The Regions of the Central Coast

The Central Coast is comprised of four regions: Monterey Bay, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. Each offers incredible year-round weather, distinctive towns, outdoor adventures, shopping, amazing food, wine and beer, and cultural events.

Start exploring at CentralCoast-Tourism.com/Explore, where you’ll find:

ROAD TRIP itineraries

Discover hidden gems along U.S. Route 101, California State Highway 1 (also known as Pacific Coast Highway), and the many scenic routes throughout the Central Coast.

At roughly 13,000 square miles, the Central Coast would take 8-10 hours to drive straight through. In order to experience everything the charming coastal and rural communities have to offer, we recommend spending at least 2-4 days in each region.

With abundant outdoor activities, the Central Coast is about taking the time to enjoy. And it’s worth every second.
