“The big difference for resident is going to be if you had three or four smaller containers, now you have one larger container,” he said. 1. To qualify for this offer, you must have a new or existing Platinum Savings account and enroll the account in this offer between 03/25/2019 and 05/31/2019. This offer is subject to change at any time, without notice. This offer is available only to Platinum Savings customers in the following states: AR, CT, DC, FL, GA, MD, MS, NC, NJ, NY, SC, TX and VA. In order to earn the Special Interest Rate of 2.08% (Special Rate), you must deposit $25,000 in new money (from sources outside of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., or its affiliates) to the enrolled savings account and maintain a minimum daily account balance of $25,000 throughout the term of this offer. The corresponding Annual Percentage Yield (APY) for this offer is 2.10%. The Special Rate will be applied to the enrolled savings account for a period of 12 months, starting on the date the account is enrolled in the offer. However, for any day during that 12 month period that the daily account balance is less than the $25,000 minimum, the Special Rate will not apply, and the interest rate will revert to the standard interest rate applicable to your Platinum Savings account. As of 02/15/2019, the standard interest rate and APY for a Platinum Savings account in AR, CT, DC, FL, GA, MD, MS, NC, NJ, NY, SC, TX and VA with an account balance of $0.01 and above is 0.05% (0.05% APY). Each tier shown reflects the current minimum daily collected balance required to obtain the applicable APY. Interest is compounded daily and paid monthly. The amount of interest earned is based on the daily collected balances in the account. Upon the expiration of the 12 month promotional period, standard interest rates apply. Minimum to open a Platinum Savings account is $25. A monthly service fee of $12 applies in any month the account falls below a $3,500 minimum daily balance. Fees may reduce earnings. Interest rates are variable and subject to change without notice. Wells Fargo may limit the amount you deposit to a Platinum Savings account to an aggregate of $1 million. Offer not available to Private Banking or Wealth customers. 2. Annual Percentage Yield (APY) is effective for accounts opened between 03/25/2019 to 05/31/2019. The 11-month New Dollar CD special requires a minimum of $25,000 brought to Wells Fargo from sources outside of Wells Fargo Bank N.A., or its affiliates to earn the advertised APY. Public Funds and Wholesale accounts are not eligible for this offer. APY assumes interest remains on deposit until maturity. Interest is compounded daily. Payment of interest on CDs is based on term: For terms less than 12 months (365 days), interest may be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or at maturity (the end of the term). For terms of 12 months or more, interest may be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. A fee for early withdrawal will be imposed and could reduce earnings on this account. Special Rates are applicable to the initial term of the CD only. At maturity, the Special Rate CD will automatically renew for a term of 6 months, at the interest rate and APY in effect for CDs on renewal date not subject to a Special Rate, unless the Bank has notified you otherwise. 1,2. Due to the new money requirement, accounts may only be opened at your local branch. Wells Fargo reserves the right to modify or discontinue the offer at any time without notice. Minimum new money deposit requirement of at least $25,000 is for this offer only and cannot be transferred to another account to qualify for any other consumer deposit offer. If you wish to take advantage of another consumer deposit offer requiring a minimum new money deposit, you will be required to do so with another new money deposit as stated in the offer requirements and qualifications. Offer cannot be combined with any other consumer deposit offer, except the Portfolio by Wells Fargo $500 offer, available from March 25, 2019 until May 31, 2019. Offer cannot be reproduced, purchased, sold, transferred, or traded. 3. The Portfolio by Wells Fargo program has a $30 monthly service fee, which can be avoided when you have one of the following qualifying balances: $25,000 or more in qualifying linked bank deposit accounts (checking, savings, CDs, FDIC-insured IRAs) or $50,000 or more in any combination of qualifying linked banking, brokerage (available through Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC) and credit balances (including 10% of mortgage balances, certain mortgages not eligible). If the Portfolio by Wells Fargo relationship is terminated, the bonus interest rate on all eligible savings accounts, and discounts or fee waivers on other products and services, will discontinue and revert to the Bank’s then-current applicable rate or fee. For bonus interest rates on time accounts, this change will occur upon renewal. State panel considers screenings for youth suicide By Jesse Buchanan Record-Journal staff
A state panel could recommend depression and suicide screening based on reviews of seven child suicides last year, including one of an 11-year-old Cheshire girl. Anjelita Estrada, a Doolittle School pupil, died in December. The state Chief Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a suicide. The Child Fatality Review Panel met last week to review details of her case and six other children who killed themselves last year.

she said. “You might have a kid who is questioning in terms of their sexuality, you might have a kid who had mental health and is in extensive treatment … sometimes you see bullying. But is bullying itself the tipping point? Maybe it is, but often there is other things going on in their lives.”
Vos Winkel hopes that screening efforts can also dispel the idea that talking about suicide plants the idea in children’s heads.
In a police report on Estrada’s death, family members said the girl was bullied at school. The report also described family conflict and a recent move from out of state.

