There are many features which make CHS such an impressive school, but chief amongst them is the genuinely holistic nature of the education which it provides. The dynamism, challenge and breadth of the School’s academic life enables an enduring sense of enquiry and essential analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition, the outstanding pastoral care creates an environment in which the pupils feel safe, supported and are able to thrive, whilst developing a strong awareness of their place in the local community and wider world.

Neil HeadSmith,

By providing extensive opportunities for our young people to engage in school life beyond the classroom, we seek to emphasise the importance of living an active life, and one where they are encouraged to experience new adventures, whether it be in sport, music, debating or in one of the many other cocurricular opportunities available at CHS.

The very best education enables young people to develop a life-long love of learning, and equips them to cope with a world which is diverse, complex and ever-changing.

Whether joining CHS in our nurturing Pre-School or Reception class, entering the Senior School aged 11 or joining us for the decisive Sixth Form years, our focus remains on each individual pupil. Each learner has their own strengths, skills and talents, as well as those areas they feel less confident in or find more demanding. We are proud to offer a relevant, stimulating and dynamic education, enabling every child to develop as a well-qualified, socially confident, independent young adult. The educational journey embraces more than the classroom environment; it is equally about the co-curricular opportunities through which your child can grow and flourish.

“Our family of three children have passed through this school and we have been so pleased with every aspect of the experience. The education, pastoral care and help whilst growing up and becoming fully rounded responsible members of society is second to none” Rachael, Mum to Georgina, Ben and Old Waconian, Charlotte

When the School was established in 1855, co-education was at the heart of its vision and to this day, boys and girls continue to learn, work and develop together, benefitting from each other’s insights and interpretations. Growing up and learning through co-education makes sense to us and best prepares young people for adulthood. In a co-educational world, real learning takes place when pupils understand that we decipher the world around us differently based upon our background, values and gender. Learning how to listen to, challenge and accept diversity is an important lesson from the earliest age.

A pupil of Cheadle Hulme School.

The term derives from the School’s original name, The Manchester Warehousemen and Clerks’ Orphan Schools.

Celebrating 150 Years of the School’s Main Building at its site in Cheadle Hulme, the School’s founding principles stand as strong today.

Through our online platform, CHS Community, former pupils are encouraged to stay in touch with School and each other. Parents are also welcome to become part of the online community, to connect and share their career expertise.

Having attended CHS since the age of 4, it definitely provided me with some of the foundations with which I would then move into the world. Most importantly, the school provided me with the most incredible memories and amazing friendships. For that I will always be super grateful.
