Curriculum
Fall/Spring:
Modern Standard Arabic + Jordanian Dialect + 2 or 3 electives (15-18 credits)
Summer: Three options: Intensive Language, Internship, or Research (7-9 credits)
Courses
MODERN STANDARD ARABIC All levels available, novice to advanced.
Fall/Spring: 6 credits
Summer: Intensive Language (6 credits) or Internship/Research (4 credits)
JORDANIAN DIALECT
Fall/Spring: 3 credits
Summer: Intensive Language (3 credits) or Internship/Research (2 credits)
ELECTIVES (Fall/Spring only. 3 credits each)
• Courses in media, politics, gender studies, arts, & religion
• Taught in English, Arabic, or both

FIELD-BASED ELECTIVES

Live in an apartment with CET peers
Maintain a language pledge and earn an OPI certificate
Travel to Petra, Wadi Rum, & other sites around Jordan
CONNECTING LOCALLY IN AMMAN
• Live next to jiran (neighbors): local students who plan activities in the city, help you navigate life in Arabic, and provide a place to hang out or take a break from studying.
• Meet weekly with your language partner. Try out new cafés, talk about what you’re learning in class, and explore Amman together.
• Plus, CET staff are there to support you every step of the way & help you make the most of your time in Jordan.