Liz Linehan, DCheshire and co-chairwoman of the General Assembly’s Children’s Committee, is pushing a bill partially in response to Estrada’s death. She’s working with a local family whose daughter wrote an essay about her struggle with depression. Linehan said the girl could become an ambassador to other children for mental health.

of all-time. Platt senior guard Julia Misner joins the All-RJ squad for the first time this season. Sheehan forward Caitlyn Hunt, only a sophomore, made the grade as the lone non-senior of the bunch. Here’s the breakdown of the R-J’s top five.
Liv Robles, Sheehan sr. F The 5-foot-10 senior was a force for four years and, in her final rodeo, led the Titans to the CIAC Class M championship game. With 1,297 points, she graduates as Sheehan’s top scorer of all time.
Divine Mercy for Tuesday, April 2. Bus leaves the church at 8 a.m. to return approximately 8:45 p.m. A fee is charged. The National
Shrine of Divine Mercy, a ministry of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is located in the
heart of the Berkshire Hills in Massachusetts. The shrine site is on 350 acres, known as Eden Hill. Dinner at Michael’s Restaurant is
planned. For more information and to register, call Sr. Patricia at 203-272-3532, ext. 1312 or email srcigrand@ stbridgetcheshire.org.
one of her career goals. I think that weighed heavy on her and she’s played better since scoring the 1,000.

She’s got options. Ranked No. 2 in her class, Lipka is planning to follow a pre-med track.
better each year. She has the abiltiy to defend and get out in the open court and force the tempo for us. She’s added some other components to her game.”
“Liv has made an impact on the program since Day 1. I haven’t coached many kids that have done that.” Robles said she was honored by her third All-RJ selection. She was also named All-SCC First Team for a second straight year. “It always feels good when your hard work pays off,” Robles said. “I’m happy to do my part to keep the Sheehan tradition going and I hope without me there they will go on and do great things.”
Caitlyn Hunt, Sheehan so. F
Robles scored 471 points this season for the 19-8 Titans. That’s an average of 17.4 a night. She was also good for better than seven rebounds a game.
The second pillar of Sheehan’s potent front court, the 5-foot-11 Hunt flourished as a first-year starter. She was the Titans’ second-leading producer, pouring in 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds per contest.
Robles could score inside and out. She shot 50 percent from the field inside the arc and 34 percent from beyond it.
Her loss to injury midway through the second quarter of the Class M final against Cromwell was a blow to the Titans.
In the postseason, Robles played her best ball in guiding the TItans to their first state finals appearance since 2000. She had a careerhigh 30 points in the quarterfinals against Weaver and then topped it with 36 in the semis against Berlin.
“She’s really done a nice job fulfilling that role of having a second interior threat,” Busillo said prior to the state final. “That has given Liv a chance to float around on the outside. Caitlyn has done a really good job. I think she should be really happy with the year she’s had.”
In her farewell game in the 58-51 loss to Cromwell in the Class M final at Mohegan Sun, Robles scored a team-high 17. ”I think, as the season has gone on, she’s played better and has scored more,” Sheehan coach Mike Busillo said. “Achieving 1,000 points was
Hunt said she didn’t expect to take on such a big role this season. “I never thought I would be playing this much,” she said. “I thought I was going to come off the bench, but I was happy when I earned so
“I’m proud of myself. I worked hard this year to get where I am.” Hunt was also an All-RJ selection in volleyball.
Kailey Lipka, Lyman Hall sr. PG Lipka, like Robles, joins the R-J team for the third straight year after another strong season as the Trojans’ leading scorer. With 375 points in 23 games, Lipka averaged 16.3 points in leading Lyman Hall (1013) to the second round of the Class L tournament. The Trojans won 57-46 in Brookfield in the first round to notch their first state tourney victory in five years before falling 67-57 to eventual Class L champion Hillhouse. Lipka was a strong allaround player. She averaged 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.3 steals in her senior season. With 1,242 career points, she ranks behind only Jenn Piazza (1,507) on the program’s all-time list. Lipka is No. 1 in 3-pointers with 180.
“I think I had a pretty good year with the 1,000 points and the 3-point record,” Kailey Lipka said. “I scored more than the last two years and I couldn’t have achieved it without the support of my teammates, coaches and family.” Lipka, who lives in Durham, was proud to play her four years at Lyman Hall after being accepted by the school’s Vo-Ag Department. “It was nice to be welcomed in Wallingford and meeting new people,” Lipka said. “It was very special to have the chance to play for my father and play alongside my sister.”
Mia Juodaitis, Cheshire sr. G Juodaitis is an athlete for all seasons. She’s been AllRecord-Journal and All-SCC in volleyball, basketball and softball.
On the hardwood, Juodaitis was Cheshire’s leading scorer in each of her four seasons. That probably could be said of any one of Juodaitis’ three sports. Softball is the one she’ll continue playing at Providence College.
Julia Misner, Platt sr. G Misner, like Juodaitis, is a three-sport athlete. Along with basketball, the senior plays tennis and soccer and is a four-year varsity veteran in each. A two-year starter on the hardwood, Misner poured in 10 points per game this year was named All-CCC South. This is her first turn on the All-RJ team. “I was really excited to get that email that I made the team,” Misner said. “I started off the season strong and, in the middle of the season, I had a big of a lull until I picked it up at the end of the season. “I regained my confidence and started scoring in double digits again.” Platt coach Tina Gonyea said Misner was the Panthers’ most consistent player all season. “She was a leader for us both on and off the court,” Gonyea said. “She’s a quiet leader who leads by example. She knows every play from every position on the floor. I feel comfortable playing her in any position.” So do we. Julia, welcome to the club.

