Brandis Jerré Coleman was born on September 20, 1982. She was the only child of Debra Ann Coleman of Mound Bayou, Miss.
Brandis spent her early years in Mound Bayou, where she lived with her mother and grandmother. She grew up attending Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Christ at a young age. She attended I.T. Montgomery Elementary School. She later moved with her mother to Greenwood, Miss., where she attended Amanda Elzy High School. As a teenager, Brandis demonstrated a natural talent for singing, in which her family took great pleasure. In 2002, she was accepted into Hinds Community College in Utica, Miss., and attended for a short while. She later completed training to became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked for several healthcare facilities during her career.
She passed away on July 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Brandis faced her illness with a positive attitude and faith that she was in God's hands. Brandis was preceded in death by her mother, Debra , and her grandmother, Neda M. Coleman.
She leaves to cherish her memory four aunts, Juanita (Richard) C. Bradshaw of Chicago, Barbara C. Latham Cleveland, Miss., Linda F. Coleman of Mound Bayou, and Glenda L. Coleman of Houston, Texas; two uncles, Granville (Eloise) Coleman of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Victor Dale Coleman of Houston; and a host of first cousins, extended family and friends.

Immediately following the service, the family will proceed to Pleasant Green Cemetery to the gravesite of Brandis' mother, Debra Ann Coleman.
Throughout Brandis' extended illness, several family members and friends acted as caregivers and showed her a great deal of kindness. We are profoundly grateful to her friends, Holly Jones and Alaina Anderson; her cousins, Dexter Latham and Annet Coleman, and to all who showed her love and care.
We also appreciate the many calls, texts, and expressions of condolence we have received since her passing. We take comfort in the knowledge that our loved one placed her trust in the Living God.
"I declare to you brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed."
1 Corinthians 15:50-52 (NIV)
