About Celebrating Grace:

Celebrating Grace, Inc., is a not-for-profit company dedicated to providing innovative and distinctive worship and church music resources. Beginning in 2007 as a grassroots approach to developing and designing a hymnal, a distinguished team of more than fifty pastors, worship leaders, church music scholars, and laity worked for three years to complete the Celebrating Grace Hymnal, now in its 10th printing. Since the release of the Hymnal, Celebrating Grace has continued to develop creative, faithbased companion products that are receiving high marks from pastors, music directors, children’s choir leaders, and church members. Jesus Is Risen

Here is an up-tempo, multigenerational piece that would serve as a delightful call to worship on Easter or any Sunday during Eastertide. Children (or Treble Choir) introduce the piece singing the happy first eight measures before the SATB joins. In the middle of the piece is a stanza of “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today” (Lyra Davidica) that includes optional congregation. Here is a well-crafted, accessible piece for Holy Week or Maundy Thursday performances. The text is powerful and the music colorful, both conveying the anguish, weight, and resolve Jesus experienced in Gethsemane. A cello line paints the darkness and burden of that night. But amid abandonment and loneliness, Jesus found strength through prayer to be faithful and say, “Father, Thy will be done.” Cello part included. 810038

Perfectly pairing a relatively new Jan McGuire Palm Sunday hymn with the familiar FOREST GREEN tune, this setting by Keith Christopher would make a joyous processional for Palm Sunday. The accessible SATB writing is punctuated with children’s “hosannas.” Children sing part of the 2nd stanza alone, and all forces combine on the last stanza, building to a triumphant, multigenerational close. Psalm 23 is one of the Bible’s iconic hymns of praise to God who sustains us in all of life. Interestingly, David Bolin’s setting delivers the psalm from the perspective of the Good Shepherd.
