up. Involve your legs, joints, back, shoulders and arms, and always get your body to be ready for tennis. We always recommend dynamic stretching at the beginning (is a movement-based type of stretching), and a static stretching at the end (stretching poses that are being held for a period of time).

What Does It Take To Start Playing Tennis As A Beginner?

Guillaume Tonelli, Tennis Director

Here are a few tips on what is essential about starting to play tennis.

1. Choose the right tennis racquet.

There are many racquets to choose from these days and it could be very confusing. Racquets for juniors and beginners usually come strung and are inexpensive. The key is to choose one that matches your body, athleticism, weight, and grip size. The best is to ask the tennis pro or the tennis host, as they will be able to guide you very easily. It is an investment as a good pair of skis, you can get the racquet re-strung and keep adjusting to make your game better.

2. Practice

Tennis is a very fun game, but as everything, it requires consistency. That means you can play well one week, and the next could be discouraging. Don’t get down on yourself, this is very normal and it will improve as your practice becomes more consistent.

3. Take some lessons

It could be intimidating to take tennis lessons, but that is the perfect way to not develop bad habits and start with the right technique. It is very easy to get started and hit the ball back and forth, but you will stagnate pretty fast without the right methods. Do some research and find the right tennis professional that will make it fun for you, will improve your game, and will motivate you.

4. Warm up and cool down

Warming up is especially important. Most injuries come from jumping on the court and chasing a ball without a proper warm tennisnorthstar@gmail.com
