Ah April, a month that begins with the invitation to laugh, joke and even pull a well-intentioned prank on others. It’s the signal that the first quarter of the year is truly well and behind us, and often the point where one might find themselves in a little bit of a slump. I find that typically around this time, that the once staunch determination behind New Year’s resolutions has worn off, a mild panic that we are almost halfway through 2025 slowly sets in like a chill in your bones on a windy, winter’s day. With that, we hope to remedy some warmth and excitement back into your lives with our selection of adventures and activities featured around Borneo this issue! You may have also noticed a departure from our usual cover style; in honour of Ocean Week and the wonderful work being done by Poni and others, we pay tribute to the critical ecosystem and beautiful bodies of water that surround the island. Golfing may be deemed a demure, gentlemen’s game but out here in Borneo, we’ve discovered there are a plethora of thrilling experiences to be had. From jungle golfing to incredible ocean side swings, you’ll find that golf is neither boring nor typical on the island of Borneo. International Women’s Day has also recently passed, and in celebration of the other 50 per cent of the world’s population, we’ve delved into chats with some wonderful women who we think have represented 2025’s theme of #AccelerateAction incredibly well. Across food, fitness and more, it was truly inspiring to pick the brains of these strong women and we hope regardless of your gender, that you will find their stories equally good brain fodder. As always, we thank you for continuing to read with us and look forward to entertaining you over the next quarter!

This new feature offers an impressive host of publications for you to enjoy on your flight, as well as enhanced features such as text-to-speech, translation tools and section indexing for a seamless reading experience.
Anewly revamped e-Library is now available to all Singapore Airlines (SIA) customers through the SingaporeAir mobile app. Designed to elevate the reading experience, this digital upgrade provided by PressReader lets passengers easily browse or download as many titles as they want from over 1,400 periodicals from Singapore and overseas.
To download publications onto the SingaporeAir mobile app, customers must initially connect to the internet. Once the files are saved to your device, they can be accessed at the “Downloaded” section within the e-Library.
Passengers can download their preferred publications starting from 48 hours before and up to 30 days after their flight (two days for the general public; seven days for KrisFlyer members; and 30 days for PPS members). This extended access ensures that the e-Library is more than just an in-flight feature – it’s a companion for the entire journey.
SIA’s new e-Library hosts an impressive and well-curated selection, including international publications like The Economist and The New York Times, and a suite of periodicals from SPH Media, including The Straits Times. The titles available appeal to a wide range of interests, covering 31 categories that include leisure and lifestyle, business and finance, food and drink, news and politics, as well as computer and technology; they also come in various languages.
Even with such a rich repository, SIA plans to gradually add more publications to the e-Library in the future – a testament to the airline’s commitment to provide premium content to its customers and stay ahead of evolving passenger expectations.
Beyond content, SIA’s e-Library raises the bar with usability enhancements. New features such as text-to-speech, translation tools and section indexing make navigation seamless, catering to a global audience with diverse needs.
Other nifty features include an ability to read an article in text view, which presents the content in a simplified text-only format, stripping away the design elements and complex layouts; and Smart Zoom, which automatically moves the zoomed-in view to the beginning of the article. Whether reading for leisure or staying informed on the go, passengers will find the upgraded interface intuitive and engaging.
With these updates, Singapore Airlines reinforces its commitment to anticipate and provide for the needs of its customers. By seamlessly integrating traveller insights with a commitment to premium experiences, the airline proves that even digital touchpoints can and should be as meticulously curated as the journey itself.
It was an electrifying experience that brought together budding musicians, vocalists, and songwriters under one roof. Designed to inspire and empower local talent, the workshop organised by BRUriginals provided a hands-on approach to mastering music production, performance techniques, and creative collaboration. Participants not only honed their skills but also connected with like-minded individuals and industry professionals, creating a thriving network of artistic growth. The event highlighted the unique flavours of Brunei’s music scene, reinforcing BRUriginals’ mission to elevate local artists onto larger stages. “It was truly fulfilling to see so much creativity and passion from the participants. Partnering with Nol K of Jawbreaker Studio, who brought his expertise and energy to the table, made this experience even more impactful,” said Ahmad Anwar Rosly, founder of BRUriginals. “This is just the beginning of our journey to build a stronger, more vibrant local music scene,” he observed, adding that workshops like these were essential in nurturing the creative community, proving that Brunei’s talent is both diverse and world-class. For music lovers and aspiring artists, this was a space to create, innovate, and be inspired—a testament to BRUriginals’ unwavering support for the local music scene.

Festival-goers packed the Temburong Sports Complex area in celebration of the inaugural Irau Tupeh Padey event last year with the sound of raucous cheers from the thrilling tug-of-war and strongmen and strongwoman emanating across the complex area. Literature on Borneo just got a serious bump up with the launch of the Dayak Architectural Heritage (Khazanah Arlksitektur Dayak) book! Helmed by Yoris Mangenda, a Kalimantan architect of Dayak heritage, this incredibly comprehensive tome adds credible depth to the information available about Borneo’s Dayak culture. This book aims to showcase the diverse architectural heritage of the Dayak people in Kalimantan, explained Mangenda, who added that it was compiled through the collaborative effort of 14 authors from various backgrounds. “This book serves a simple purpose: to fill the gap in comprehensive archival and documentation of the diverse Dayak architecture that still stands today. I believe that with a solid foundation of documented knowledge from the past, we can certainly strengthen efforts to develop knowledge for the future.”

It seemed almost magically impossible to watch hot air balloon pilot Allie Dunnington from Bristol, U.K., float down to the lawns of Jerudong International School, Brunei. And yet the intrepid self-described adventurer did just that - making this her 118th
Brunei won big at the Ultimate Beatdown 55 competition in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, last November with both fighters from Wolfpack MMA gym clinching their respective fights in what is known as ‘ Malaysia's Premier Grassroots Fight League’.
Azizan Ariffin, 31, thrilled spectators while making his MMA debut in the Below 77kg category, with a win via stoppage using a front rearnaked guillotine submission at the second round against opponent Amar Putra from Malaysia. Danyal Johan, 28, won by unanimous decision with a dominant performance over his challenger, Eugene Sow from
country flown in a hot air balloon, and the first person ever to fly a hot air balloon in Brunei Darussalam. Dunnington’s flight in Brunei was part of her journey to break the world record for the most countries flown in a hot air balloon; the global record of 127 countries previously held by an equally adventurous spirit –Dunnington’s husband. This flight also marked her the first person ever to fly a hot air balloon in Brunei Darussalam. Early in the morning, Allie prepared her hot air balloon on the JIS campus before ascending and gliding across the V Block field. The balloon’s flight, from one corner of the field to the side of Osprey Boarding House, marked the first step in adding Brunei to her growing list of countries.
Reflecting on her experience in Brunei, Allie remarked, “Every step has been a highlight. It’s

Watching the students' reactions to the balloon was incredibly rewarding.” The flight also highlighted Allie’s mission to encourage more women to take up ballooning and aviation. Reflecting on her nearly 20 years in the field, Allie pointed out that when she first started ballooning, she noticed very few women in the field. “That’s why I set up events and opportunities like this to encourage more women to take part.”

