Chapleau Arts and Crafts Fall Fair breaks attendance records!
By Phyllis McLeod he scarecrows have now returned home and the “scared crow”
T
has left the roost. The largest fair to date has wrapped up for another year. With a total of
fifty one extremely talented artisans providing everyone with a variety of beautifully made
crafts. Twenty one of these gifted people came from as far away as “ Courtice”, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Walford Station , Blind River, Elliot Lake, Sudbury, Thessalon, St Joseph Island, Quebec, Aylmer and Marathon. The winners for the best decorated booth according to the theme were: 1st place: Heather Clement; 2nd place Ethel Orton and 3rd place Melanie Mallek with prizes donated by Doug Collins. All judging was done by a noncommittee member and wishes to remain
anonymous. Many of the artisans either decorated their booths or dressed up and some both. It brings so much more to the fair when everyone does that little bit of extra. We w e r e doubly blessed with the beautiful voice and guitar playing by Daniel Godbout. What a treat. His beautiful voice even seemed to sooth the “screed crow”, as instead of squawking , he had that crow dancing and singing.. Hats off to you Daniel and thank you. In speaking of the “scared crow” Sylvie created this
talented bird with great imagination and creativity. Her talent for dance sure came in handy as well. It takes a hard working group of dedicated individuals to put this event together and take it all down again. Our committee consists of Sylvie Rousseau, Ludie O'Hearn, Sheila H u n t e r, M i r e i l l e Larocque, Jan Ribout, Heather Martin, Melanie Mallek, Katherine Elson, Sarah McLeod-Greig (Jr.Member), Ceilidh O'Hearn (Jr.Member), George McLeod, Chantal Servent and Cont’d on P.5
