Welcome Message from ivgid's general manager

Welcome to our spring edition of IVGID Magazine. Inside you will find information about IVGID and the wealth of programming available for you to recreate and enjoy Lake Tahoe’s natural beauty along with many of the IVGID recreational and cultural assets.
I was appointed the IVGID General Manager following a 30-year career
in local government management, specifically as a city manager or city administrator. My public service experience was in municipalities in the states of Washington, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Educationally, I have a master’s in public administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a bachelor’s in arts from Marquette University.
There are critical values that I hope to bring to the team of employees here at IVGID. This includes providing excellent customer service to those who live here and enjoy recreating at IVGID amenities. We will also be focused on providing value for our residents who pay the fees and taxes that fund District operations and along with significant capital investment in facilities and venues. You are encouraged to participate in the district’s 2025/26 budget process through attendance at meetings or emailing the District Trustees.
I appreciate the active support received from the Board of Trustees, employees, and many of you whom I have met as I have visited the District facilities. We have a special place here at Incline Village, and I’m committed to helping maintain that status, through effective leadership, sound fiscal management, bringing efficiencies to District operations, and by building an excellent organizational culture.
I hope you take advantage of many of the amazing programs and facilities we have highlighted in this edition of IVGID Magazine. Have a great spring and I hope to see you around the Village and at many of our community events.
Best wishes,
RobertHarrison
Robert Harrison, IVGID General Manager

new YOURTAHOEPLACE.COM WEBSITE
The Incline Village General Improvement District recently upgraded our website platform to bring better functionality, modern design, increased security and accessibility to our website users. In redesigning the YourTahoePlace.com site architecture, we asked our website development teamthe Reno-based marketing and web development agency KPS3 - to look at our content with fresh eyes, with the goal of creating a user experience that works well for our local residents first and foremost, and also highlights the incredible services and amenities IVGID provides to all who visit our local community.
Notable changes - The consolidation of IVGID’s governmental affairs and administrative functions under the “About IVGID” menu item in the website navigation. We’ve also created a new “Residents” menu item to host most of the information that’s only relevant to those who live and/or own property here in town including water, sewer and trash service information, IVGID Passes and Punch Cards details, and resources for sustainable living in the community.
In addition to this content restructuring, the new website includes additional design elements that help us consolidate information better. The new website should also look and work better on mobile devices, which make up over 50% of the traffic to our website in this day and age. Feature wise, the site search functionality has been upgraded. Now, if
you’re looking for a specific topic on the website, you can click the search magnifying glass icon (in the upper right) to search both web pages on the site, and/or documents uploaded to the site (e.g. PDFs that might include that search term). This functionality was requested by many of our community members, and we’re excited to roll it out.
CivicPlus Portal for Board Meeting Materials
Another big change website users will notice is the transition of all of our Board of Trustees meeting agendas and packets to their own dedicated online CivicPlus portal. You can dive directly into the CivicPlus portal at https://ivgid.portal. civicclerk.com/, or access it through the Meetings & Agendas page on the YourTahoePlace.com website. Either way, the CivicPlus portal is the new Board of Trustees’ meeting materials repository, and it comes with a slate of great tools that help make meeting materials more accessible to the community. Click into any meeting to find agenda and packet materials (including links to individual items and approved meeting minutes from prior meetings). Click into meetings to find the video recording of the meeting (including links to the specific portion of the video where each item/topic was discussed). Looking to subscribe to updates about Board of Trustees meetings and/or specific committee meetings? Create an account by clicking the “Sign In” button in the top right corner, then look for the “Subscriptions” button to manage the email notifications you’d like to receive.
Give us your feedback
The process of upgrading and maintaining our District website is ongoing, and we would love to hear your feedback on the new YourTahoePlace.com website! We realize that a lot of content has moved around based on the new site structure, so we encourage everyone to use the search button if you can’t find something on the new website. We will continue to make tweaks and upgrades based on user feedback and usage patterns we see over time. So feel free to send an email to marketing@ivgid.org with any comments or questions you may have.
Sincerely,
PaulRaymore

MEET A TRAINER
Sydney Hannig
How long have you been a personal trainer? I’ve been passionate about fitness for years, helping others in the gym long before I officially became a personal trainer. Growing up in Colorado, I was always active—snowboarding, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. When I started strength training, I became fascinated by how every body moves and grows differently, which led me to where I am today.
What do you enjoy about being a personal trainer? The best part of my job is watching people surprise themselves— whether it’s hitting a new milestone, feeling stronger on the mountain, or simply enjoying the challenge. I love pushing people past the limits they thought they had and helping them see their true potential. Fitness is an endless cycle of learning—there are always new exercises, techniques, and ways to improve. I enjoy not only teaching my clients but also continuing to expand my own knowledge.
Do you have a fitness mantra? Gaining progress all starts with showing up. All progress follows after that. Every day you show up, you’re one step closer to building the health and confidence you’re working toward. It’s about putting in the work and trusting progress will come. Showing up is the hardest part, and once you do, everything else falls into place.
Describe your personal training style. My training style is focused on strength training, weightlifting, joint mobility, and seasonal preparation. From snowboarding in the winter to golfing and wake surfing in the summer, I’m always moving—and I want to help Incline Village residents do the same. This is a busy, active town, and I want to make sure my clients are strong, mobile, and ready for whatever adventure comes next. I wouldn’t put anyone through something I haven’t done myself, so you can trust that I know what it takes to stay strong and prepared for the activities we love here.
What suggestions can you provide to help people stay motivated? The best way to stay motivated is to connect your training to something you love. Fitness isn’t just about lifting weights and doing the same routine over and over again—it’s about making every day on the mountain, the trail, or the water feel even better. Set goals that excite you, find a routine that works for your lifestyle, and remember that every small step forward is progress.