We could be seeing a lot more foreign business investment from Indian companies and brands over the next few years, as a recent business mission led by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and the Indian Economic Trade Organisation (IETO) landed in the Sultanate to explore Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) opportunities between the two countries. President of the Indian Economic Trade Organisation (IETO), Dr Asif Iqbal, described the delegation’s visit as a reciprocal initiative that builds on the foundation set by the meeting between Brunei’s and India’s leaders earlier in September — the first by a sitting Indian Prime Minister to Brunei.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Brunei really put Brunei on the map for Indians,” said Dr. Iqbal. “From there, we have seen the doors opening; first with the flights (to Chennai), and now with BEDB following through with these
strategic engagements.” After the BEDB-hosted seminar in Chennai, Indian companies wanted to see Brunei first-hand, he added, noting the diversity of the delegation.
Dr. Iqbal added that the IETO, which represents a network of 800 Indian businesses, including diaspora-led businesses operating internationally, would facilitate more members to visit Brunei in the near future. “This is my first visit to Brunei, and just from this, we already have a number of Indian companies developing proposals to set up here”.

Animals have long been an important part of Borneo island’s cultural legend and the fearsome, slithering Nabau is no exception. The awe-inspiring mythical creature is said to be a huge water dragon or snake that is the guardian of the jungle’s waterways and the community who protects them, bringing natural disasters like floods or landslides if angered or disturbed. The Nabau is also said to be able to shapeshift into humans and other creatures, and can transform into a python. If a small snake is spotted near these depths, the community of the Ngaung Keruh village in Kalimantan Barat, believes it to be one of Nabau’s servants. Despite being a wellknown legend in Borneo’s tribal culture that also features heavily in local art and craft, stories and documentation of the Nabau vary across oral traditions thus making it difficult for a cohesive collection of facts that can represent the island’s history. Dian Hardiyanti, an independent researcher, and ethnoecologist Ditro Wibisono P. attempt to bring some clarity and vital connection between persevering the legend and the region’s natural ecology, in their latest research paper,
“Nabau: Ecomythology of Bornean River Deity”.
“My personal interest was to dig into the wisdom about stories behind the Nabau pattern,” explained Hardiyanti. The pair made often long and difficult journeys to personally meet and interview the remaining master weavers living in remote kampongs, collecting stories and data that could give them a greater insight into the legend and use of the Nabau icon in tribal culture while connecting it with local contexts on weaving and global issues like climate change and biodiversity threats. The image of Nabau frequently appears in various forms of visual art and handicrafts, according to their paper, most commonly in tattoos, woven bemban mats, textiles, and wood carvings. “When a weaver depicts the Nabau in their weavings or mats, they must always create pairs — an even number of serpents. If only one is illustrated, it’s believed that the spirit within the design will haunt the weaver,” it is noted. A villager from Dusun Lauk Rugun is said to have recounted that Nabau’s spirit appeared in the dream of a weaver, claiming her as his bride and threatening to take her soul into the realm of Nabau — the spirit world.
The new article also delves into the link between the Nabau’s supposed lair and
the “thalweg” - a term for the line connecting the deepest points of a river, often where the flow is fastest; there perhaps is a certain purpose or reasoning for this correlation to the ecologically significant feature of a river’s topography especially when it is considered that the ‘thalweg’ plays an important role in shaping the riverbed and creating and supporting the river habitats of many species. “Historically, Bornean communities have cultivated a symbiotic relationship with their rivers, guided by traditional ecological knowledge and the Nabau myth,” Hardiyanti and Wibosono point out, adding that the communities’ sustainable fishing practices and careful riverbank management reflect a profound respect for the waterways, recognizing their dual nature as sources of sustenance and potential danger.

