GETTING INVOLVED Chamber Committees

Ambassadors – Encourage Chamber membership by welcoming new businesses to the Spearfish community, congratulating business expansion, participating in membership retention drives and greeting at Gone Fishin’ Mixers.

Taste of Spearfish is a favorite local event that allows you to dine around town in one spot.

Governmental Affairs – Represents and educates the membership on issues and challenges presented by local, state and federal entities; monitors legislation as it pertains to the Chamber’s mission and business community; makes recommendations to the Chamber Board of Directors when positions on issues may be required; plans and executes candidate forums, Cracker Barrels, and legislative update sessions. Young Professionals – Encourage and enhance our business membership’s young workforce, ages 21-40, through professional development, BHSU mentoring, social networking and volunteering. YP Core Statement: Dynamically Enhancing the Community of Spearfish through effective leadership, enhanced global perspective, professional development, and networking for ongoing growth & impact. Workforce Development – Assists and executes business education, seminars and luncheons for our current workforce, along with professional development and mentoring for high school and college students.

Chamber Functions – Plans and executes current standing Chamber events such as Taste of Spearfish, Annual Banquet & Awards, Community Picnic, High School Career Day, Gone Fishin’ Mixers, Thursday Morning Coffees, and a variety of training opportunities.

Programs and Events

Taste of Spearfish – Taste of Spearfish offers an affordable way to sample culinary features from local restaurants, caterers, and beverage hosts in a casual atmosphere with entertainment. Watch for Taste of Spearfish on the last Monday evening of January. Annual Chamber Banquet & Awards – The Chamber celebrates business and community success each year with awards and dinner. Awards may include Spirit of Spearfish, Friend of the Chamber, Lifetime Achievement Award, Business Beautification Award, Young Professional of the Year, Micropolitan Award, and Ambassador of the Year. Community Picnic – It’s a sizzling good time as we serve up summer delights by beautiful Spearfish Creek. Watch for this event on the third Wednesday evening in August. Get tickets in advance or at the door. Annual Fundraiser – New in 2017! Part of our mission is to further develop our future workforce, which includes promoting lifetime education

opportunities. Get your chance to win $10,000 or $5,000 CASH for only $50/ chance! Only 999 tickets will be sold. Drawing to be held at the Community Picnic. Need not be present to win. Prizes will be awarded direct to the winner; investment in education is a suggestion not a requirement. Educators’ Reception – Each year the Spearfish Chamber offers appreciation to the men and women who teach and support our growing workforce. Seminars – Watch your Fish Wrapper and Fish Bytes for these business luncheons, workshops, seminars and other training opportunities. Topics vary from year-to-year based on membership needs and requests. Leadership Spearfish – This comprehensive program develops and encourages potential leaders for our community and region. The schedule consists of multiple sessions on a wide variety of topics over a nine-month span.
