparable. There are very few pictures you can find of each of them where they are not without the other. The only thing they loved more than each other was their community and justice to which both of them committed their lives.

Linda was the Civic Engagement Coordinator at Community Coalition of South LA, her second home. Linda helped train hundreds of organizers and worked on numerous campaigns that positively impacted the lives of Black, Brown, system impacted, and low-income Los Angelenos.

Linda was also a co-founder of the Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition. Linda believed deeply in the leadership of incarcerated people. With Angelique, they founded three LA Sister Warriors chapters and brought hundreds of individuals to the Sister Warrior family.

Linda was also an amazing and understanding mother to J’Mari and Jeremiah. Linda was patient and had a way with the boys. They loved her dearly and will miss her tremendously.

Angelique fondly remembers Linda’s love of swimming, long eyelashes, and musicals, Annie and Grease were her favorites. While they enjoyed spending time watching movies and shopping (or at least Linda loved shopping while dragging Angelique along), what they loved more than anything was being together, which they did until Linda was called home.

Preceding Linda in death is her loving father Rich. She leaves behind her wife, Angelique Evans, her sons; Jeremiah and J’Mari, her mother; Gail Gomez, her brothers Paul Gomez, Anthony (Heidi) Gomez, Fred Gomez and his children; Steven, Jonathan and Makayla, and her sister Eva (Eugenio) Aramula and her children Elena, Eugenio and Elyana, as well as her grand niece and nephew Kut and Paa’kal. She also leaves behind a host of friends, Sister Warriors and loved ones who will miss her so deeply.
