2011 GRANT APPLICATION The Wilderness Trace Community Foundation (“WTCF”), an affiliate of The Community Foundation of Louisville, was created in 2002 to provide philanthropic resources to Boyle, Garrard, Mercer and Lincoln Counties in Kentucky. Funding for this program was provided by an unrestricted gift from Dr. Richard C. Brown to address the ever-changing community needs of the Wilderness Trace area. Dr. Brown taught American History at Buffalo State College in New York for 28 years and authored The History of Danville & Boyle County and The History of the Presbyterian Church in addition to many history textbooks. Dr. Brown believed his unrestricted gift to the Wilderness Trace Community Foundation was the most appropriate way to address the area’s needs now and in the future. Program Focus: WTCF will provide grant funds to projects that improve the quality of life of residents in the Wilderness Trace area with a preference for “basic need” projects such as food banks, homeless shelters, or any unexpected needs of local nonprofits resulting from the downturn in the local economy. Each county is eligible to receive awards of up to $750.
