Just to the south of Sandwich is the town of Mashpee, another important cultural destination known for its rich Native American history and culture, which continues to thrive in this small town thanks to the efforts of the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe. This tribe hosts a variety of cultural activities throughout the year, including an annual Powwow.

Mashpee is also a destination for shopping and dining, featuring two of the largest shopping centers on the Cape, Mashpee Commons and South Cape Village.
