GAME DEFINITIONS & OTHER KEY INFORMATION

Blind Partners

Players play their own ball. Players will find out who their partner is at the end of the round. Scoring will take the better score of the pair for each hole. Lowest score wins. The Golf Shop will make teams.

Five Blind Holes

Players play their own ball. Players will find out at the end of the round which 5 holes will be contributed to the score. Lowest score wins.

Flag Day

Each player will receive a flag at the beginning of the round with their name on it. Everyone plays their own ball using their handicap. The handicap will be added to Par (72). Once you have reached this amount, you will place your flag where your ball has finished. For example, Tiger Woods is a 12 handicap, adding 72+12, his total amount of shots will be 84. Once he hits his 84th shot, he will place his flag where

his 84th shot came to rest. If you have “extra shots” after you have played 18 holes, you will continue on the 1st hole until you have reached your limit.

Individual Stroke Play

Each player will play their own ball for an individual score based off handicap.

Net Pars & Birdies

Players will play their own ball. There will be a winner for who makes the most Net Pars & Net Birdies.

Par 3 Challenge

Nine holes will be set up as a Par 3 ranging from 90-140 yards. Tees will be set up in the fairway unless the hole is naturally a Par 3. Example, on the front 9 of Dogwood, Holes 1 and 2 will have tee markers in the fairway, making it a Par 3. Hole #3, the tees will be normal since it’s a Par 3. Handicap will be less than 100%.

Putts Only

Players play their own ball. However, the total amount of putts on each hole is your score. If the ball is not on the green, it does not count as a putt. If any part of the golf ball touches the green, it is considered to be on the green.

Scramble

(2, 3 or 4 person, depending on how many players)

Each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected, and all players play their second shot from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed out. The scramble score will be recorded as a gross score.

Step Aside Scramble

All players hit their tee shots. Based on length, lie, etc., one best ball is chosen to be played and the person whose ball is chosen must “step aside” and is not allowed to hit the next shot. The other playing partners hit from that spot. This

greenside bunker. Next shot, he hits it to 4 feet from the hole. His recorded “Tee to Green” score is 3.

Texas Scramble

After teeing off, players select the best drive and then play their own ball until the ball is holed. The best score will count as the Team’s Score.

Three Clubs and a Putter

Each player will choose 3 clubs and a putter before the play. These will be the only clubs you can use for the 9 holes.

Three, Two, One (3-2-1)

Team event –

One best ball of the Team on par 5’s, two best balls of the Team on par 4’s and three best balls of the Team on par 3’s.

Throw out 3 Worst Holes

Players will play their own ball. The Golf Shop will throw out the 3 worst net score holes in relation to par.

Two Best (Better) Balls (Net)

Players will play their own ball. The two best net scores will count for the team. The Golf Shop will make the teams.

Two Mulligans (or One Mulligan)

Each player will receive Two Mulligans for their round. Each player can use them whenever they would like whether it is on a tee shot, iron shot, or putt.

No Alibis

Players may replay a certain number of shots during the round. Usually, the number of replays is three-fourths of a players handicap. When replaying, the golfer must use the second shot, regardless of where it goes. She cannot decide to play her first ball and she cannot replay the same shot twice.

Trouble (also known as “Disaster”)

Trouble is a point game in which your actual scores are not relevant, at least not directly. The goal is to collect the least

number of “trouble points” possible during the round. Points are assigned as follows:

Out of bounds-1, Water hazard-1, Bunker-1, Three putt-1, Leaving ball in the bunker-2 (an additional 2 points if you leave the ball in the bunker again and so on), Hitting from one bunker to another-1, Four putt-3, Whiffed ball-4.

A player can erase all the points accumulated on a given hole by making par.

Mutt & Jeff

The total net score for each player on the par 3 and par 5 holes is recorded. Prizes for low net scores.

Scotch Foursome

Pairs alternate shots from tee to green until the ball is in the hole; one player must drive all the even holes and the other the odd. Use one-half of combined handicaps.

Green vs. White

Team Match Play - Two-player teams are drawn based off (85%) of handicap indexes. Best ball of two from hybrid tees. The front 9 (holes 1-9) is worth 1 point and the overall (18) is worth 1 point. Please record gross scores. Wear team colors.

CCNC LOCAL RULES

All play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and the following Model Local Rules:

• All private lawns, shrubs and flowering trees are considered a No Play Zone and free relief is required within one club length of the nearest point of complete relief not nearer the hole. (Rule 16.1f)

• Provisional ball allowed for a ball that might be in the penalty area on Dogwood #3. (MLR B-3)

• Drop zone as additional relief option from penalty areas on Cardinal #3, #4, #11 and Dogwood #3 and #5 only if ball crossed the edge of the penalty area closer to the hole than the drop zone. (MLR E-1)

• Relief available in the general area for parts of the course significantly damaged by rain and cart traffic. (MLR F-4)

• Relief for immovable obstructions close to the green. Ball and obstruction must both be in an area cut to fairway height or less. (MLR F-5)

• Relief from sod seams. (MLR F-7)

• Relief from tree roots in areas cut to fairway height or less. (MLR F-9)

Tiebreakers will be determined by the USGA recommended method of last 9 holes, last 6 holes, last 3 holes, and the final hole.

GOLF ACADEMY INSTRUCTION

There are two player development programs that are open to all LGA Members, the LGA Spring/Fall Golf Academies and the LGA Clinic Series.

LGA SPRING GOLF ACADEMY

A four-week, progressive program with a general theme (short-game, putting, full swing, etc.) The objective of this program is to create a more consistent and in-depth instruction that allows a player time to take what they have learned each week, apply it in practice, and then build on it during the next session. It is a small group (max of 5) and is designed to be an enjoyable, social atmosphere.

LGA SPRING SHORT GAME ACADEMY SCHEDULE

(includes 4 weeks)

Two Sessions Offered:

Beginning: 1:00 - 2:30 pm

Intermediate: 3:00 - 4:30 pm

Wednesdays

One Session Offered:

Intermediate: 2:00-3:30 pm,

SPRING 2025 LGA CLINIC SERIES

The clinic series is available for those who are not able to commit to the 4-week Academy program, or may just want to focus on specific elements of their game in a shorter duration. Clinics will be held on a weekly basis and on a first come, first served basis. There is no commitment or

requirement up front. You may attend every session or choose which specific sessions you would like to attend. Each session will consist of a single aspect of the game and will not necessarily be held in any particular order in relation to each other. There will be a max of 6 players per 90-minute session. Golf Gensis will be used as the signup medium. (Specific signup and registration information will be provided in the registration email.) The clinic series will start mid to late March (exact dates, times, and schedule are TBD but will be released shortly) and will typically run until June. We usually take a break during the warmer months and then pick back up again in September.

INDIVIDUAL AND PRIVATE GROUP INSTRUCTION

Individual lessons are a great way to augment concepts being introduced in the clinics and academies but can be tailored specifically to each player. Private groups are also an enjoyable and cost-effective way to work on your game, if the clinic or academy options do not fit your needs or schedule. If you are interested in setting up a private group instruction program, please email Joe Steadman, Director of Instruction, at jsteadman@ccofnc.com. Individual lessons can be booked online through the Foretees App or via email.
