What an exciting year 2023 is going to be! With the new Clubhouse opening and so many fun events in store, this year is going to be one for the books! We finally have the space to enjoy each others company in our new Club Cresswind. From the aerobics room, to the art room, plus the stocked kitchen, we know Club Cresswind is going to be your new favorite hangout spot!

We ended 2022 on a high note and had ourselves a wonderful time at the first ever CTL Jolly Holiday Party. So many people got together for an evening of dinner and dancing. What a wonderful time we all had! And the food was delicious, too. It was a really special evening surrounded by neighbors and friends. We are so lucky to live in such a welcoming and fun-loving community. This was just the first of many more parties to come!

Not only will we continue to host fantastic parties and events in our new Club Cresswind, but there are so many clubs and fitness classes to take part in too. If you haven’t already, stop by and grab a copy of the weekly fitness schedule, or visit the community website to see what all our wonderful clubs are up to. One thing I love about this community is everyone’s open arms and encouragement to join in. We aren’t just a community, we are a neighborhood!

The past few months were indeed exciting, but the way ahead is bound to be full of even more entertaining and lively events. Coming up this June we have an amazing Jimmy Buffett Tribute by the group Sons of Sailors. Whether you’re a Parrothead or not, break out those Hawaiian shirts and flipflops for a good time!

Lastly, I just want to say thanks to each and every one of you for making this a truly unique place to live. As we get to know each other, let’s not forget the meaning of community. A place where we can all connect, learn, and laugh together. Thank you!

CLUB CRESSWIND OPENS

with a weekend of activities!

How exciting that we have finally opened our clubhouse! After much anticipation, Club Cresswind opened with a weekend full of festivities in February. Everyone came out and had a blast exploring the new clubhouse.

Kicking off our weekend of activities, we hosted a tailgate party. To make it extra special, the event was catered by Stonewall’s BBQ, a local Braselton restaurant. The food was delicious! Everyone enjoyed munching on BBQ chicken and pork, while enjoying sweet tea and lemonade. In addition to the great food, drinks were provided by Tap It!, a brew pub in Gainesville. One of the most special drinks on tap was locally made Tropicalia IPA, brewed by an Athens brewery. To top it off, it was great to see familiar staff stepping in to help serve food and make sure everyone was having a fantastic time.

As residents ate and drank, they also had the opportunity to explore the new facility. From the aerobics room to the game room, there were people in every corner of Club Cresswind! People were already tearing it up on the dance floor too! Music was provided by Doug Jervey, who made sure he got the residents

up and dancing. The new billiards table found use, too! If the tailgate party is an indicator of what’s to come, the clubhouse will be a very busy place.

The following day was another fun day of festivities. In the morning we hosted a club showcase, with all of our wonderful clubs there! Each club went all out in making a display that was eye-catching and engaging to attract new members. As residents walked around to learn about the new clubs, they also had the chance to try out some of the fitness classes that will take place in Club Cresswind. Our yoga instructor, Cassie, led two great yoga demonstrations and had a great turnout at each! Similarly, Cheryl led two Tai Chi sessions that garnered a lot of interest from residents. And Cannie from All-Star Shape & Fitness, had residents working out all the muscles in her “Fit Mornings” demonstrations.

That night, the party continued with a concert by the Regulators! This band really knows how to get us dancing!! It was a great evening of dancing and friendship. There was no shortage of participants on the dance floor. What a great night!

To finish up the weekend, everyone came together for the BIG GAME, when the Philadelphia Eagles went head-to-head with the Kansas City Chiefs. Residents went all out for this fun night! Fans of both the Eagles and the Chiefs showed up in their team colors to cheer them on. It was wonderful to see everyone cheering on their favorite team or dancing to the Rhianna halftime show. But the best part of the whole weekend was simply being able to finally enjoy the clubhouse together.

Our new state-of-the-art EGYM!

One of the clubhouse hot spots is going to be our unique EGYM. EGYM is a state-of-the-art circuit workout that is tailored to you! We at Cresswind are so fortunate to have such specialized technology to keep us moving forward on our individual journeys. EGYM is tailored to each person and getting everyone into the system and registered on each machine was a big task.

Thankfully, Cresswind residents were up to the task! A group of EGYM ambassadors were created to help Cresswind residents be entered into the system. About 30 people signed up to be an ambassador and took part in a two day training on how to use the EGYM technology. After that, ambassadors

worked nearly non-stop through the next 1.5 weeks to onboard every resident who was interested in utilizing the EGYM technology. Everyday, a group of ambassadors made their way to the clubhouse and helped onboard 40 people a day!! After the 1.5 weeks of onboarding, nearly all of Cresswind’s 500+ residents were incorporated into the EGYM system. Wow!

If you missed the opportunity to onboard prior to the grand opening, there will always be time! Simply reach out to your Lifestyle Director to find a time to learn the system. The EGYM is unique to Cresswind and is here to stay! So, there will always be ambassadors willing to onboard fellow residents!