ALL-RECORD-JOURNAL TEAM / BOYS SWIMMING
These boys were not out of their depth Inaugural wave of All-RJ swimmers, divers were among state’s top contenders By Bryant Carpenter Record-Journal staff
anyway.
MERIDEN — So here’s a good one.
Just like their Cheshire teammates, Joe Cannata and Andrew Lou.
“I’m afraid of elevators,” the freshman told his Cheshire teammates who were also named All-RJ.
Just like Maloney’s Jake Donlon, Southington’s Tyler Heidgerd and two cornerstones of Sheehan’s repeat SCC Division II championship team, Joey Zellner and Andrew DiDomenico. Three divers made the grade. All three, like their swimming brethren, went to the State Open: Sheehan’s Andrew Buehler and Southington teammates Chase Galayda and E.J. Suski.

On the night of the AllALL RecordJournal boys TEAM swimming photo shoot, riding in the elevator up to the R-J office, Cheshire’s Shane Wynne made a confession.
Introducing the inaugural All-Record-Journal Boys Swimming Team. Cheshire’s Shane Wynne (left) and Sheehan’s Adam DiDomenico are in front. In the middle row, left to right, are Sheehan teammates Andrew Buehler and Joey Zellner, Maloney’s Jake Donlon and Southington’s Chase Galayda. In back, from left, are Cheshire teammates Joe Cannata, Sam Hanke and Andrew Lou alongside Southington teammates Tyler Heidgerd and E.J. Suski.