Life on an island is never dull and with the different nation-states of Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia all located there, it’s truly an amazing mélange of cultures and experiences that make for endless, exciting adventures. Surrounded by some of the world’s best ocean life, Borneo is teeming with fun ways to explore the open water. The island is uniquely surrounded by a number of seas, including the Sulu Sea and South China Sea to the North and Northwest, the Celebes Sea and Makassar Strait to the East, and the Java Sea and Karimata Strait to the South. Diversity is the keyword here, and there is tons of it in the surrounding waters of Borneo. Scuba diving or snorkeling are two ways to easily get yourself immersed and there are heaps of options for each level of comfort in the water. Sipadan, Semporna and Mabul, in the Sabah region are of course world-famous for their incredible diversity and quality of deep ocean life; diving with barracudas? Check. Might discover some incredibly tiny wildlife down in the ground on a muck dive? Double check. Sipadan is a location best recommended for experienced and certified divers, but you can do snorkeling activities here around the over-water chalets that dot the areas around Mabul and Semporna.
The river tubing near Batu Langara Hill and Riam Hanai Waterfall in South Kalimantan are also fun options with slightly more rapids to take on. Both have incredibly rugged, wild landscapes to make you feel like you’re floating through the set of Jurassic Park in real life. For more freshwater fun, why not try renting a kayak or bamboo raft to explore the Upper Sarawak River area? You’ll get to see the rugged junglescape up close as you make your way along the pristine shallows of Semadang River.
Back on land, there are equally endless ways to experience Borneo and its unique terrain. Hiking is a favourite pastime of many Borneans for good reason – it’s an inexpensive way to get amongst the lush nature of the island, whilst getting fit. Favourite spots in Brunei include the Bukit Sipatir and Tasek Lama routes which have fairly well-marked paths that can accommodate most people’s levels of fitness. Some even bring their young
kids here! You’ll find stunning views of the Brunei River on one side and the sprawling city of Bandar on the other, at the topmost points of Bukit Sipatir, which has dedicated rest and photo-taking spots, perfect for the important Instagram updates). The Mulu Gunung National Park not only has the incredible cave structures underground, you’ll get to see some of the most incredible views hiking to ‘The Pinnacles’; 45-metrelong limestone spikes jutting out of the earth like some backdrop of a Lord of the Rings movie. Covering an area of several kilometres halfway up the mountain, these unusual formations can take a few days to reach, as you hike out of the Mulu National Park Headquarters to Gunung Api where they’re located. Much of the trail is described as tough travelling for around three days and two nights typically, and requires an almost vertical climb in some parts, so this one’s not for the faint-hearted or unfit. Be prepared with all the essentials you’ll need to survive the elements as well in the simple open-air huts along the journey.
Go in search of orangutan and endangered jungle animals by visiting a national park or taking a wildlife tour. There’s truly so much to see, especially if you’re a nature or wildlife enthusiast! The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre based in the Sandakan district of Sabah, and the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in Kuching, Sarawak, are two wonderful sanctuaries for orphaned and injured orangutans. You’ll get a special opportunity to observe these critically endangered primates up close and in their element. Try a wildlife walk in Temburong where long-armed gibbons call out through the early morning mist with their unmistakable calls. Visitors can take guided
Are you ready to get to your own little slice of paradise? The Pitas Floating Coral Bar is a dreamy destination you’ll definitely want to return to; the naturally occurring coral bar in the Tun Mustapha Marine Park is just 30 to 40 minutes away from Kudat’s coastline in the state of Sabah, Malaysia-Borneo, and this one-kilometre island is beautifully surrounded by shallow water corals and crystal-clear ocean water as far as the eye can see! Jet here for the day to luxuriate in this private tropical paradise that looks and feels like you’ve gone on a magical journey to the Maldives or Caribbean. Whether it's sipping on a cool beverage in the lounge chairs, going for a swim, snorkel or stroll around the coral bar to check out the marine life, or even just enjoying a relaxed paddle in a glass kayak, this is truly a Borneo adventure you won't want to miss out on!

Sustainability is often thought to be just about saving energy and reducing plastic use, but it encompasses much more.
Poni Divers have been leading the conversation beyond just the ocean. It’s estimated that 90% of coral reefs will be gone by 2050, which for Mother Nature, is just a blink away. We are witnessing an increase in extreme weather events, including more frequent forest fires, increasingly devastating floods, and rising sea levels. The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030, Brunei's Wawasan Brunei 2035, and Net Zero 2050 highlight the global push for environmental responsibility. However, local businesses often struggle to find practical solutions to meet these goals.
Poni Group and other local ecopreneurs have risen to the challenge with innovative solutions. Poni Divers, a small dive center founded in 2009, started their ESG Journey with Brunei's first International Coastal Cleanup in 2011, the first ghostnet cleanups in 2013, and the first coral program in 2014. By 2023, Poni had engaged over 8,000 youths in ocean conservation, launching several innovative programs, including the Brunei Reef Ball Program. This initiative has planted over 1,200 corals & deployed 190 reef balls, creating artificial reefs that support marine life. To start your own Eco Journey or your workplace’s ESG Journey, find an environmental cause that you or your workplace can be passionate about or, simply join Poni to save our ocean!
In 2024, Poni Group launched Ocean Week Brunei in partnership with the Dept of Fisheries, MPRT, a collaborative event bringing together businesses, government, & the public to celebrate & protect the ocean. The event featured reef building & coral planting workshops, a conference, and a youth forum. It’s set to return this year with new topics like ocean careers & ocean media, offering opportunities for businesses & individuals to participate or pledge support for ocean protection.
Beyond ocean conservation, Poni Adventures has also expanded its focus to ‘people
sustainability,’ organizing corporate teambuilding, HR workshops, and even Corporate Family Days for up to 1,200 participants since 2012. These workshops emphasize mental health & well-being, both important components of a sustainable workforce. To get your workplace started on their ESG Journey, the first step is really just everyone to first learn about SDG, and then to get an ESG Committee in place. And for that, Poni Adventures have just launched their SDG teambuilding workshops with their Singaporean SDG educator partner, TERRA and are collaborating with UN Global Compact (UNGC) to provide ESG training for company personnel.
Poni Group’s efforts also include expanding its marine engineering division, Poni Marine, to offer environmental consultancy services. For businesses looking to be more environmentallyfriendly, their services can assess and mitigate environmental impacts, both at sea & on land. To help local businesses reduce their carbon footprint, Poni’s new innovation hub, ASTARI, has partnered with Jejakin from Indonesia to provide AI-driven tools for automated carbon emission measuring, reporting & offsetting through activities like coral or tree planting. With EGB Engineering from the UK, ASTARI also consults on longer-term decarbonization strategies including industrial process changes or machinery upgrades for alternative fuels. To climate proof your business, ASTARI also works with EarthSight International from Canada to predict & prepare for natural disasters like wildfires or flooding with AI-driven satellite data analysis. However, before diving into ESG efforts, it's often best to start with a materiality assessment to develop your own ESG roadmap for your workplace and this is something that you can start on together with ASTARI.
Poni Group is dedicated to empowering a sustainable future. But building a future for everyone goes beyond just reducing your plastic use, it’s about getting yourself, your friends and your workplaces onboard and looking at these ESG solutions from all angles. Are you ready to kickstart your ESG Journey and build a sustainable future?

