WELCOME BACK The CREATIVE KIDZ EXPERIENCE is so very special! Let's embrace and cherish it!

CREATIVE GREETINGS, RYAN SCHALKWYK GENERAL MANAGER

Sometimes when we reflect on that which we cherish most, it is sometimes incomprehensible how much we focus on what is most important to us. As parents, it's very easy to put our kids first and it's not possible to think others will, but at CREATIVE KIDZ SCHOOL, thats exactly what we do. Creating an environment away from home that is as reflective of what you as Parents give and provide in your own homes, is so important in keeping the consistency in your child's daily routine.

At CREATIVE KIDZ SCHOOL an extension of the very protection that our Learners experience at home, is provided in the day to day School Routine. Our learners flourish in this warm and nurturing environment that is offered at CREATIVE KIDZ SCHOOL. We have many exciting things on offer in Term 3, that will keep our learners wanting more of the CREATIVE KIDZ experience. We really hope that you will embark on this exciting journey with our Learners and Staff, and help to ensure that we give our learners the very best that they deserve.

Could we KINDLY ask for ALL CREATIVE KIDZ SCHOOL PARENTS to fill out this testimonial form below please, we'd also like to get your feedback? https://forms.gle/DTVCnbTfFBvSNCCt9 See an example of one of our favourite testimonials below: "I am so great full for all the help and guidance the school has provided to my son since the day he started Gr3. I was lost and hopeless but you restored confidence within my son and then he started living again and enjoyed going to school. After his remedial journey at Creative Kidz school he is coping much better with the mainstream high school environment, he is even flourishing. This is all thanks to Creative Kidz. Thank you very much for your help in building and giving my son his pride back. Yes, he still has a long tough road ahead, but I won't stop helping him. You've truly had a great impact!"

PSYCH MATTERS DEALING WITH TEST ANXIETY

Nikki Russell Student Registered Counsellor

Stress during exam times is not an uncommon phenomenon. It is natural for students to be worried about how they will perform, what type of paper they will be getting or whether or not they have prepared sufficiently. Parents play a pivotal role in helping students manage their stress and study for the exams in a more relaxed manner. Help them When they are brewing under pressure, it is hard to concentrate on studies. Just sit alongside and help them with their studies, which will boost their confidence level. Avoid isolation Most often, parents leave their kids alone in a room while studying, to assist them in feeling at peace and to be able to concentrate. However, don't let them sit alone for a very long duration; detachment makes them feel discomfort.

What are the symptoms associated with exam stress? Change in appetite Having difficulty in making decisions Losing contact with friends Being moody or overwhelmed Headaches or tensed muscles Poor sleeping patterns Trouble staying motivated to study Nail biting, teeth grinding, or fidgeting Being confused Remember to support them, love them and help them make studying fun!

Talk to them How do you feel now? Does the action plan work? Are you relaxed now? Talk to them and know how they are feeling mentally and physically. Also, make sure you are not too adamant! Help them understand that your shoulders are always there to lean on. Is the room messy? If they leave their room messy, help them get organised. Remember they are already under stress, so don't pressure them for too many extra chores. Manage their health Avoid foods that contain unhealthy, high in fat, and high in sugar. Nourish the body with lots of healthy nutrition. Fuel their mind and body with lots of water, green veggies, fruit, nuts, and seeds. Stop comparing Every student is different by nature, and so are their interests. Don't compare them with others. It might make them feel worse and will keep them demotivated. Let them take a break Let them step outside. They cannot study all the time. Let them step out and get a breath of fresh air. This will avoid them procrastinating; this will boost their productivity. Find professional help Chat to one of the counsellors at the school. We are here to help! Exams and schoolwork are two of the most stressful things in students’ lives. It is common for parents to overlook exam stress as something that is a part of being a student. But left untreated, exam stress can take a toll on the student’s mental health and wellbeing. Students who suffer from exam stress can experience reduced grades. It may result in lower self-esteem, lack of motivation, lower confidence, etc.

Make studying fun!

