Dear Families, Friends and Faculty and Staff, It is hard to believe that five years have passed since we kicked off the Lighting The Way Campaign which is the most significant campaign in our school’s 60 year history. This letter and publication serves as a heartfelt “thank you” to more than 100 volunteers and the 753 families, foundations and corporations who have given generously to make this campaign a tremendous success. As you peruse the following pages we trust you will join us in celebrating the many blessings God has provided the school through this campaign as it comes to its natural close. Lighting The Way was the result of much prayer and planning that was conducted by the board of trustees and school leadership beginning in 2004. Through surveys, small group meetings and the help of campaign planning professionals, four priorities were identified; reduction of long term debt, sustaining the annual Quality Plus Fund (QPF), renovation of current facilities and the addition of new facilities related to the Upper School, Lower School and a Worship/Fine Arts Center. During the planning process, a lofty goal of $15 million was set - $11.5 million was to be designated for the LTW priorities and $3.5 million would go to support QPF. Despite our incredibly challenging economic times our community has taken a significant step toward meeting this vision over the last five years by investing $7,326,606 toward LTW campaign projects and $2,853,619 toward QPF totaling $10,180,225 ! This is an amazing testimony to God’s blessings on Charlotte Christian, the love and support of all of our supporters, and a tremendous gift to both current and future students and families. As this campaign comes to a close, our continued LTW goal is to raise the remaining $1.1 million needed to build the next educational facility. We realize this will not happen apart from the Lord’s continued blessing and the generosity of many. We continue to pray that a Worship/Fine Arts Center will become a reality one day, but at this time we believe that addition to our campus will be part of a future campaign. The details of Lighting The Way and all of its accomplishments are outlined in the following pages in pictures and words. They pale in comparison however, to the hearts and lives that have been transformed for the past 60 years through the mission of Charlotte Christian School. God’s word, and those who teach it to us, remain our deepest treasures as we continue to build upon God’s mission for our school for years to come. LIGHTING THE WAY For 60 years, families and friends have partnered to make Charlotte Christian School a place where students are inspired to be extraordinary learners and develop their Godgiven gifts and talents. Launched in 2006 the Lighting The Way campaign is a recent example of this tremendous partnership, coming together for the benefit of students. BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE With $2,423,568 raised toward the next phase of this campaign, our community is looking forward to breaking ground on the next educational facility. The goal of Phase 2 has been to provide permanent classrooms for those currently held in cottages. When constructed, this facility will accurately reflect the needs of our campus. The Charlotte Christian board of trustees and senior staff remain aware of the need for a Worship/ Fine Arts Center and expanded athletic facilities. These facilities will be the primary focus of future campaigns.