A Bruneian favourite is the divine, slow-cooked broth infused with aromatic spices, and served with your choice of noodles– bihun, mee kuning, or kahwin. It’s traditionally topped with shredded chicken or beef, but if you’re feeling adventurous, try Soto Brunei Special – a trio of beef, lungs, and tendons. Top it with lada rindu for an extra, fiery kick!
Taste the legacy of Borneo! We’ve curated a top selection of flavour-packed dishes that promise an unforgettable gastronomic experience, celebrating the essence of Borneo’s traditional cooking and sweet delicacies. Do keep in mind that while some dishes may share similarities due to regional influences, refined cooking techniques bring out their own unique textures and flavours. Each dish has its own story and identity, while beautifully reflecting the shared culinary heritage of Brunei, Sabah, Sarawak, and Kalimantan.
Deeply rooted in the Banjar community of South Kalimantan and Borneo, this is a unique take on the classic laksa. Unlike coconut milk-based varieties, this version features a clear, spiced broth infused with the fragrant aromas of lemongrass, turmeric, and galangal. Served with rice noodles, shredded chicken, hardboiled eggs, and fresh herbs, it offers a lighter yet equally satisfying flavour.
Soft, gooey, and entirely tasteless–you either like it or you don’t. Twirl the sago starch around the linked bamboo chopsticks (chandas), dip it into a sauce, and swallow it whole. Best enjoyed with a variety of dipping sauces and side dishes, you can never go wrong with the iconic tempoyak (fermented durian) for a heavenly balance of sour, spicy and lingering sweetness.
A sweet delicacy wrapped in simplicity, ethnos this traditional BruneiTemburong snack. Made from a mixture of glutinous rice, coconut milk, and palm sugar, it is cooked until it reaches a sticky, caramel-like consistency (burnt caramel colour) before being wrapped in banana leaves. Enjoy the classic version, or try exciting flavours like yam, pumpkin, or durian.
Not your usual crackers that’s dry or oily, this traditional “wet” cracker skips the drying process entirely. Made using freshwater fishes (Belinda and toman fishes found only in the headwaters of Kapuas Hulu), the fish is ground, boiled then steamed until cooked. The result? Bite-sized uniquely chewy delicacy, best enjoyed with the classic peanut sauce.
Bananalicious! A legendary street food from East Kalimantan, these bananas are pinched flat before being grilled over charcoal. Once perfectly caramelised, the piping hot bananas are generously drizzled with a luscious coconut milkbased sauce that harmonises beautifully with their natural sweetness.
Derived from the Hakka pronunciation meaning “mixed beef”, such as stew meat, meat balls, tendon… you name all the beef parts, may be in this particular beef soup. This beloved dish from Sabah is deeply flavourful, thanks to its diverse selection of beef parts simmered together in a rich broth. It’s so versatile that it goes well with everything, from pairing it with noodles, rice, or even slurping it up on its own.
Steam these glutinous rice cakes, and your entire kitchen will be filled with an irresistible aroma–a sure sign that this traditional treat and snack is worth a try! A traditional kueh of the Kadazan-Dusun people, this naturally purple glutinous rice cake gets its vibrant hue from the rice itself. Wrapped in banana leaves and steamed to perfection, its addictively chewy texture is complemented by the luscious coconut milk.
A staple for the Kadazan-Dusun tribe, this dish is the living-proof of resourcefulness in preserving fish for longevity. Local basung (bigeye scad) fishes are preserved using takob-akob (wild mangosteen) as a natural souring agent, giving it a distinct, tangy flavours that will have your taste buds tingling. The unique preservation method not only adds depth of flavours but also reflects the tribe’s deep connection with nature and traditional practices.
Now this is what you call a traditional snack! Closely associated with the Melanau people of Sarawak, these rectangular biscuits are traditionally slightly yellowish (though they come in other colours too!) are crisp, flattened sago biscuits with a sweet and toasty flavour. Cooked over a wood fire before being dried, it's a delicate crunch that pairs well with coffee or tea.
Chicken cooked inside a hollowedout bamboo stalk– how’s that for authenticity? Originally created due to a lack of kitchen resources, Manok Pansoh has now become a cherished dish for its unique cooking method and rich flavours. Marinated with bold, aromatic herbs, the chicken retains its natural juices resulting in a dish bursting with succulence and fragrance.
Bihun and belacan? The name might catch you off guard with its bold ingredients, but once you taste it, you’ll be surprised at how you savour every last drop. The rich, umami-packed belacan -based broth, paired with an array of toppings like century egg, blanched cuttlefish, fried garlic, and freshly chopped cucumber, is the ultimate comfort food—a deeply satisfying bowl of flavour.

Tawau Golf Club is a real hidden gem for golfers on the island, and has two golf courses within the club’s compound – perhaps the only one! Serving guests since the late 1960s, this veteran club located in Sabah’s third-largest city has a heap of amenities and facilities to keep everyone entertained, even if they’re not heading to the green. For golfers, this is a captivating experience to play surrounded by the vibrant nature of Sabah, plus some local wildlife to boot! Don’t be surprised by the sound of hornbills calling out from the trees, or at the sight of local macaques making their way across the serene pathways. It’s described
as a fun and challenging course with hilly terrain that requires you to exercise your skill and strategy throughout. The combination of the height, the lush scenery, and the hidden pond at Hole 3 adds an exciting layer of complexity. Focusing on the view ahead instead of looking down is a great tip, especially if vertigo is a concern. Using a mid-iron should give you enough control to land safely on that narrow strip. Just be mindful of the side bunker—planning your shot carefully will be key to avoiding trouble. And that undulating green will definitely require some strategic putting! With such a huge expanse of ground to cover across the 9-hole Town Course and the 18-hole Hot Spring Course, there are thankfully buggies to get around, plus the nearby hot springs make for a wonderful place to unwind after. From a self-described Biology geek to fabulous fitness trainer, Raifanna Buntar found her calling thanks to gym buddies and competing in Crossfit and weightlifting. She’s dived into her role as a personal trainer and co-founder of the popular women-only ‘Ladies Strength and Sweat’ class at the PEAK family club, and most recently as new mum to her daughter who made a starring role in her Instagram workout and weightlifting videos as the unmistakable baby bump. Although she is certainly not the first or only woman to be working out during pregnancy, her dedication to doing so while building and supporting a safe women’s gym space with the motto that ‘movement is for everyone’, is admirable. We sat down with the petite force to be reckoned with, for a chat about all things health, happiness and motherhood.
Really nice to meet you! You impressively documented your first pregnancy journey on social media where you were not only working out well into it but also weightlifting. It was genuinely inspiring to see. What are your reflections looking back on that period?
RB: Honestly before I got pregnant, I didn’t have much knowledge about pregnancy and fitness so I was kind of scared. Because, you know, fitness is like my life. I’m always at the gym or working out. I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to do the things that I used to do. I knew of a few ladies who went to the gym during pregnancy. But I only had the basic knowledge of their practices like lowering weight limits or not doing things as extreme. I did take some time to process things at the start and it was definitely quite scary. But along the way, you kind of accept it and learn your body better. During the first few weeks of being pregnant, it was just about learning my body, symptoms and researching things before I actually did any weightlifting. I guess other people maybe didn’t share their journey as much so I guess that’s why people are quite surprised when they saw me doing it. But actually, it’s fine to continue as long as your doctor says it’s okay. And that you don’t have any complications in your pregnancy. It also depends with how you were before pregnancy.
Were you kind of surprised at how much you were able to achieve still?
RB: Yeah, actually I’m quite surprised. Cause I really didn’t know much. I just thought, you’d get a bump and have some symptoms. Some people might see those workout posts and go “Oh! That’s heavy and she’s doing when she’s pregnant”. It looks scary to others but everyone is different. I believe that a lot of the things we go through (during pregnancy) are also because of our mentality. If you believe that the pain or symptoms are going to stop you from doing things then that’s how it is. And of course, I understand that we need to know when to rest or push ourselves as well. I’d say, for me, I just tested things out.
You mentioned that being pregnant and going through your fitness journey at the same time was very humbling for you.
RB: Yeah, definitely. I think during pregnancy was okay actually. I think I feel like I still have my strengths during pregnancy. Postpartum was much harder because that’s when I rested a longer time. I worked out throughout my pregnancy and during postpartum, I had seven weeks of no workouts at all. After that, I just started out with like really light weights, much lighter than during pregnancy even. When I just started going back to the gym, holding a 2.5kg dumbbell felt like a 10kg dumbbell so that definitely was humbling. But it didn’t make me feel down.

