previous years, this year’s orientation was separated into two days to minimize contact between students. “This was our first big event back on campus, and we did not want to put people at risk by having five hundred people in the gym at once,” Walsh said. At orientation, freshmen and sophomores played icebreaker games with other students in their assigned Charger Crew, explored the campus and received advice from their crew leaders on how to succeed in high school. “My group leaders answered all of my questions thoroughly and were extremely honest about their high school experience. They also introduced us to school staff and resources we could contact for help,” Freshman Amber Lee said. Despite the COVID-19 restrictions, Walsh is excited for the new year and looks forward to still planning traditional school events, including Prom, Wellness Week and talent shows. Week of Welcome helped many students adjust to inperson school and reconnect with their classmates, and ASB hopes that future events will encourage more bonding between students.
