LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Friend of PAWS: What a year! With your help and support, PAWS was able to make a huge impact in our community in 2014.

Here are a few highlights: • PAWS set a record for the number of adoptions in 2014: 390 cats and 352 dogs.

• Through the PAWS spay/neuter clinics and vouchers, almost 2,000 dogs and cats were altered – a new record for PAWS. Matt fern

• PAWS volunteers donated over 39,000 hours of service to the organization, valued at over $200,000.

• The number of PAWS foster families increased with 53 families fostering dogs and 60 families fostering cats.

Your support makes it possible for our animals to have the best care possible until they find forever homes. If you’ve adopted, volunteered, fostered or donated, we cannot thank you enough for being a caring and compassionate friend to PAWS! Here’s to a great 2015!

OUR MISSION Centre County PAWS is committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs, educating citizens on responsible pet ownership, providing spay/neuter assistance, and ending pet overpopulation. We are a non-euthanasia, member-supported, volunteer-enabled organization dedicated to the Promotion of Animal Welfare and Safety.

PAWS works hard to use donations efficiently while still providing exemplary care to cats and dogs during their journey to find their forever homes. The average length of stay was 104 days for cats and 42 days for dogs during 2014.

Every PAWS cat and dog is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going to their forever home. A voucher for a complimentary veterinary exam is also given to adopters.

APPLICATION SUMMARY Our record adoption statistics are made possible by the high number of successful adoption applications we process each year. Indeed, we are fortunate to have so many wonderful individuals and families looking to adopt their new best friend from PAWS. Ultimately, the application process allows our adoption counselors to ensure that each PAWS animal is properly matched and will be adopted into his or her “forever home.”

Of the 458 cat applications and 757 dog applications we received this year, only 3.7% of cat applications and 4.9% of dog applications were not approved.

SPAY/NEUTER

Through PAWS’ Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), we helped alter almost 2,000 animals in 2014, a record number!

OUR HEART & SOUL

Simply put, PAWS could not help the hundreds of cats and dogs we take in each year without our volunteers and foster families. It takes hundreds of volunteers and staff hours to maintain the Adoption Center, provide animal care, facilitate adoptions, organize in-shelter cat and dog training, and coordinate events. With a limited number of paid staff, these volunteers and foster families are truly the heart and soul of PAWS.