Oh, what fun at our Jolly Holiday Party!

Even without a clubhouse, Cresswind knows how to have fun and our Jolly Holiday Party this past December proves it! One-hundred and seventy people came together at the Braselton Civic Center to celebrate the season. Residents spent the night dancing and singing…there was even a conga line that wrapped around the entire banquet hall! Spirits were high as the Cresswind community enjoyed the sounds of Rodney Appleby who sang holiday favorites and other songs to sing along too.

In addition to dancing the night away, we all enjoyed a delicious meal provided by Leather and Lace Coffee Company & Catering. There was mouth watering Tuscan Chicken, Blackened Salmon paired with delectable herb roasted potatoes. So many of us went up for seconds, that there weren’t even any leftovers! And the meal was topped off with dessert shooters containing Southern Banana Pudding, Mississippi Mud Pie, and Key Lime Pie. Everyone left with happy hearts and stomachs!

Club Happenings • Let’s Learn the Cha Cha!

With our Clubhouse open, clubs couldn’t wait to start taking advantage of all the amenities. Just check out our Dance Club in our new ballroom! The Dance Club met the very first week of Club Cresswind’s opening and hosted an entire afternoon of

dance lessons and activities. Beginning at 2:00, residents gathered to learn the Cha Cha from certified instructor, Nettie Hatchett. She took the time to help residents learn the moves perfectly. But the afternoon continued to include line dance lessons. You would

think everyone would be tired from these lessons, but no! The Dance Club had an evening lesson of the East Coast Swing style of dancing. It was great to see our enthusiastic residents learning new dance moves, and some folks even stayed for all three lessons!

Men’s Club lends a helping hand to Cresswind Twin Lakes

The Men’s Club is made up of male volunteers, living in Cresswind Twin Lakes and doing good deeds to help our neighbors and support the residents of Cresswind Twin Lakes, Hoschton and Braselton.

The mission of the Men’s Club is to provide civic, community service and social opportunities for the male residents of Cresswind Twin Lakes. The primary purpose is to offer aid and support to those who are dealing with serious illness, injury, or other emergency situations.

The Men’s Club Helping Hands Service Project provides good samaritan acts of kindness for home tasks that may be difficult or impossible for some neighbors to manage. The club volunteers have agreed to assist neighbors with the following services: searching for missing persons or pets; delivering meals to residents; visiting sick or injured residents; providing rides to doctor’s appointment or the pharmacy; watching a home while on vacation; jump starting a car battery; connecting or troubleshooting electronic equipment; turning mattresses, securing delivered packages; moving garbage cans to the street or house; help with programming a thermostat, irrigation controls or security alarm systems; and replacing air filters in the attic, water filters in the refrigerator or batteries in the smoke alarms.

Since March of 2022 the Men’s Club has dispatched volunteers to 41 service calls to lend a helping hand to Cresswind Twin Lakes homeowners. Our projects and services will change as the community grows and resident needs change.

The Men’s Club Medical Equipment Service Project collects donations of good condition, slightly used and unwanted medical equipment. The equipment is cleaned, safety checked, stored and then loaned to Cresswind Twin Lakes residents on a short term basis. There is no charge for this service and Men’s Club volunteers will deliver and pickup all equipment within the gates of Cresswind Twin Lakes. This newly formed committee has already loaned out medical equipment to five residents, each within hours of requesting our assistance. The club is in need of additional inventory and are accepting donations of the following: medical equipment, bed safety rails, canes, bedside commodes, crutches, knee braces, rollators, shower chairs, slings, walking boots, walkers, and wheelchairs.

The Men’s Club Stage Crew Committee offers assistance to the Cresswind HOA as needed with stage set-up and break down for concerts and other Cresswind events. It also helps out with the set-up of tables, chairs and tents as needed.

Celebrating Veterans Day, November 11

This past Veterans Day, November 11th, we took the opportunity to really give thanks to the many veterans in our community. Although it was raining, we made the most of it and met for a time of fellowship and celebration.

Leading up to Veterans Day, Tom Holloman and the Veterans Club lined Twin Lakes Boulevard with American flags. It was a beautiful sight! Then on the day of, we gathered together and heard from Guillermo Roman, who is

proudly serving our country and wanted to express his thanks and gratitude to those who served before him. To top it all off, we indulged in a delicious New Orleans style lunch, donated by Jag’s Café in Gainesville!

The Everly Brothers Experience • April 1

Since 2016, brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed along with their partner and drummer Burleigh Drummond, have celebrated the pivotal music and history of The Everly Brothers legacy with enthusiastic crowds all across the US and overseas in prestigious venues. They say “Our aim is not to impersonate but to do our best in honoring the aesthetics of their iconic sound and in honoring the important role they played in pioneering the rock n’ roll movement, all while having a little fun sharing our own personal story,” and they do just that. The Zmed Brothers live performance infuses an intimate blend of Everly Brothers music, historical information about the band and a charming mix of comedy (a la Smothers Brothers). This is a live show not to be missed!
