The Chamber’s membership encompasses a broad spectrum of over 200 British, Czech and international companies, working closely with all these members to provide individualized support and market expertise.

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Trade Assistant – BCC interns assist the trade development activities of the British Chamber of Commerce in Prague with a focus on services offered to British companies interested in developing their sales and market presence in the Czech Republic. Some of the regular tasks are (not limited to): invitations for UK companies for trade fairs, organizing

ČEZ Group (Energy)

National Institute of Mental Health

National Institute of Mental Health is a national reference institution for the field of mental health. NIMH program is focused on researching neurobiological mechanisms that lead to development of severe mental disorders (schizophrenia, depression, anxiety and stress reactions). Research also includes development and testing of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods. The approach is based upon interconnection of methods of molecular biology, animal modelling and clinical research and testing.

• So far our we have communicated with Zentiva about internships on business/ecomonic positions/department. The internees have a unique opportunity to take a look into the background of one of the pharmaceutical giants. The work content mostly rely on the expectations of the internee.

FORUM 2000 Foundation

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Forum 2000 offers meaningful work for an internationally respected foundation on a variety of projects with worldwide outreach. Interns have opportunity to use and further develop their writing and language skills. The position requires a native level of English as the main responsibility of an intern is proofreading and editing texts. Duties may also include a variety of tasks such as preparing background materials for the Foundation´s projects, internet research, support of PR and fundraising activities, as well as administrative office support, or assistance with the preparation of Forum 2000 projects and events. A letter of recommendation will be issued at the end of the internship.

CEJISS

Areas of Interest:

• International Relations

The Central European Journal of International and Security Studies (CEJISS) was founded in December 2006 as an autonomous wing of the Department of International Relations and European Studies at Metropolitan University Prague. The initial goal was to develop, and project globally, a uniquely Central European take on unfolding international and security issues and at first focused on scholars and topics from the four Central European states – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic. By the time of the first issue however, it became clear that CEJISS was also capable of acting as a platform for non-Central European scholars to present their academic research to a more regionalized audience. From issue 1:1 in June 2007 until the present, CEJISS has become, quite literally, a two-way street it helps Central European scholars enter international academia and international scholars enter Central Europe. This is reflected in the diversity of our boards, authors and readership; and

The Euro-Gulf Information Centre (EGIC) is an initiative that builds socio-political, strategic, cultural and economic bridges between the people of Europe and the Arabian Gulf. Founded in October 2015 as a legal — not for profit — Association, in Rome, Italy, EGIC draws on the expertise of a multitude of scholars, policy makers, economists and members of European and Gulf civil societies to enhance interregional relations.

European Security Journal

The European Security Journal (ESJ) is an online publication that provides news coverage, analysis, and interviews on various security topics relevant for Europe. The ESJ aims to provide brief, concise, and unbiased information about security developments to the European public. The editorial team consists of topic experts, journalists, recent graduates, and university students. ESJ also cooperates with a wide range of academic institutions and think tanks.

Prague Centre for Media Skills

Areas of Interest:

• International Relations

Prague centre for Media Skills aim to develop fair, inclusive, transparent and informed societies trough quality reporting. They believe that the role of media is to be society´s watchdog and that they should anchor and deepen democracy. They provide training and opportunities for professionals and aim to establish systematic change in society.

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Helping with organizational agenda – taking part on the conference or particular ad hoc tasks at CEDMO.

Political Prisoners

Areas of Interest:

• Promotion

Political Prisoners.eu is an association mainly focusing on the issue of political prisoners of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. The official name in Czech is Spolek Političtí vězni.cz. The association has collected the oral historical testimonies of former political prisoners and tries to popularize their history in various ways. Among other things, it has produced several publications and restored the educational trail 'Jáchymov Hell' in Jáchymov. Organization is a member of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience.

Typical Intern Responsibilities: Particular duties will be determined by applicant´s skills and internship goals, however this opportunity offers work in one of more of the following areas:

• Website, Video, photo or text editing

• PR work, Promotion of virtual guided tours

• On-line research (e.g. in the US archives and museum databases)

• Popularization of oral histories of the survivors

• Compiling education materials

Iuridicum remedium is an NGO focusing on enforcing human rights both in digital and real world. Their goal is to make access to legal help affordable to everyone. Their current focus is on digital rights and freedoms – privacy rights, copyright, etc.

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Coordination of a conference organized in cooperation with Prague Centre for Media Skills – „Promoting rights in digital era: Raising awareness and professional standards in journalism about the impact of modern technologies on human rights.“ Other tasks will be decided accordingly to the expectations of the internee.

NOVA TV

Areas of Interest:

• TV

• Casting

TV Nova is the biggest commercial television station in the Czech Republic and is one of the most successful and profitable commercial TV stations in Europe. Launched in 1994, TV Nova was the first privately owned commercial network broadcasting throughout the Czech Republic. Shortly after its launch, it became the market leader in terms of the viewership, advertising revenues, usage of technology, design and graphics, marketing and PR, charitable projects and film coproductions. Acquired by Central European Media Enterprises (CME) in 2005, TV Nova broadcasts 24 hours a day, reaching 99.5% of households. TV Nova provides the top-rated programming on the Czech market through a mix of its own strong local fiction and non-fiction productions, foreign acquisitions, entertainment shows and its flagship main television news that generates, on average, 55% audience share in the 15-54 target group. Some of the best performing shows on TV Nova in 2011 included the long running fiction series Rose Garden Medical Clinic (Ordinace v růžové zahradě) with an average audience share of 48.1%.