Sometimes, diving into the unknown can be the best decision ever. For Jacqueline Fong, her love of artisan crafts and Bornean weaving in particular, led her to leave a lucrative job as an Investment Banking professional to eventually co-found Tanoti Crafts, a social enterprise arising from the now defunct songket weaving workshop of the former Queen of Malaysia, in 2012. Based upon a core value of “doing the best work we can in honouring the purity of craftsmanship of our ancestors”, Tanoti Crafts has grown to incorporate over 500 women artisans from 25 communities across the state of Sarawak. Jacqueline also has managed to achieve her goals of producing a musical based on the weaving of songket fabric, and opening a flagship store in the metropole of Kuala Lumpur – all in the span of a year! We take a moment to reflect with her on the beauty of transformation, having the best of both worlds meet, and taking risks to showcase her beloved songket fabric and weaver community.
The mottos of your former alma maters, Santa Maria College and RMIT University in Australia, are all about “acting with courage and compassion to enrich our world” and creating “skilled hands and a cultivated mind”. How did those educational environments impact you and have a role in the way you approached investing into and later building on, Tanoti Crafts?
JF: I went to boarding school at Santa Maria College when I was 15 - the first time I lived away from home and the first time I was in a foreign environment and faced with foreign cultures. After graduation, I entered the workforce and found that I had lacked skills in Finance, and hence enrolled into a parttime Masters of Finance with RMIT University - arguably the only academic qualification which I had funded myself. Both educational environments were presented with a desire to grow beyond my standard being and a need to assimilate. It was important to immerse myself in a culture foreign to what I was used to in order to gain new insights and learn new things about myself. I learned that the combination of diversity and everyone being out of their own comfort zone, are keys to fostering a deeper sense of empathy and a shared drive to seek solutions which address the larger common purpose.
During your time as Director/Co-Founder of Tanoti, you also made some forays into the corporate side of hospitality and oil and gas. Are you a corporate girlie at heart who loves the office vibe, or were there other considerations that led you to taking on those roles?
JF: I find a characteristic of my personal
construct to want to participate in two worlds. On the one hand, I revel in the idea of cutting corporate deals; and on the other hand, I enjoy working with artisan communities and particularly seek opportunities to create. These two worlds hardly converge, but I look forward to a time in the future when they will finally comingle.
Dreamweaver : The Musical, is a truly unique production that encapsulates the heart and soul of the textile crafts you are working so hard to preserve and protect. Why did you feel compelled to foray into that format, to showcase the craft?
JF: "Craft content" is something which I had long wanted to develop. Producing songket is so time-consuming and getting these pieces to be sold is also indeed so hard. I was eager to test the thesis that consumers of handicrafts do not need to be the traditional buyers of handicraft products; they can also be an audience who pays to watch the story of crafts performed by weavers and featuring handwoven fabrics. The idea of producing craft content did not actually start from Dreamweaver - it started from a performance by our pua kumbu weaver Helen Manjan at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019. Subsequently, during COVID, we delved a bit deeper into this concept by producing our first music video "Rhapsody of Weaves", followed by a short documentary "Dreams of Cloth and Colour".

When Labibah and her now husband Azim embarked on their business journey together in 2018, she admits that they never expected to reach where they are today. Despite a long family history of working in the food and beverage industry, she admits that owning her own food business was never a part of her plans as Star Anise originally began simply as a way for her and her husband to help Labibah’s mum, Satrani, sell the food she loved to cook as a hobby. The college graduate originally intended to work in communication but in the true spirit of rezeki, having faith and the support of the community has given Labibah Shafiee all the confidence and confirmation that she firmly belongs in the world of entrepreneurship.
I guess we’ll just get stuck into it – how did you get started with the business and what’s the Star Anise brand all about?
LS: It was to create a platform for my mom, because she likes to cook and she would send food to the kedai runcit (corner store). But she was wondering why she wasn’t making money. You know elderly, they always put a huge portion and say “Sedekah, sedekah” (laughs). My husband Azim, loves my mom’s cooking and wanted to help make it into a proper business. We started off from a Gerai Ramadhan with little to no knowledge of how business runs. My mom would cook, I would do the accounting and seeing how much are we spending for ingredients, and Azim did the photography, marketing and looking out for spaces (to pop up at). The first place was at Gerai Ramadhan Rimba if I’m not mistaken. We didn’t make any money and I think it was
even in the negative (laughs). When Azim was still studying in Universiti Teknologi Brunei, he was handling the MPP café there and he saw the canteen had a kitchen area that’s not being used. So, he asked them if we could run the kitchen with my mum doing live cooking, in return for paying rent which they agreed to. When we started at UTB, she actually enjoyed it but we still weren’t making any money or barely breaking even despite all the students coming to buy from us. It was actually Azim who saw the ad for the newly renovated Kontena Park and pushed us to apply for it. I was really skeptical, plus we were still students at the time. I’d just graduated in Communication and Media, and was taking a break for a year before I continued on to do my Masters. Azim was still studying Entrepreneurship at that time – he’s recently finished. I would say he’s the spark.
The spark? Can you elaborate?
LS: My mom and I, we’ve lived together as a mom and daughter, and my grandma used to own a restaurant in Seria for 20 years. But it was not at the back of my head that I wanted to own a restaurant. But, when Azim came into the picture, he said “Oh wait! Mom, you can do this. Labibah, you can do this. And I can do this. Why don’t we do it together?”. So, I feel like the gas is always there, but you just need a spark to fire it up.
Kind of sounds like the dream team! When you were watching your grandmother in her restaurant, and your mom helping her - what were your impressions growing up being in that environment?
LS: Our family has always loved food. We would go around to eat and try out different
types of cuisine. But to do that as a career path, I didn’t see myself in it because, my parents advised us to be a doctor, engineer, or do other things. Being a cook or a business owner, it’s not just in the list. When she knew we were doing this full-time, she was the happiest person and kept on saying “Oh! How I wished you guys were already around when I was still working and running my shop”. She was really proud and happy that someone actually pursued doing what she did and creating a legacy in a way.
Let’s go through the menu. Is there a favorite menu or item of yours that you have created, or that was passed down from your grandma, that you think is like highly underrated?
LS: Well, there’s actually like two items that aren’t in the menu yet ‘cause I’m still trying to perfect it. But when my mom was handling the kitchen, she made Laksa Sarawak with a recipe that was from my grandmother. We would have it every Raya. And kway teow Because we love the Chinese-style kway teow that’s light brown in colour with just garlic, and chives and eggs. We loved that, and my grandma actually sold kway teow for 20 years in her restaurant.