Swimming From A15
There were a number of other swimmers and divers on area teams also in All-RJ contention. Many of them were part of highly successful relay teams. In the end, we opted to go with the guys who plied state waters not just with relays, but in an individual ca-
pacity. State waters are deep waters. (Sam, you did just fine.)
Cheshire Actually, Hanke wasn’t just fine. He was fantastic, especially at the SCC Championships. Hanke won two individual conference titles — the 100yard backstroke and 200yard freestyle — and teamed
with Cannata, Lou and Wynne to capture the 200 freestyle relay. That relay team went on to place second in Class L and third at the State Open. Individually, Cannata took the top prize by winning the Class L championship in the 200 individual medley in 1:43.46. He was the area’s lone state champion this season. Hanke came close. He was second in the backstroke at both the Class L meet and State Open. In each successive postseason meet, Hanke lowered the Cheshire backstroke record: 52.70 at SCCs, 51.80 at Class L and 51.33 at the State Open. As for the 200 freestyle, Hanke finished fourth in Class L and qualified for the Open. Like Hanke, Cannata, Lou and Wynne swam in Class L championship heats in two individual events and two relays. Cannata had the biggest night for Cheshire at that Class L meet. Along with winning the 200 IM, he was second in the 100 breaststroke.
Cannata went on to place third in the breaststroke at the State Open in a seasonbest time of 58.39. He will be swimming Division I next year at Fairfield University. Hanke, Lou and Wynne, meanwhile, will be back at Cheshire Community Pool looking to improve on this year’s accomplishments. For Lou, a junior, the highlights were a fifth-place Class L finish in the 100 freestyle and a pair of silver medals with the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Lou went to the State Open in all three events. Wynne was seventh in the Class L butterfly and caught a tough break in being disqualified from the championship heat of the 200 IM for a transition violation. Wynne went to the Open with the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
Meriden Maloney senior Jake Donlon is heading north next year to study Wildlife Ecology. He’s not quite sure where just yet — maybe the University of Maine, maybe Castleton State in Vermont. Wherever he winds up, Donlon leaves a legacy with the Meriden Co-op. He qualified
SUDOKU
for this year’s Class LL championship heats in the 50 freestyle and 200 free relay. Donlon was joined on that relay by fellow seniors Julio Hernandez and Hunter Bernabucci and junior Alexander Flynn. Donlon also excelled in the 100 backstroke, particularly in the CCC South. He was divisional champ in that event as a junior and second this year as a senior.
Southington Tyler Heidgerd, still only a junior, was the leading light on yet another solid Southington squad that will be strong again next year. Heidgerd captured the CCC West backstroke championship and swam to another divisional crown in the 400 freestyle relay with freshman Landon Colby and fellow juniors Derek Melanson and Brian Egan. (That relay team ultimately made it to the State Open.) Heidgerd, meanwhile, shifted gears after the CCC West meet, moving from the backstroke to the freestyle for the Class LL meet. He was eighth in the 200 free and ninth in the 100. With a time of 48.87 in the latter race, Heidgerd qualified for the State Open. The Blue Knights were also strong in diving, led by senior Chase Galayda and junior E.J. Suski. These two were close. They were fourth and seventh, respectively, at the Class LL competition and both advanced to the State Open. Their best scores were in Class LL. Galayda compiled a 399.85, Suski a 367.20. Galayda departs holding both Southington diving records. Future Southington divers will be chasing Chase in both 6-dive (281) and 11dive (428). Galayda will be at Springfield College next year, competing not in diving, but gymnastics.

ALL-RECORD-JOURNAL TEAM / BOYS ICE HOCKEY
Anyone up for a second helping? By Bryant Carpenter Record-Journal staff
MERIDEN — There were no fisticuffs. No five-minute majors. Not even a whiff of a two-minute roughing. It was quite peaceful when select players from the Sheehan and Lyman Hall Co-op hockey teams, combatants in this year’s CIAC Division III state championship game only a week ago, gathered for the All-Record-Journal Ice Hockey Team photo shoot on Wednesday night. And, really, why would it be otherwise? Truth is, the Titans and Trojans are rivals for only the 45 minutes in which they go head-to-head on the ice. They spent twice that much time hanging out at the R-J office on Wednesday before departing for Dairy Queen and the traditional free ice cream cones on the first night of spring.
It also definitively decided which players from the Wallingford squads would make the All-RJ Team. Turns out they were dead even at four apiece. Cheshire, after a 16-6-1 season in Division II that included crossover wins over both Sheehan and LH, had three picks. That adds up to 11, the first time the All-RJ Ice Hockey Team has expanded beyond the traditional (and minimum) six. Given the unprecedented nature of this winter — the all-Wallingford state final was not only unprecedented, neither program had even gotten that far before — the envelope simply had to be pushed. And then it had to be sealed nice and tight. This was a

season that opened with Cheshire and Sheehan coming together in pre-game huddle at Wesleyan on opening night to honor the memory of Wallingford Hawks coach Scott DeFilio, who had passed away from a brain tumor at age 47 less than two weeks before. It closed with Wallingford at the center of the state Division III hockey universe before a packed house at Ingalls.
one tasty season on ice.
Cheshire The key to Cheshire’s 15-4-1 regular season and subsequent run to the CIAC Division II quarterfinals started and ended with defense. The Rams allowed just 27 goals in 20 regular-season games and held three postseason opponents to two goals apiece before falling 5-2 to eventual state runner-up Glastonbury.
Leading the way in front of Maringola were the two senior captains, Ben O’Connor and James Ilnicki. O’Connor, who will look to continue his career with a year of junior hockey, added two goals and seven assists. Ilnicki, who is going into the electrical trade, scorerd five goals and added eight assists. All three players were named All-State Division II on Friday by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association. O’Connor was selected to the First Team, Ilnicki and Maningola to the Second Team. O’Connor was also an AllSCC/SWC Division II FirstTeamer. Maringola was on the conference Second Team.
Ilnicki, oddly, did not garner SCC/SWC recognition. He did take a second shift on Ice cream was the postGiven that acumen, it should the All-RJ Team. script. Makes sense. This was come as no surprise that all

Our goalie is junior Nick Maringola. His goals-against average in the regular season was 1.30. He recorded four shutouts, pitched nine one-goal games and made 387 saves.
