In 2012, the 40th Annual Conference for The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) is held in Detroit, MI from October 18th - October 20th. This publication is a digital version of the printed hard copy passed out at the conference. The conference program book contains; Conference Summary, Seminar Schedules, Speaker & Bios, Host Hotel Plans, Ads, Infographic on NOMA National History Time Line and additional information for on the conference. Twelve African-American architects from different parts of the country met, some for the first time, during the AIA National Convention in Detroit in 1971. These professionals recognized the need for an organization dedicated to the development and advancement of minority architects. This was the beginning of the National Organization of Minority Architects. 40 years later after the first NOMA Board Meeting in 1972, the organization celebrates in the birth place of Detroit. “A Legacy Driven by Design”, 40 years in the making.
