If you were absent Last Wednesday…. 1.You need to fill out the Career Cluster Inventory found at http://nvcis.intocareers.org/

2. Head to NCIS Junior

3. Choose “Option 2” on this screen and enter the following information. For town– Las Vegas, Zip Code– 89106, Area Code– 702

4. Now choose, Career Cluster Inventory (on the left hand side). Read the instructions and get started.

After the inventory, you’ll see how you scored. Click on the category you scored the highest in. If you scored the highest in a bunch of categories, just pick the one you like the best. You’re now ready to rock and roll with your project.

How do I begin my Project? First, log on to your blog. Now, open a new window with Internet Explorer. Type http://nvcis.intocareers.org/ into the address

bar. This will take you back to where you can access your information. Log on, if you can’t remember what you need to input, turn to “If you were absent Last Wednesday” in this guide book. You should see this screen once you’ve finished. Click “Occupations” on the left hand side.

You should now see a list of career choices. Remember you titled you blog post with the career path, right? Look on your blog and find out which one it was and click if from the list.

How do I get started (cont’d) Once you choose the career path, the list will expand to show jobs inside that career. Choose any job that you wish to get started. This will also serve as the answer to question A.

Now, look on the left side of the screen. Do you see the blue text? You’ll find ALL the answer by clicking and reading the text. Be patient. ALL THE ANSWERS ARE THERE!

How do I edit an old blog post? 1. Log into your blog! 2. Go to your dashboard. 3. On the left hand side, find “POSTS” 4. Click on “POSTS” and it will expand. You’ll see “EDIT” 5. Click on “EDIT” 6. Find the name of your post 7. Underneath it there will be four options : Edit, Quick Edit, Delete, View. 8. Choose “Edit”

How do I add a picture? Since the school computers won’t let you right click and save as and you don’t have access to images, you are going to have to use Wikipedia. 1. Keep your blog open and open a new Internet Explorer Window. 2. Type “www.wikipedia.org” in the address bar. 3. Search for the career choice in Wikipedia. (If you can’t find a picture of the career choice, then search something that someone in that profession would use. For example, a hairstylist uses a HAIRBRUSH, a carpenter uses a HAMMER, etc.)

4. Once you find your picture, left click on it until it’s the only thing left on the screen. 5. Now left click on the picture and hold it down. 6 Move the screen so that you can see where you have typed in your blog. 7. Drag and drop the picture into your post.

Left click on the picture and hold down. Then drag it to the post space and the picture will be added.

How do I link? Linking will take your reader from your blog to another website using some highlighted text or a picture. 1. Keep your blog open and open a new internet explorer window. 2. Type www.google.com in the new address bar. 3. Go and find a website that has something to do with your career . 4. Once that is done, head back to your blog.

5. Once you’ve found a website you like, highlight the text that you want to link in your blog by LEFT CLICKING , HOLDING, AND DRAGGING.

How to Link (cont’d)

Now that the text is highlighted, do you see that there is a “chain” that appears on your tool bar? Click this.

Now you see a box like this. Where it has LINK URL, type the address of the website you want to send people to. For TARGET, choose “OPEN LINK IN A NEW WINDOW” TITLE, type the name of the website you are sending your reader to. Don’t worry about CLASS, just click INSERT on the bottom left corner.