Every bite at Noaz Creation tells a story of adventure and nostalgia - a story that captures the essence of both Bruneian and Middle Eastern culinary traditions. The menu is simple but the warm familiarity of dishes like their signature Nasi Arab is elevated by the finesse of flavour that you’ll find here. In-house sauces and fresh ingredients play a starring role, and you can have this meal in any size – whether you’re out for a solo lunch or celebrating with family and friends. Those after a quick but hearty
snack or meal will appreciate the handheld convenience of Noaz Creation’s shawarma. Wafer-thin slices of juicy, marinaded meat that have been rotating on a spit for hours, paired with crunchy fresh cucumber, garlic mayo and Arabic garlic sauce. Of course, it wouldn’t be a meal without desserts! Their Kunafa is cheesy in the best way possible, with the right amount of sugar syrup and spun pastry dough topping. You can even choose from a chocolate, pistachio or mixed version. More than just a restaurant, Noaz Creation is a celebration of home, community, and the universal language of food—a place where flavours transcend borders and memories are savoured with every delicious bite.

It’s no secret (pun intended) that you’ll find delicious meals at this Malaysian franchise! Known and loved for their range of Western and Asian menu items and of course, those delightful dessert offerings, it’s sure to be a tasty treat whenever you dine here. Dive into fan favourites like the colourful Nasi Kerabu with Fried Chicken Thigh; fluffy long-grain rice stained robin’s-egg-blue from natural butterfly pea flowers, pairs wonderfully with a trio of a juicy, spiced chicken thigh that’s got the perfect crunch, Secret Recipe’s unique Sambal Tuna and fragrant Kerisik. Each component has its own distinct blend of
flavours and combined together, wow! That’s the perfect bite. If you prefer something more familiar, their Grilled Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce is a comforting plate of yumminess. Top it off with a sweet ending – Secret Recipe’s famous desserts can do no wrong. Our pick? The classic Chocolate Indulgence with rich cocoa sponge and cream, or Hazelnut Carrot Cake full of creamy cheese filling and a spiced sponge centre, are both slices that will satisfy any sugar cravings.

Who would’ve thought that you’d find authentic Mexican flavours right here in Brunei? Chef Mari’s deep-rooted love for her Mexican heritage and Chef Hakeem’s culinary training were a perfect marriage that led them to transform their Kuala Belait home into a cozys, homely dining restaurant— Ricardo’s La Galeria. It’s a go-to destination for those craving fantastic Mexican food in a laid-back setting, much like dining at your Abuelo’s home. One standout dish exclusive to this branch is Mole Enchiladas —a balance of rich, velvety cocoa-based sauce with tender shredded beef wrapped in soft tortillas. The saltiness of the feta cheese sprinkles enhance the deep, complex flavours of the chocolate and blended spice sauce, creating a truly unique harmony of taste.
Let’s taco ‘bout it! We tried their fish, chicken and beef tacos and oh boy were we beyond words! Fresh seared tuna chunks are paired with a fried tortilla shell, shredded cabbage and chunks of zesty pineapple for tang and a little extra juice to contrast the crispy shell. The beef taco is a shredded, meaty delight topped with a hint of pickled radish and fresh cilantro to freshen up the hearty fillings. If you prefer chicken tacos you'll love Ricardo's version, infused with bold spices and reminiscent of a perfectly seasoned shawarma. Dipped in the trio of salsas (spice fiends will love the roasted chilli version), it might be hard to pick a favourite! Keep an eye out for their newly launched El Patron Taco Truck - a 15-foot mobile kitchen
that doubles as a taco truck and a full catering service. It’s the first taco truck in Brunei, and definitely something to look out for!
For those looking for something heartier, the Birria Burrito is loaded with fragrant rice, beans, and of course the all important slow-cooked beef, all wrapped in a warm, fresh tortilla. Feeling boujee? The Fileto Miñon Con Camarones will not disappoint. This medium-rare tenderloin steak wrapped in beef bacon, is seasoned to perfection, oozing with buttery goodness and topped with alfalfa sprouts for a subtle crunch.
Different brand name but ultimately the same great food! Ricardo’s El Mariachi is their Bandar branch with a twist. Deeply influenced by Chef Mari’s grandfather, a Mariachi, this restaurant incorporates the true essence of being a Mariachi. It's fun and lively, complete with traditional folk music, making it perfect for anniversaries or any special occasion. The Paella Negra is exclusive to El Mariachi and this seafood party of shrimp, mussels and calamari cooked in earthy squid ink sauce and chunky short grain rice gives you a rich, slightly salty and sweet flavour profile with prominent “inkiness” whilst retaining each seafood’s individual flavour.
But what else does Ricardo’s have in store? They’re about to launch the brand in Thailand, bringing the impeccable Latin flavours we know and love to new shores, with exciting developments in store for the brand.

