Program Note Friends, thank you for coming to join our musical climate reality movement. At Chameleonic, we believe that singing is the best vehicle for social justice and change in the world; and our world is changing every day -­‐ both for the better and the worse. We have seen marches and demonstrations and worldwide outcry over the climate realities that humanity now faces by our own doing.

While it's true that we are largely responsible for what has happened and for the dangerous cycle of deterioration that is underway, the spirit of the music in this concert is not one of penitence and self-­‐loathing. It's much deeper than simply going out and buying blue recycling bags and starting a composting bin. In order for change to happen, we must first look further within ourselves and surrender to our own vulnerability as part of the Earth. This music calls us to re-­‐connect with the Earth from whence we came. It asks us to "Sing, Be, Live, See" and to attune ourselves to "the heartbeat of God," which is, in this case, the observance of the passing days "From Light to Light." The journey of preparing it to sing for you has not been long in terms of days and weeks; but in a sense, we've been preparing for it all of our lives -­‐ since before we were alive. This concert is not about money, fame, or politics. It is our unspoken, yet palpable story as living, breathing beings -­‐ told in the best way imaginable: through the music of human voices.

Chameleonic Chameleonic was founded in 2012 by Vince Peterson and several members of the celebrated NYC-­‐based vocal ensemble, Choral Chameleon. It's purpose is to challenge the traditional boundaries of choral music concert programming, and to cultivate the most style-­‐savvy and technically sound singers, and to use the music of human voices as a vehicle for social justice and healing in the world. Its members represent all five boroughs of New York City and a joyful tapestry of cultures and musical backgrounds from theater, to opera, to contemporary, popular, and obscure sensibilities. The ensemble is often co-­‐led through the rehearsal and performance process by Vince Peterson in tandem with other professional musicians from the Choral Chameleon roster who sing, conduct, play, write, arrange, and administer -­‐ all on a volunteer basis. Members of Chameleonic have appeared in performances throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, in live-­‐streamed concerts online, and on UpFronts for The Weather Channel. In March of 2015, Chameleonic will co-­‐participate in the US Premiere of Roxanna Panufnik's innovative and theatrical piece, "Dance of Life-­‐ Tallinn Mass" in New York City at The DiMenna Center.
