Curriculum

Fall/Spring:

Japanese language + 1 to 3 electives. Open to all levels.

Summer:

Japanese language. Pre-requisite: 2 semesters of Japanese.

Courses

JAPANESE LANGUAGE

Fall/Spring:

• Choose 12 credits of language and cover 1 year of Japanese in 1 term, or select the 6-credit option to balance Japanese with electives

Summer:

• 9 credits of Japanese and cover 1 year of Japanese in 1 summer

ELECTIVES (Fall/Spring only. 1.5, 3, or 4 credits)

• CET-taught studio arts electives: Character Design in a Japanese Context, and Manga Creation

• Direct-enroll electives at OGU: topics have included business, technology, pop culture, & environmental issues

Study at Osaka Gakuin University (OGU)

Live in your own room in an apartment shared with CET peers & local roommates

Smaller program with lots of support

Travel beyond Osaka to off-the-beaten path destinations

Program activities that help you explore Japan and its culture:

• Indulge in an okashi (junk food) party with local roommates

• Dive in with workshops on tea ceremony or ukiyo-e

• Try a pottery class or a kintsugi class taught in Japanese

• Learn about architecture and visit Himeji Castle
