Dear friends of paws, Your tremendous support of Centre County PAWS in 2015 was immensely inspiring. I am proud to be part of such a compassionate community where animals are cared for and valued.

Because you adopted, fostered, volunteered, and donated, here are a few of the things we, as a community, were able to accomplish last year: • 353 dogs and a record 584 cats found forever homes!

• 70 orphaned kittens had a safe place to grow and thrive.

• 2,362 cats and dogs were spayed or neutered, helping to control animal overpopulation in central Pennsylvania.

As you read this review, you will see more of the accomplishments your generous support made possible. You are truly an animal-ally and together we can continue to make a big difference in the lives of cats and dogs in need. Thank you!

Our mission Centre County PAWS is committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs, educating citizens on responsible pet ownership, providing spay/ neuter assistance, and ending pet overpopulation.

We are a non-euthanasia, member-supported, volunteer-enabled organization dedicated to the Promotion of Animal Welfare and Safety.

Every cat and dog has a story. Once they are through our doors, we promise theirs will have a happy ending. You made a record number of happy endings possible in 2015 by opening your hearts and homes! Cat-lovers were especially welcoming, saving almost 200 more lives than we ever have before in a single year. Our volunteer Adoption Counselors were busy behind the scenes, working with our cat and dog shift workers every day to make your perfect canine or feline match. It is an immeasurable reward for our volunteers and staff to see animals go from unwanted to adored. We cannot thank our community enough.

It’s simple—more foster homes! More homes meant more space, which meant more lives saved.

Application Summary Of the 603 cat applications and 918 dog applications we received this year, only 3% of cat applications and 4% of dog applications were not approved.

PAWS Nursing & Orphan Kitten Program Our volunteers are on call and respond to requests for help with nursing or orphaned kittens almost daily during spring and summer (aka “Kitten Season”).

Extremely young kittens without a mother need immediate help or they will not make it.

2015 was the first year that PAWS had to operate without the cushion of the local rescue group, Orphaned Kitten Program. After its dissolution, we worked with its former president to develop our very own bottle baby program at PAWS. We responded to an incredible 56 orphaned kitten emergencies.

We learned a great deal about our community’s needs and how to save even more kittens in 2016.

Thanks to your donations to our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) and our medical fund, PAWS was able to alter 2,362 total animals in 2015, a 22% increase over the previous year!