PSYCH MATTERS TIPS FOR DEALING WITH YOUR CHILD’S LEARNING BARRIER By: THELPGUIDE.ORG

Has your child been diagnosed with a learning barrier? With these parenting tips, you can help them build self-confidence and find success at school—and in life. All children need love, encouragement, and support, and for kids with learning disabilities, such positive reinforcement can help ensure that they emerge with a strong sense of self-worth, confidence, and the determination to keep going even when things are tough. In searching for ways to help children with learning disabilities, remember that you are looking for ways to help them help themselves. Your job as a parent is not to “cure” the learning barrier, but to give your child the social and emotional tools they need to work through challenges. In the long run, facing and overcoming a challenge such as a learning barrier can help your child grow stronger and more resilient. Always remember that the way you behave and respond to challenges has a big impact on your child. A good attitude won’t solve the problems associated with a learning barrier, but it can give your child hope and confidence that things can improve and that they will eventually succeed. Keep things in perspective. A learning barrier isn’t insurmountable. Remind yourself that everyone faces obstacles. It’s up to you as a parent to teach your child how to deal with those obstacles without becoming discouraged or overwhelmed. Don’t let the tests, school bureaucracy, and endless paperwork distract you from what’s really important—giving your child plenty of emotional and moral support. Become your own expert. Do your own research and keep abreast of new developments in learning barrier programs, therapies, and educational techniques. You may be tempted to look to others— teachers, therapists, doctors—for solutions, especially at first. But you’re the foremost expert on your child, so take charge when it comes to finding the tools they need in order to learn. Be an advocate for your child. You may have to speak up time and time again to get special help for your child. Embrace your role as a proactive parent and work on your communication skills. It may be frustrating at times, but by remaining calm and reasonable, yet firm, you can make a huge difference for your child. Remember that your influence outweighs all others. Your child will follow your lead. If you approach learning challenges with optimism, hard work, and a sense of humor, your child is likely to embrace your perspective—or at least see the challenges as a speed bump, rather than a roadblock. Focus your energy on learning what works for your child and implementing it the best you can. Focus on strengths, not just weaknesses. Your child is not defined by their learning barrier. A learning barrier represents one area of weakness, but there are many more areas of strengths. Focus on your child’s gifts and talents. Your child’s life—and schedule—shouldn’t revolve around the learning barrier. Nurture the activities where they excel, and make plenty of time for them. As a parent you are THE MOST important person in your child's life. You're a valuable part of their EDUCATION TEAM! Along with a school that cares for and understands your child's struggles, this team can CRAFT A HAPPY CHILD.

YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB!

Happy

HOWZIT FROM HYKIE BERG

Good day all you wonderful peeps. For those of you who don’t know me yet I am Hykie Berg, the proud ambassador of Creative Kidz. Today I would like to share with you the importance of a good diet and intelligent supplementation for your kids. But first let me give you a little back story on the challenges I had and how good nutrition and intelligent supplementation saved my life. I was diagnosed with bipolar 1, bipolar 2, depression, chronic ADHD, oppositional Defiance Disorder, anxiety disorders as well as obsessive compulsive disorder and Substance induced Disorder. I remember I used to walk around with a space case full of medication for years. My doctors and psychiatrists told me I would probably be on medication for the rest of my life. My medical bill was anything between R3000 and R5000 a month. I struggled a lot, especially with the stigma of being on medication. I accepted my fate and tried to cope with everyday life as best I could. About six years ago a friend of mine approached me and introduced me to natural products manufactured in the USA. He told me that these products will really help me and give me back quality of life. At first, I thought it was a joke. I have been seeing medical specialists for more than 15 years, why would I believe him? I was very sceptical. The only reason I bought the products was because there was a 90-day money back guarantee and I told him not to be offended if I choose to return the products and ask for my money back. I was convinced it would not make a difference. To make a long story short, after about 9 months I managed to get off all my medication. My entire life changed. I couldn’t believe it! I am still taking these products everyday of my life and have been medication free for almost 7 years. Medication however does serve a major purpose and I am grateful for medical expertise. But I was at a point where I needed different solutions. One of the reasons why children as well as adults suffer from severe illness is because of a lack of good nutrition. The quality of food is not what it used to be. Because of green harvesting, pollution, and modernday farming practices most of the micronutrients that we are supposed to consume are missing in our food. Supplementation isn’t a luxury anymore, it’s a MUST. Unfortunately, there are a lot of rubbish on the market and as you know, the wellness industry in South Africa is not regulated. So, it becomes very difficult to trust local natural product manufacturers. You need products with real science, which does what it says it will do. You need the MISSING NUTRIENTS! REMEMBER, stepping into a place of wellness is always a holistic approach. Intelligent supplementation is required, but also sound sleep, exercise, discipline, faith, and medical expertise. There is no such thing as a silver bullet. But I promise you, taking care of the basics will eradicate so many unnecessary problems and challenges. I was blessed to be able to use these products and get off my medication. Your journey might look different than mine, yet, with targeted nutrition and solid real plant real food nutritional supplements, you will see incredible results! For more information you are more than welcome to email me at hykieb@gmail.com Have a fantastic and blessed day! Lots of love Hykie Berg
