In traditional Asia society, asians prefer to live with family, parents, and grandparents to have an emotionally fulfilled lifestyle for the parents. This house owner is the second generation of the family, considering the parents are getting older, and not suitable for living in an old 3-story house by every day climbing the stairs. So the owner bought two brand new units on the same floor and planned to open the separation wall for good. Not only for the original family members and also the future new family members(3rd generation)

A typical small family type follows the life track to downsize their living place for different family stages when the kid is going aboard for studying, the parents decided to downsize the living place. As the owner in their late 40’s already planned their retirement plan, so they hope the new place can still retain a cozy atmosphere and also keep some old furniture to set in the new house. the main color tone is white, and for the project design concept, the most important thing is the design needs to match the original furniture style but still look new and elegant.

CoZY

LOCATION: Taipei, Taiwan

AREA: 100.65 m²

PROJECT TYPE: Residential, 27 years old apprtement renovation

This is an old apartment about 20 years old. Due to the addition of new members, the owner hopes to renovate the original space in the next ten years to provide a comfortable environment for children to grow up in. Members who use the space include couples, two children, and parents who come to Taipei occasionally.

In this design, the original entrance was canceled, and the living room and dining room were combined into one. In the small square space, create a large square space texture. At the same time, in order to meet the needs for storage, we organize the TV cabinet into a large space. Storage space, but in order not to make the volume too large, the cabinets are fragmented, so that strip lines can enrich the space of the living room. The backrest of the sofa adopts a combination of cultural stones to soften the space with irregular surface materials. a feeling.

The owner of this case hopes that the kitchen can get more light, so the kitchen is arranged at the corner window of the plane, but the problem of increasing the circulation line appears. Therefore, the public bathroom adopts the design of dry and wet separation, so that the circulation line can be sharedbythepublic.Thewashbasinspaceextends all the way to the kitchen, solving the trouble of moving. At the same time, due to the enlarged window area and good lighting, such a kitchen is no longer just a functional space. With the planning of the bar, it has become a good place for parent-child interaction.

In this case, we hope to create a comfortable and warm atmosphere for the small family, so that each family member has a relaxing space after returning home, andletsthe children grow up simply and happily. A comfortable place to recharge for every busy

Embrace riverside

LOCATION: New Taipei city, Taiwan AREA: 128.7 m²

PROJECT TYPE: Residential, new condo renovation

The owner of the house has been doing business abroad for many years. After the child grew up, he and his wife decided to return to Taiwan to settle down and retire. When they returned to the city where they first met, they chose to live by the river. Traffic and views are good. This case is a new house. The owner hopes that the existing tiles and bathroom area will not be changed. But we wanted a better view, so we removed the partition between the dining room and the living room. In addition, in the kitchen area, we set it as semi-open due to the usual cooking habits. In the kitchen, use sliding doors to separate space and taste. In the living room and dining area, a complete storage wardrobe is designed so the hostess can store her favorite clothes and bags. And also based on the client’s industry, in this project we used multiple materials in one design to match the owner’s imagination of his ideal home.

Into the sky

LOCATION: Taipei city, Taiwan

AREA: 79.2m²

PROJECT TYPE: Residential 9 years condo unit renovation

A modern small family, the couples are airline pilots with one little boy together living settled in Taipei city. In this project, the difficulty is within a limited space needing to have a study room and keep the unit having 2 bedrooms and a storage area. Also, the owner likes the simple but functional design setting, so asking to keep the original A/C system. Still, the new ceiling should be moveable to allow in future they can change the A/C system without breaking the ceiling. The design concept comes from simple but natural materials. Therefore, the TV wall is designed to use the minimum material-just baking paint with a simple shape to only emphasis the lines. During the renovation, they need to rent a new unit to stay so the renovation schedule also needs to be on time and tight.

SPACE PLANNING

By setting the bar area in the middle space to separate the whole open lobby space into two major parts- reception / service area vs. rest / relax area, it also makes the circulation more fluid and putting waiter stand station next to the bar to let customers can easily get the services.

The lounge area, we considered different customers layer, it can be simplified as an open lounge area and semi-open lounge area to let some customers allow to obtain a bit of private space while waiting