When we think of opulent Italian fine dining, Spaghettini at The Empire Brunei is the premier choice. The recently reopened establishment is back and dedicated as ever to providing the ultimate top dining experience! With flavours and new recipes curated by Director of Culinary Rolando Manesco who hails from Italy, each dish embodies the beauty of Italian cuisine, focusing on simplicity and authenticity. The result is an intriguing fine dining menu crafted from cherished memories of his grandmother’s kitchen, where the foundations of his culinary passion were born.
Flavoursome, yet light and simple – this ethos is translated into dishes like Gamberi, Insalata Cetrioli Melone (Prawn and avocado with citrus dressing, cucumber, and watermelon). Fresh and bright flavours take a complementary role to the succulent prawn carpaccio. For the main, their 200 gram Filetto Di Manzano is pure joy. The expertly seasoned beef steak, buttery potato purée and mushroom reduction will ignite some core memory of comfort within you. A delicate sprinkling of beetroot powder brings you back to reality with its zingy citrus undertones.
Their Panna Cotta al Choccolatio Bianco al Frutto di Lamponi (White chocolate panna cotta) with mixed berries, strawberry sauce and vanilla tuile is the perfect ending with fragrant vanilla notes and sweet-tart flavours.

Backed by the stellar reputation of its parent company, Pondok Sari Wangi Seafood, you know eating here is going to be great. Initially set up in the Mentiri village area to cater to residents, the deliciousness of their chicken rice won over the hearts and tummies of everyone else who came to dine here. So much so that they now have a second branch in Kiulap! As their signature dish, the Nasi Ayam is of course, top choice. Succulent chicken roasted or steamed to juicy perfection, served with a savoury sauce and crunchy
cucumber slices make for the perfect partner to their fluffy plates of seasoned or plain rice. Make sure you load up on the ginger and scallion sauce that’s so moreish you’ll probably be eating it by the spoonful. For a little twist, the Nasi Lemak Chicken Chop has wonderful textures in play; a crunchy deep-fried chicken cutlet, soft fragrant coconut rice, condiments like crisp peanuts and ikan bilis , and a saucy chilli-tomato sambal. The underdog on the menu? Their Fish Noodle Soup (only available at the Kiulap branch) is a complex tasting soup where local and fresh white fish chunks sit atop of a glorious seafood broth that is deeply savoury yet balanced with tang, sweetness and salty flavours where you can truly taste the sea. It’s a big bowl that fills you up with heartfelt cooking and love.

Chef Nas’s devotion to cooking stems profoundly from his cherished teenage memories of helping out in the family kitchen. Those formative years ignited his culinary journey, making him one of Brunei's most promising chefs. Nas Restaurant offers an international menu with a semi-fine dining concept where each dish is meticulously curated and deeply influenced by his culinary experience in the U.S., Italy, and Malaysia.
Their Salmon Mentaiko Baked Rice badged 1st place in the ‘Brunei Food Award 2021 Best Dish’ category, for good reason. This is a bowl of umami creaminess, topped with torched housemade mentaiko sauce and a mildly sweet teriyaki sauce, with flaky portions of salmon combined for a warm and hearty dish your stomach can't resist!
Chef Nas thrives on culinary experimentation, blending global flavours and inspiration into unique fusion dishes. One of his standout creations is the Carbonara Terubok– an immersive blend of Italian and Sarawakian influences. The traditional Carbonara sauce is flipped on its head with the addition of Ikan terubok (fish eggs), savoury house made beef rashers, grated parmesan and a parmesan crisp tuile. We dare to call this perfection for its innovative and flawless execution of a comforting favourite. The Lamb Kebuli Rice with Cucumber yogurt is simple yet satisfying– this dish literally screams comforting flavours. Tender, marinated lamb flaps are paired with fragrant, broth-infused rice, creating a harmonious base. The rich and creamy Korma sauce adds an indulgent touch, balanced by a refreshing yogurt raita.
Nas Restaurant’s approach to Brunei-Malay fusion is equally incredible. Their Ayam Percik– smoked chicken doused with a thick and saucy marinade best described as if Bolognese and Sambal had a baby– is an addictive mix of tangy, spicy, and smoky. The addition of tempura-battered eggplant on the side provides a crisp, slightly peppery contrast. Their Kupang Masak Lemak Cili Api hits home with a bright turmeric coconut milk base infused with a tremendous mix of citrusforward spices and fiery chillies destined for spice lovers. The briny, meaty mussels have a subtle sweetness that will have you licking the brim of the sauce for its tantalising, creamy flavour!

Stepping into Nagomi is like being whisked away to a quaint self-service cafeteria in Japan— replete with a warm, enthusiastic “Irasshaimase!” greeting, vintage Japanese toys, nostalgic posters and vibrant artworks. A single bite of their Salmon Mentai Baked Rice will send you into pure food euphoria; perfectly-seared salmon draped over a bed of warm Japanese rice, generously coated in the creamiest, most indulgent Japanese mayonnaise imaginable, topped with strips of seaweed, scallions and fish roe. This hearty and wholesome dish is perfect for sharing, leaving your taste buds dancing with every bite you take. Looking for something decadently savoury? Nagoya Hitsumabushi— rice served with grilled eel, glazed with a rich and smoky teriyaki sauce,
could be the perfect choice. There are traditionally three unique steps of devouring this dish; eating it as is, with the small plate of dried seasonings, or ‘chazuke-style’ where one pours the house-made dashi soup to create a sort of rice-soup mix. We daresay this experience will make you feel you're in Japan! Be sure to look around the cafeteria for their scattered menus, meant to mimic the essence of Japanese mom-and-pop style cafeterias and create a truly authentic experience at Nagomi.