Golf Course Conditions

Throughout the winter, golf course maintenance staff monitors the golf courses for snow depths, potential ice formation, damage to the courses, etc. We always hope that the first heavy snow will be cold and dry so a good insulation blanket forms over the turf. Unfortunately, as in many recent years, the first snows this winter were a very wet mixture of rain and snow. As a result we ended up with ice layers of varying thickness on some greens and fairways on the Championship Course. Ice encasement will eventually

cause suffocation and death of most turf species if left for an extended period of time. We removed the snow from the greens to get to the ice layers in January and spread black sand to help melt the ice. Due to the location of many greens, the extensive tree cover, and the angle of the sun during the winter, several greens don’t see much sun at all during this time. Despite these challenges, we feel we’ve been able to address most greens in a timely manner to minimize damage. The Mountain Course has kept a good snowpack all winter, and signs of ice on those greens is very minimal. As we get closer to spring, we will start removing snow from greens and tees, and cleaning up all the debris that litters the courses throughout the winter. Spreading of black mulch and sand will help melt the snow, and before we know it we will be mowing and grooming the turf in preparation for the golf season. We look forward to seeing everyone out on the courses!

Both these brands are making huge headway back into the golf apparel industry. The Championship Golf Shop is our flagship store and will always have the most current styles of both apparel and shoes, along with embroidered hats and accessories. The Mountain Course Golf Shop is where you will find our apparel and shoes at sale prices. So, if you’re a discerning shopper head on up to the Mountain Course to find some great deals. Lastly, if you’re in the market for new golf clubs we have a limited supply of clubs on hand from major brands such as Titleist, Ping (including the new G440 Driver), Cobra and XXIO. If you don’t find the exact customization you are looking for from the clubs on hand, we will be offering fitting days from these same manufacturers throughout the season.

Home Hardening: Strengthening Your Home Against Embers
Wind-driven embers can travel miles ahead of wildfire, igniting homes long before flames reach the area. Consider your home vulnerability and review the Wildfire Home Retrofit Guide for recommendations on how to retrofit exiting components of a home to withstand wildfire.
Home hardening reduces this risk by reinforcing your home with fire-resistant materials:
Roofing & Gutters: Use Class A fire-rated roofing materials and keep gutters clear of leaves and debris.
Vents & Eaves: Install ember-resistant vents and screen all openings with 1/8-inch metal mesh.
Windows & Doors: Upgrade to dual-pane tempered glass windows, which withstand heat better than single-pane glass.
Decks & Siding: Use noncombustible or fire-resistant siding materials and keep decks free of flammable items.
Fire Adapted Communities: Become a Tahoe Network Neighborhood Leader
The Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities (TNFAC) is a program designed to help residents and visitors prepare for wildfire. This multi-agency and community collaboration helps residents take individual action to help collectively reduce their neighborhood’s risk from wildfire.
A fire Adapted Community is a knowledgeable and engaged community working together to prepare for wildfire. Oftentimes a neighborhood leader serves as the point of contact in the neighborhood, educates neighbors, and empowers the neighborhood to prepare for wildfire.
The Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team
Reducing wildfire risk requires a collective effort. The Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team (TFFT)—a coalition of local, state, and federal agencies—works to protect lives, property, and the environment within the Lake Tahoe Basin. Through strategic fuels reduction projects and community engagement, TFFT is dedicated to reducing wildfire risk basin wide. Since the 2007 Angora Fire, the TFFT has treated more than 75,000 acres for fuel reduction and completed more than 70,000 defensible space inspections on private properties. To get a better understanding of how Lake Tahoe Basin projects are prioritized, please review the Lake Tahoe Basin Forest Action Plan and the Tahoe Basin Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).
Make sure you are registered for emergency alert notifications. Stay informed, make a plan, and assemble a kit or go-bag. Being prepared ahead of time in the event of an emergency makes all the difference during these types of situations.
LARGE WOOD DEBRIS DISPOSAL
North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District (NLTFPD) offers free chipping for residents with larger wood materials (dead trees, branches, limbs under 6” diameter). Visit www.nltfpd.net to request chipping service.
Take the necessary steps to create and maintain defensible space around your home.
Visit TahoeLivingWithFire.com to learn more about defensible space and how to become a Fire-Adapted Community.
