10th-12th grade: Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to handson projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product.
FACULTY
10th-12th grade: Students explore a broad range of engineering topics including mechanisms, strength of structure and materials, and automation, and then they apply what they know to take on challenges like designing a self-powered car.
Mr. Chris Salaveria IED, POE, DE
PLTW
11th-12th grade: Students investigate and design solutions in response to real-world challenges related to clean and abundant drinking water, food supply, and renewable energy.
Mrs. Jessica Young DM, IED, ES, AE
11th-12th grade: Students explore the physics of flight and bring what they’re learning to life through hands-on projects like designing a glider and creating a program for an autonomous space rover.
11th-12th grade: Students explore the foundations of computing by engaging in circuit design processes to create combinational logic and sequential logic (memory) as electrical engineers do in industry.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STEM
HIGH SCHOOL ENGINEERING
6th: Magic of
Electrons (ME) Through hands-on projects, students explore electricity, the behavior and parts of atoms, and sensing devices. They learn knowledge and skills in basic circuitry design, and examine the impact of electricity on the world around them.
7th: Automation and Robotics (AR) Students trace the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students use the VEX Robotics® platform to design, build, and program real-world objects such as traffic lights, toll booths, and robotic arms.
8th: Design and Modeling (DM) Students discover the design process and develop an understanding of the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives. They are then challenged and empowered to use and apply what they’ve learned throughout the unit to design a therapeutic toy for a child who has cerebral palsy
9th: Accelerated Intro Eng. Design (IED) An accelerated course offered to students who attended Chaminade middle school. These students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product.
