About CFVA

Central Florida Vocal Arts is a non-profit, music advocacy organization dedicated to providing the highest quality training to artists of all ages and abilities, while also providing paid performance opportunities to professional artists. We are ensuring all people in our community have equitable access to meaningful arts experiences. Through our programs we develop greater diversity, inclusivity and empathy in the arts community and across sectors.

Our Educational initiatives develop students’ talent, passion and confidence, as we overcome barriers to accessibility, including a student's ability to pay for training.

Our Mainstage productions collaborate with charitable community partners to build awareness of their mission through our arts platform. These productions provide paid opportunities to artists and exceptional performances to audiences.

Opera del Sol challenges the boundaries and norms of the operatic genre, while addressing difficult social issues. You can find Opera del Sol providing curated arts performances across our community, year round!

Executive Director's Message

How is it possible that we less than a month away from 2023? This season, Central Florida Vocal Arts is celebrating its tenth anniversary and in the same way that this past year has flown by, so has the past decade! What began as my dream has become a midsize arts organization that employs hundreds of artists annually, serves thousands of student artists, and has awarded tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to create equitable access to music education

As our lives seem to move ever quicker, the role of the arts in our community takes on even greater importance. Our programs cultivate greatness in young artists. Our classes bring meaning to the lives of senior singers. Our performances welcome new audiences to the theater and with it, the powerful impact that the arts can have on minds and hearts. We affirm that every person in our community deserves equitable access to meaningful arts experiences that can change their lives and that by changing individuals, we forever change our whole community, for the better.

In addition to our ten year anniversary, 2022 has given us many reasons to celebrate! This year we launched a voice class at Pace Center for Girls and the Eatonville Boys & Girls Club. We expanded our Arts 1:1 program that serves under-resourced youth in public school settings to Osceola County and have nearly doubled the number of students served in Orange County. We have forged partnerships with the Winter Park Library, the Center for Health & Wellbeing, and the Orange County Library systems. AND we moved our entire season of performances to The Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts! We have done all of this while maintaining and expanding our existing programs and caliber of work.

I encourage you to explore the impact numbers included with this letter along with what our constituents and community leaders have to say about our work Your support makes this impact possible We are thankful for you!

2022 on the Mainstage

2022 began with the world premiere of Melina, written and directed by Central Florida playwright Gretchen Suarez-Pena, presented at The Orlando Shakes. We celebrated the opening of our tenth anniversary season in the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts in August 2022 with The Sound of Music. The run of this production was completely sold out both in Orlando and for our Space Coast tour. We are so excited for this new and successful relationship and hope you will join us at the Dr. Phillips Center for many seasons to come!

As a transgender person, sometimes I can be a little nervous about if I will fit in to these kind of events, but everyone made me feel very cared for and understood. From asking for my preferred pronouns to just talking to me a little bit beforehand, it made a whole world of difference!! Thank you all so much for such an incredible experience :) It makes me wish I was an underclassman so I could come back next year!! You guys rock!!!

Donor Spotlights

Our family supports Central Florida Vocal Arts because we enjoy their productions every season, and they truly enhance performing arts in our community. We especially appreciate that CFVA is very diverse and inclusive, as well as locally-founded, giving so many opportunities to local artists and production team-members and providing affordable student education right here in our area.

Central Florida Vocal Arts is an organization with absolutely wonderful people. They have a mission to make arts education available for all students no matter their background. We are happy to donate to a company who wants to make the world a better place through art and theater.
