La construcción del mundo que nos rodea, como un panorama de materiales, colores y formas que determinarán cómo será el mismo, es un relato de posibles —ficciones en potencia o realidades en acto—. Todo es realidad pero parece una ficción.

The construction of the world around us, like a panorama of materials, colours and shapes that determine what it will be like, is a story of possibilities –potential fictions or realities in action–.

Everything is reality but appears to be fiction.

Para Koselleck2, la historia de la Modernidad nace junto a una forma particular de experimentar la temporalidad del mundo; nace con la experiencia vivida del campo histórico, es decir, los acontecimientos suelen frustrar las expectativas. Estos fenómenos imprevistos e impredecibles generarán otras expectativas antes frustradas, otras ficciones en potencia, otras realidades en acto.

Koselleck2 believed that the history of Modernity emerged alongside a particular way of experiencing the temporality of the world; it emerged with the acquired experience of the historical field, that is: events usually frustrate expectations. Frustrated expectations generate unforeseen and unpredictable phenomena; other potential fictions, other realities in action.

Mc City es la inesperada y especulativa construcción de la ciudad, en este caso Miami, en contraposición pero también en asociación a la construcción de la ciudad europea, dando visibilidad al exceso frente a lo invisible, y también a los modos de especulación, deseo y oferta del mercado capitalista. El proyecto parte de la creación de archivos locales a partir del periódico miamense The Miami Herald, en diálogo con periódicos españoles. Son las noticias –los titulares- que se publican en la prensa las que nos sitúan en los diversos barrios que construyen la ciudad -–marcando a la sociedad que la habita y dotándola de capas de información visual, numérica y conceptual–.

MC City is the unexpected and speculative construction of the city, in this case, Miami opposed but also in association with the construction of the European city, giving visibility to the excess against the invisible –modes of speculation, desire and the capitalist market–. The project is based on the creation of local files from the Miami newspaper: The Miami Herald in dialogue with Spanish newspapers. The headlines of the news published in the press, situate us in the diverse neighborhoods that build the city –marking the society that inhabits it and providing it with layers of visual, conceptual and numerical information–.

Un coche europeo transita entre la urbe miamense y la exuberante botánica de Florida, entre el lujo y la marginalidad, entre el centro y la periferia, entre la ficción y la realidad.

A European car moves between the Miami metropolis and the exuberant Florida botany, between luxury and marginality, between the centre and the periphery, between fiction and reality.

1.- En los suburbios estadounidenses, una McMansion es considerada una casa de lujo, muy grande en proporción a la parcela o incongruente al barrio donde se ubica. También puede ser una casa perteneciente a una subdivisión de casas iguales, carentes de características distintivas, y vinculadas a la construcción masiva.
