found sailing on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene, or maybe it found me. I was 22 years old, a Wisconsin farm boy who’d just been put in charge of the North Idaho College beach. Looking at our little fleet of rental boats, I felt like I’d been handed a thrilling empire, but one I knew nothing about.
