Incoming President, Charlotte City Club
Dear Members,
It is our great pleasure to share exciting news with you. Charlotte City Club has been recognized again by the Club Leaders Forum as one of the Top 50 City Clubs in the world for the 2026–2027 Platinum Clubs® election cycle. This is the 6th consecutive year we have achieved this distinction
This prestigious recognition is awarded by industry leaders worldwide and reflects excellence across seven key areas, including governance, service standards, facilities, culture, and overall member experience.
Being named among the finest City Clubs globally is a testament to the passion, professionalism, and commitment of our dedicated team - and to the continued engagement and support of our members.
We are honored to receive this distinction and remain steadfast in our mission to create a Club where you feel known, inspired, and elevated each time you walk through our doors. Thank you for being an essential part of Charlotte City Club’s continued success. We look forward to celebrating this achievement together in the new year ahead.

As the temperatures cool in Charlotte, our reciprocal network opens the door to sunnier days from coast to coast. This month, we are spotlighting a pair of warm-weather escapes that allow you to enjoy the same level of hospitality, comfort, and connection you love at your home Club.

Santa Barbara, California
The Santa Barbara Club originated as a social club in 1890 Starting as the “Arlington Jockey Club”, a collaboration between the local ranchers and businessmen and the wealthy industrialists from the East who were staying at Santa Barbara’s posh Arlington Hotel led to formally establishing themselves in 1892.

Cloaked in history and tradition, the Santa Barbara Club’s purpose remains as a gathering place for fun, companionship, wisdom, education and the exchange of ideas As a fellow Platinum Club, the Santa Barbara Club offers dining (both indoors and outdoors) as well as private meeting and event rooms.

Spirits of Alchemy Saturday, Jan 3 | 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Spirits of Alchemy, a lively and funky Charlotte company based in Plaza Midwood, specializes in small-batch mixers perfect for both N/A and spirit-driven cocktails. With two decades of beverage experience, they chased the thrill of alchemy torching citrus peels,

smoking ice cubes, and reimagining what cocktail ingredients could be. There's magic in the mixing. One pour, one stir, one delicious act of rebellion at a time, Spirits of Alchemy was born.
Their equally fun and flavorful cocktail mixes will be the stars of our upcoming tasting, where we’ll feature six unique recipes that can be enjoyed non-alcoholic for our “Dry January” friends or mixed with spirits for those still celebrating the season.

As we prepare for an exciting year of curated experiences through our Affinity Clubs, we want to share several important updates that will help us continue delivering the elevated programming, quality, and value that our members expect.
Our Affinity Clubs: Whiskey & Humidor, Wine Cru, Barley & Hops and Grand Cru remain among our most popular offerings. Based on member feedback and participation trends, we have refined the structure and pricing for 2026 to ensure each club can continue offering the premium tastings, education, amenities, and food & beverage experiences that define these gatherings.
As we continue to elevate the offerings within each club, pricing will reflect the true cost of goods, premium product selections, high touch hospitality and service charges.
These adjustments ensure we can match the rising cost of ingredients, secure higher quality varietals and spirits, and curate experiences that remain best in class for our membership. Over the past year, your feedback and our internal review have highlighted the importance of continuing to raise the standard of our Affinity Clubs.
To deliver on these expectations responsibly and sustainably, the updated pricing aligns with actual food and beverage costs and ensures the longevity of these member-driven experiences.
Beginning in 2026, Affinity Club pricing will include the standard service charge, ensuring we can provide:
A competitive wage for our culinary, beverage, and service teams
Reliable staffing for these high-touch programs
The consistency and quality our members have asked for
This change allows us to invest directly in the people who bring these experiences to life, supporting both retention and excellence across our operation

Although I have traveled abroad, when I choose to travel, it is always back home to St. Louis, Missouri. What intrigues me most is the anticipation of reconnecting with family and friends My wife and I have been together for forty years and married for thirty-four years (we were high school sweethearts) Our families grew up together long before we were born, so it feels predestined that we would unite Each visit feels like a family reunion, and that sense of belonging is priceless
