Meeting the Student Council We asked the student council some few questions (some of them were busy so they answered some of them)… 1) What are your ideas for improving the school? 3) What do you think is the purpose of the Student Council? How will you achieve it? 2) What’s the best thing about being part 4)What advice would you give to the students who are interested of the student council? in trying out for student council next year?

1)“Like I said in the voting speech, I will listen to the students, speak alongside the students, and support their ideas. You want a change to happen, and you want help? Come to me. I will be your microphone.” 2) “Being in this organized group of my fellow students, cooperating with them to make our school a better place - the whole thing is joyous.”

President, Leadership Committee Lead, Ms. Van Lankvelt Advisory

Vice-President & Mr. Wyss-Lockner Advisory Rep.

3) “The student council exists to respect and gather opinions/suggestions from the biggest community in CI, the students. Our purpose is to represent them and contribute to the school.” 4) “Different individuals have different ways of presenting themselves to people, and it is impor tant to have your own way of getting used to the StuCo community and develop from it. Though I will say, you will have absolutely nothing to worry about. If you truly wanted to help out the students when you join the student council, you will have no problem.”

EMILY CHOI DREAM CHASER A flora cannot exist without the illuminating sunlight that aids them in their growth. A condor cannot take its grand flight with the temperature required to cause an updraft. And perhaps we cannot spiritually go on with somebody we look up to or perhaps an inspiration from our peers. Her name is Emily Choi, a unique ninth grader who makes us acknowledge the fact that there’s something we have to be aware of and “see” in our life. According to her, her inspiration is to surpass others, in other words, become the superior of all. She shows us that sometimes our passion may have much more potential to influence us, from her scribbled work that yells her emotions. From the artwork displayed above, some would believe that her artwork may not contain much value and merely are personal artwork by a typical student, however we can see how she denies the pressure many Korean students receive to become perfect and express her creativity freely with the only limit being her imagination. Although still in consideration, her goals include tattoo artist and animator producer, and she believes some changes are required in our modern cartoons such as representing more various types of people, enough to resemble reality. For all the artistically talented ones who seek guidance, Ms. Choi recommends us with a word familiar yet filled with impact, “practice”. The former school magazines would’ve never reached their impressive quality with her efforts of three years at the Belltower magazine.

Interviewing Mr. Clark The Middle School Counselor

Why have you decided to become a school counselor in Chadwick?

!

There’s more to school other than classroom and homework. i think it important to adjust other people’s life issues other than just work in classrooms. I enjoy working with students, guiding them to become better members of the society.

! !

What is the number one issue in Chadwick as your observation?

!

The number one issue that I found is conflicts of amongst peers and friend and feeling overwhelmed over demands and peer pressure from classrooms.

“So when my dad was young, he ate a coin”

“Dad said that when he went to the bathroom, he prayed to Jesus while crying”

“He cried for like half a hour while in the bathroom, until it came out.”

“And then he told his dad about what he did one minute ago, and then he said..”

“Because you ate the coin, you’re going die any minute now”

“When my dad heard this, he started to panic.”

“His mom told him that it’s going to come out, and I’m sure what you mean by where its going to come out. He screamed, “I don’t wanna die” multiple times, even when he’s not going to die.”

The story was amazing.

Jim decided to tell a joke to Tim, and Tim accepts.

While Tim just chuckles, quite savage don’t you think?

Jim says, “Why did the chicken cross the road?”

Tim said, “Jim honestly I’m really sick of that old cheap joke, it doesn’t even make sense.”

Jim says, “No idiot, the chicken crossed the road to get to the idiot’s house.”

Tim said, “Oh, then what time does the chicken arrive to your house?”

We’re sure Jim is angry and possibly called him something that he shouldn’t do.

This happened between me and Fadi, except I didn’t beat him up, maybe.

I thought it would be better if I use names, “Tim” and “Jim”.

Comic- Me

And then Jim decided to beat up Tim. Jim is now in detention for week.

“So usually in the elevator, I would sometimes rest my head against the wall, I often get tired easily.”

“One time I rested my head on the green poster in the elevator and then..”

“And I decided to read the green poster and I regretted that decision.”

This is a true story.

Comic- Me

“Next to my head, a gigantic grasshopper, which was camouflaged on the poster, and I was obviously shocked”

“One of the antennas touched me, and I cried metamorphic tears.”
