BeforethefamilymovedtoNorthBayin 2008, he played Initiation, Novice andAtom on ChapleauMinorHockeyAssociationteams.The Elite Hockey Prospects web site says that he playedBantamAAAwiththeSudburyWolvesin 2012-13, then joined the Nickel City Sons Midget teams until he joined the Elliot Lake WildcatsoftheNorthernOntarioJuniorHockey Leagueforthe2014-15season.
Playing now with the Quebec Remparts, amajorjuniorteam,assuresDakotahaspotinthe annals of Chapleau hockey history I asked him howhefeltaboutit.
His text: "Making Chapleau hockey history is great knowing that my name will alwaysbethereisjustunreal.Goodtoknowthat thetownIspentmychildhooddaysknowswhatI haveaccomplishedthroughouttheyears."

50 ans, ça se fête ! Chapleau célèbre le drapeau franco-ontarienChapleau a vibré de joie et de fierté les 25 et 26 septembre derniers pour célébrer le 50e anniversaire du drapeau franco-ontarien. Les ac vités ont rassemblé les écoles francophones et les membres de la communauté dans une ambiance fes ve et colorée.La première ac vité s’est tenue le 25 septembre au pavillon derrière l’Hôtel de ville, là où se dresse en permanence le mât du drapeau francoontarien. Dès 13 h 30, les par cipants sont arrivés, dont les élèves des écoles primaires et secondaires, qui ont fait leur entrée en chantant et en faisant un ntamarre, vêtus fièrement de vert et de blanc. Avant la levée du drapeau, le chant « Notre Place » a été interprété sous forme de flashmob. Des discours et des lectures de le res d’élèves au sujet du drapeau ont suivi, ainsi que la levée du drapeau accompagnée de la nouvelle version du chant « Mon beau drapeau ». Les jeunes ont ensuite dansé et chanté la nouvelle chanson « Franco-O », et une photo de groupe a immortalisé cet

événement grandiose.Les par cipants ont ensuite poursuivi la fête dans la salle du conseil municipal, où les a endaient du blé d’Inde, des pe ts gâteaux, des boissons et des kiosques de groupes francophones locaux. Une toile à signatures et des rages de prix ont également ponctué l’aprèsmidi. Ce e ac vité a rassemblé 126 par cipants et les gagnants des prix de présence étaient Catherine Bouchard pour l’école primaire, Kris ne Boucher pour l’école secondaire et Doris For n pour la catégorie adulte. Les gagnants des t-shirts du 50e anniversaire étaient Henrie e Jean, Tracey Foucault et Lorraine For n.La célébra on s’est poursuivie le 26 septembre à l’École secondaire catholique Trillium avec un spectacle du groupe Les Rats d’Swompe, présenté par le Centre culturel. Les par cipants ont encore une fois affiché fièrement leurs couleurs vert et blanc, ainsi que des touches de noir et rouge.
Tous ont dansé, chanté et profité d’une soirée animée, ponctuée par des rages de tshirts du 50e anniversaire. Ce e ac vité a rassemblé 64 par cipants.
Cher drapeau franco-ontarien, Je m'appelle Xavier Bouchard. Ma fête est 2 jours avant qu'on te célèbre, alors c'est encore plus spécial pour moi.
D'abord, j'aime écouter de la musique française comme Le Loup de la Voix du Nord. Les chanteurs que j'aime sont : Gims, LGS et Rodney Meilleur. Leur musique me donne de l'énergie et ça me rend fier d'être franco.
Aussi, je parle français tous les jours en Ontario. Je vais à une école française et j'en suis très fier. Mon père vient du Québec, alors on garde le français vivant dans ma famille. Merci d'être ici en Ontario et de nous rappeler qu'on peut être francophones même si on est loin du Québec.

Bonjour le drapeau franco, Mon nom est Jovie et je suis une élève de la sixième année. Mon père est francophone et ma mère est anglophone. J'aime être francophone et je suis fière d'être franco-ontarienne. Ma chanson préférée est « Mon beau drapeau ».
D'abord, je n'ai pas beaucoup de faits à ton sujet, mais voici ceux que je connais : le vert et le blanc. Le vert représente l'été et le blanc représente l'hiver Tu as une fleur de lys et un trillium.
Ensuite, j'ai beaucoup aimé le concert de LGS de l'année passée.Ainsi, j'ai appris qu'être franco-ontarienne ce n'est pas si pire ou mauvais. C'est même beaucoup de plaisir! De plus, mon enseignante au jardin utilisait des expressions françaises qui me faisaient rire, comme « grouille grenouille ».
Finalement, merci d'être le symbole de ma fierté et de la fierté de tous les francophones!

Dakotah, 17, is six feet four inches tall and weighs 205 pounds. His National Hockey Leaguedraftyearis2016.

So proud.Watched him come out of dressing room and seeing the smile on his face was priceless," Gordiewrote.
On a very personal basis, I am so very proud too. I have known Gordie for over 30 years, and even though I now live in British Columbia, we have remained friends, and over the past few years he has kept me posted on Dakotah'sprogress.

The Superior East and Sault Ste Marie detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recently seen an increase in complaints of underage youth operating dirt bikes,all-terrainvehicles(ATVs)andotheroffroad vehicles (ORVs) around local communities.
ORVisabroadtermthatincludessingle rider and two-up ATVs, utility terrain vehicles (UTV), recreational off highway vehicles (ROV), extreme-terrain vehicles (XTV), and off-roadmotorcycles(ORM)
The OPP is reminding the public that driving an ORV without a licence on public roadsisnotonlydangerous,butillegal Itcanre sult in charges and fines under the Highway TrafficAct
Unless the vehicle is driven on property owned by the driver or under direct supervision of an adult,theserulesapply:
· Foroff-roadriding,thedrivermustbeat least12yearsold Foron-roadriding,thedriver must be at least 16 years old and have a G2/M2 licence
· Drivers must wear an approved helmet thatissecurelyfastenedunderthechin
· Vehicles must be registered, plated and insured
· If the posted speed limit is 50km/hr or less, max. ORV speed is 20km/hr. If the posted speedlimitisover50km/hr,max.ORVspeedis 50km/hr.
· When on-road, drivers must travel the same direction as traffic, on the shoulder when possible
· Drivers must never drink alcohol while operating an ORV on or off-road It carries the same penalties as impaired driving in a motor vehicle.
· For on-road riding, a passenger must be atleast8yearsold.