One will instantly recognise Mercure Miri for its standout black, eccentric building in the heart of Miri, Sarawak. Whether you’re here for great accommodations or a whirlwind of dining experiences, Mercure Miri has everything from artisanal cakes, mouth watering drinks to hearty meals.
If you’re craving for real, creamy desserts and nutritional bites, Atoti café Gelato and Sandwich Bar is where it’s at. A gourmet café that revives the lost art of artisanal cooking and craftsmanship by bringing 16thcentury Italian recipes to life for an authentic gelato experience. Signature Fior di Latte (flower of milk) is the epitome of gelato— delectable milkiness from the best quality milk and it’s oh-so-dreamy consistency of silkiness drizzled with chocolate and vibrant rainbow dots toppings. They culture their own milk, resulting in an immensely deep flavor reminiscent of milk from rich alpine pastures. For a local twist, try their creative blend of Roasted Pineapple with Sarawak Black Pepper for a fuse of tropical tangy sweetness and peppery spice that unexpectedly pairs well together. And you can’t miss out on their Egg-Drop Sandwich that is wrapped in soft, buttery brioche with an oozing Japanese-style onsen egg. It's their messiest yet egg-xtra delicious sandwich.
Looking for an open-air rooftop space to absorb Miri’s night air and immense scenery? Cavakita by Mercure Miri offers an eclectic mix of Latin American with Asian flavours through exquisite food and beverages. Their Mushroom Arroz Croquettas are bite-sized balls, fried to crispy golden-brown, generously stuffed with mushroom risotto with annatto aioli—it’s a perfect symphony between creamy lusciousness and musky, slightly peppery taste. For something crispier, their homemade
tortilla chips do justice with thinly baked seasoned chips topped with freshly pounded avocado guacamole, encased with diced chillies, tomatoes and cucumbers. If you’re feeling adventurous, try their J-Honey Mocktail, an infusion of delicate floral, tangy and slightly sweet-sour from the jasmine tea, honey, orange and lemon juice. Craving for the local’s dessert drink classic? It’s the obvious—Cendol. Using Cavakita’s homemade Apong (palm sugar) syrup, coconut water and cream, and pandan juice—just a wholesome slurp of this heavenly goodness screams nostalgia for its sweet, creamy and refreshing hints from the coconut. And make sure to keep your eyes out for updates for an electrifying weekend at Cavakita overlooking the beautiful city of Miri!

One of the most ‘Instagrammable’ spots, I must say, for a bakery, and restaurant! Housed in a timeless building with earthy tones, the rooftop overlooks the vibrant heart of the city of Balikpapan. Their signature dish, Rawon Sumsum Sapi is delicate beef bone marrow slow-cooked with Rawon (black beef soup)—a beefy flavoured butter that meets good fat with a subtle nutty texture from the Keluak nut, complimented by salted egg and fresh mung beans on the side. Not a fan of Indonesian cuisine? Fret not, as they specialise in Italian cuisine too! Try their Paparie pizza, freshly baked pizza slathered with homemade sauce and topped with beefy, bright red pepperonis. A classic foray into kopitiam culture and food, Restoran Wisma has been serving the public since 1978 and recently undergone a little style revamp! Rest assured, you will still get that old-school feeling of a classic coffee shop with nostalgic tastes at either of their Bunut or Batu Satu branches. Restoran Wisma’s menu has a good mix of Malay, Indian and Chinese style eats but it is undoubtedly their roti canai offerings that cemented them into Brunei’s food scene. Most famous are the Roti Kosong (a plain roti without any fillings) paired with the myriad of condiments and side dishes to choose from; Roti Sarang Burung and the Roti Tsunami are relatively new inventions that are also drool-worthy. Sarang Burung refers to a lovely gooey ‘nest’ of two eggs fried right into the center of the flatbread, while the Roti Tsunami is just as it sounds – the requisite flatbread and two sunny side eggs are flooded with a mix of flavourful, spiced up curry sauces. If you are a fan of drenching your roti like we are, then this is one to try! Still looking for a heavier meal? The Nasi Biryani or Mee Mamak come highly recommended. The restaurant is typically packed during breakfast and afternoon tea, so make sure you get there on time to grab a table or be ready to wait in line.

These darn good dumplings (jiaozi) come from the brainchild of Bliss kitchen’s founder and her mum. Originally from a seaside city near Qingdao, China, she decided to share her mother’s homemade dumplings with her clients and boy are we glad she did! Hand-made dumplings require true patience and skill to make, and Laura’s learned from the best. Made fresh and from scratch every day, these dumplings are so succulent, you’ll get satisfying bursts of juicy pork broth as you bite into them. Most of the current items like the best-selling Pork, Prawn and Chive, are inspired by the traditional Chinese style of dumplings served in Qingdao, as is their delicious and addictive Chilli and Garlic dipping sauce, and more modern combinations are coming to the menu. A quick and nutritious meal option which you can store in the freezer. Simply boil in water or pan-fry to enjoy! Bliss Kitchen only has a pick-up option currently for their frozen dumplings so bring a cooler along to keep these fresh for the ride home.

It’s Ayam Geprek o’clock! A Jakartan living in Brunei realised the lack of authentic Indonesian cuisine back in 2019 and that’s what keeps her going to this day– to introduce and familiarise Bruneians with true Indonesian flavours. From a humble home-based beginning to a thriving kiosk, this eatery is all about maintaining its authenticity. At the heart of the menu is Ayam Geprek, which is perfectly fried chicken coated in a house-made batter and then smashed (geprek) with a pestle to improve sambal absorption. The fiery sambal is made with fresh, handpicked red bird's eye chillies, garlic, salt, and oil. Spice lovers rejoice! However, if you have a low tolerance for heat, proceed with caution—this dish doesn’t hold back. Every bite offers a taste of Indonesia, just as it’s meant to be. And they also sell other Indonesian delights such as cilok, bakso and telur belado

We love a good value-for-money restaurant, and JJ Economy Western Food definitely still lives up to its hype! The space actually extends across two separate dining spaces, with a different restaurant in the middle, so you might be confused but don’t worry – the menu is the same for both. As far as portion sizes go, it can vary according to reviews, but whatever you order here is certainly going to be filling and delicious! Known for their Western and Chinese food, the Thai menu is a nice hidden gem and there are plenty of unique pork-based dishes that don’t seem to be typical mainstream choices such as the stewed pork with egg. Not that adventurous? Stick to the classics like their flavour-packed Pad Thai, which packs a punch with sour, tangy and salty flavours, plus chunky sweet prawns. Their spicy kangkong is simple but so yummy, you’ll have no problem polishing off the big serving! Perhaps out of all the Asian dishes, their Sambal Sotong comes highly recommended by all, and we totally get why. The squid pieces are small but tender and you’ll want to mop every last inch of the briny, sambal belacan-based sauce up with gobs of rice. Add the requisite squish of kasturi lime across for an even tastier experience. JJWOOD is also thankfully one of those places that opens until late and it’s conveniently located at Desa Pujut PermyJaya complex just off the Kuala Baram Bypass Road, if you’re in search of a quick meal before the MiriBrunei border.
