This summer the Incline Village Library is an “Ocean of Possibilities” as we celebrate this year’s Summer Reading Program theme. Join us for engaging programs for all ages and visit the remodeled and unique children’s area featuring a galis dungal - a traditional Washoe winter shelter. Or, discover your next great read through the Biggest Little Book Box, one of the library’s many free services.

The library’s event calendar is teeming with fun and free educational programs. Children can learn a new skill through handson programs like Summer Sewing Camp, LEGO Robotics, or Weird Science Wednesday. The whole crew is welcome at our Summer Reading Program events like Dive Deep with the U.S. Coast Guard and Freshwater Fun with the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

Sail into the Norman Rosenberg Young People’s Library to explore the galis dungal and newly installed mural with scenes of Cave Rock and the Carson Range. Can you spy images from Washoe stories as well as local plants and animals? The library’s welcoming space has room to read, study, or work, whether you’re solo or with your mates. a short form with your interests and a librarian will select two fresh reads delivered in a personalized box. Didn’t land at the library during our open hours? Fish a book from Library To Go, the lending kiosk that makes reading available for all ages 24/7.

Baby Story Time Every Tuesday at 11:30 am. Best for children 0-18 months

Toddler Story Time Every Thursday at 11:30 am. Best for children 18 months – 3 years

Paws 2 Read Every 2nd Thursday at 4 pm. Come read to a friendly dog and get a free book!

Family Movie Night Every 2nd Friday at 6pm. Enjoy a family friendly movie and free popcorn!

Upcoming events:

Tuesday, July 12 & Wednesday, July 13

Summer Knitting Camp from noon – 2 pm. Come learn the basics of knitting and create a project. Best for ages 11 – 18.

Monday, July 18 & Tuesday, July 19

Summer LEGO Robotics Camp from 1-3 pm. Best for ages 10-16. Tuesday, July 26 Deep Dive with the United States Coast Guard, Lake Tahoe at 5:30 pm. This is an informative event to learn about the Coast Guard and their mission at Lake Tahoe.

Wednesday, July 27 Ancient Seas of Nevada with the Keck Museum at 3 pm. An introduction to the ancient fauna and flora of our deserts.

Thursday, July 28 Capt'n Jack Spareribs' show...The World's Worst Pirate at 4 pm. A fast-paced mix of swashbuckling, rib tickling, pirate mayhem combined with magic, ventriloquism and the world's worst pirate jokes.

Tuesday, August 9; Wednesday, August 10; Thursday, August 11

Summer Sewing Camp from 2-4 pm. Lean the basics of textiles, pattern cutting, and sewing with machines and by hand. Best for ages 10-11 with accompanying adult; 12 and up without accompanying adult.