Forum 50 % is a non-profit organization supporting equal participation of women and men in politics and in decision making. Although women comprise 50 % of the population, their representation in politics is only 20 % on average. Forum 50 % strive for more balanced decision-making process including not only men’s but also women’s views and life experience.

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Research in the field of women’s political representation, women’s suffrage and gender quotas around the world

• Writing articles about significant women politicians

Caritas Czech Republic

Areas of Interest:

• Humanitarian Help Management

Caritas Czech Republic is the largest provider of social and health services in the Czech Republic and offers help to people in need both in the Czech Republic and abroad and operates a wide network of social, health and humanitarian services of more than 300 charities and cooperates with the Caritas Internationalis and the Caritas Europe network. Caritas Czech Republic is a non-governmental not-for-profit organization and part of the Roman Catholic Church and its work is based on Christian principles. The humanitarian and development aid of Caritas has representation in 29 countries of the world (eg Zambia, Iraq, Moldova, Mongolia, etc.) mainly in the fields of health, social care and education. It also supports agriculture and civil society.

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Data collection and its processing into the humanitarian profile based on the countries of our competence and humanitarian assistance in the given areas (natural disasters, man-made crisis situations, CHR donors, CHR local and international partners, etc.). The work consists of searching information from internal documents of the Czechoslovak Republic, project documents, etc.

• Another integral part of the internship is administrative assistance for humanitarian aid and development cooperation (the possibility of cooperation with regional managers, program managers of the countries or financial manager)

• Work on text, project documentation

Consortium of NGOs working with migrants

Areas of Interest:

Consortium is an umbrella organization roofing 14 organizations supporting refugees. Their main goal is to build strong coalition in NGO sector capable to successfully protect and support human rights of refugees by initiating communication between NGOs, government and academic sphere.

Prague Center for Integration of Foreigners

Areas of Interest:

It is a non-profit civic association for the purpose of helping foreigners participate in Czech society and become a part of it. CIC provides several services to immigrants as well as to Czech citizens, promotes and initiates good and innovative practices, supports vulnerable people, and open society, understanding and respect among people regardless their country of origin, mother-tongue, sex, race or religion.

Prague Counseling Center for Integration

Areas of Interest:

• Integration

The Prague Counseling Centre for Integration has been providing professional social counseling, legal assistance and social activation services to its clients, international families with children since 1997. Today it is already an expert organization in the area of migration and foreign affairs. The center operates in two regions, Prague and Ústí nad Labem.

The main purpose of social counseling is professional social and legal assistance to clients. In particular, informing clients about the functioning of the system in the Czech Republic, providing job counseling, assistance in finding housing, supporting clients in providing education and accompanying the authorities, doctors and other institutions. Legal counseling helps clients in the area of residence permit, in some civil litigation, in addressing questions about granting or refusing to grant citizenship.

Unicef Prague

Areas of Interest:

• Humanitarian Help Marketing

UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential. The Integration Advisor is a non-governmental non-profit organization - a registered institute. Provides legal, social or psychosocial support and education support. In developed countries such as the Czech Republic, UNICEF acts through the national committees, whose role is to promote the fulfilment of children’s rights and raise funds for assistance programs. UNICEF’s work is funded entirely by voluntary contributions from the sale of greeting cards and giftware. It also provides Czech language teaching for children and adults and offers tutoring for regular school subjects.

ŽIVOT90

Areas of Interest:

The association Zivot 90 (Life 90) was founded in 1990 with the goal of enabling senior citizens to live a fulfilled life where they are happiestat home. Since 1995 we run a community center for senior citizens, their carers and families in the middle of the historical part of Prague.

• Event Planning

We offer our services 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day, not only within Prague but throughout the Czech Republic.

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Assistance in planning and organizing educational and leisure time activities for seniors (trips, English language courses, workshops, etc.)

• Help with organizing some of ŽIVOT90 traditional events for public (Senior Mile, Christmas Driving in Prague, etc.),

• Representation of Život90 at events (eg trade fairs),

• Administrative assistance, translations, and proofreading

URBAN STUDIES

Prague Institute of Urban Planning and Development

Areas of Interest:

• City Development

The Prague Institute of Planning and Development (IPR Prague) is the body in charge of developing the concept behind the city’s architecture, urbanism, development and formation. It is an organization funded by Prague and represents the city in spatial planning matters.

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Assistance with an English version of the IPR website and quarterly international newsletter

• Assistance in international projects (see above the list of international projects)

• Communication with international teams in competitions

• Assistance in meetings with international partners (note taking, email communication, etc.)

reSITE

Areas of Interest:

• Event Development and Marketing

reSITE is a global non-profit acting to improve the urban environment. The main focus of reSITE is organize conferences, custom workshops, film festivals, urban games, lectures, seminars, bike rides and other events. reSITE also provides consultancy.

Typical Intern Responsibilities:

• Together with the Executive Director and Development Manager and other reSITE team members, develop and execute reSITE plans and events.

• Production, including but not limited to assistance with marketing and event management / coordination.
