BANKSY’S BULLETIN This week we face the Champions. We also have three big ins for this week. They are Fab,Posco and the return of Roy after eight weeks out. Now I am going to be talking about the impact that Roy has on me and all of his team mates since Roy has been in the A-League. Roy’s one of those kind of guys who is trying to always get the best out of himself and everyone and Roy always pumps everyone up no matter what the mood is like. I have actually had the chance to sit down with Roy and really get to know him. Stay calm and support us because we need all your support so that we can make the best possible finish to a difficult season. In the words of Roy.

HYUNDAI GIVEAWAY
The Central Coast Mariners have teamed up with Booth’s Motor Group to giveaway A BRAND NEW Hyundai Accent to one lucky spectator who attends a Hyundai A-League match at Central Coast Stadium during the season! Booth’s Motor Group, located at both Tuggerah & Gosford are a proud partner of the Central Coast Mariners and have kindly put a car on offer, to be won by the lucky person who is randomly drawn at our last Hyundai A-League home match against the Newcastle Jets. Mariners’ fans must hang onto their ticket and simply visit one of the Booth’s dealerships the following week with their match day ticket to go into the draw. The more matches you attend, the more chances you have to win! Central Coast Mariners Members have even more of a reason to be excited about this season long competition, as they have the opportunity to DOUBLE their chances! A scan of your membership card on arrival activates an automatic entry and if you visit a Booth’s Dealership during the week, you can submit your second entry for that round. Head to ccmariners.com.au for more info
Coming off our Derby Day disappointment, we face the Champions Melbourne Victory in what is sure to be a tough game for our lads. Losing at home to the Jets for the first time in 8 years really hurt us, but bouncing back in style against the Victory is what we need to finish the season on a high and try to get away from the wooden spoon. If you feel like having a sing, come along to Bay 16 and cheer on the boys because they need us now more than ever. #COYY

WELCOME BACK ROY O’DONOVAN
After an eight-week hiatus, we caught up with our Irish striker Roy O’Donovan to chat about the excitement of his return to football. Despite not having played a competitive match since New Year’s Eve, Roy has been one of the busiest players in the squad getting out and about in the community and has said a huge thank you to the Members and fans for their support during this tough time. CCM: How excited are you to get back onto the park? RO: I’m excited, really looking forward to the game. It’s a terrific game to come back for because we’ve got the Champions at home and it can’t come soon enough for me. CCM: How supportive have the players and coaching staff been over the past 8 weeks? RO: Everybody to do with the Central Coast Mariners has been nothing but supportive and that’s from the top down: the likes of the CEO, the owner and Tony right down to the players who have been terrific. But I must say the people who have been affected most
10
ccmariners.com.au
are the supporters and my team mates. They’ve been nothing short of first class, everybody has been totally on my side. I want to repay them all in the last six games of the season and hopefully that starts today against Melbourne Victory. CCM: Has it been hard to find motivation at training over the past 8 weeks? RO: No not really, the beauty of being a professional sportsman is that you can get over things quickly whether it’s an injury, loss or suspension you just need to move onto the next challenge so in my head it’s been about getting back onto the pitch and focussing on the games I’ve got left to play. It’s definitely been
frustrating but it’s all behind me now so I’m ready to go. I’m ready to go, match fitness and training fitness are two completely different things but I’ve kept myself in good knick but I think more importantly than anything I’m mentally prepared. I’m expecting there will be people out there trying to test my character but it’s a great game to come back for and there will be an extra 10% in my locker to prove a point before the end of the season. CCM: How important is it for you to repay the faith to Mariners fans?
for me. I was glad to do any little bit I could to help the community but I think I got more from the experience than the people I was there to help out, I really enjoyed it.
CCM: Yourself and your partner Ellen have a little baby on the way, how exciting is that?
RO: I genuinely mean this. The fans have been absolutely terrific; I have had to sit with them for the last eight weeks and the fans more than anybody have been hurt this season. Then with the likes of myself missing games and Storm getting injured it feels like more bad news after the next so hopefully for our last six games we can reward the fans who have stuck by us with some results and finish the season with pride which is very important. As a Club we have learnt a lot of harsh lessons this year and I’m sure we can turn those into positives. CCM: You’ve spent plenty of time out and about in the community, how have you found that experience? RO: Every cloud has a silver lining and I’ve had the opportunity to meet people that I wouldn’t of been able to if I was playing so it has been a pleasure
RO: We’re very excited! I’m getting back on the pitch, I’ve got a little baby boy due in the next couple of weeks so it’s very exciting times. It’s all apart of our Australian adventure, a huge moment in both of our lives. She’s ready to go any minute and I’m ready with the bags packed.

MARINERS PLAYER TO PRAISE
MICHAEL NEILL The Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season has been a breakout period for young Mickey Neill who has delivered multiple man of the match performances in multiple positions. The 21-year-old has climbed the ranks at the Mariners as a wide defender but Walmsley decided to deploy Neill in the centre of midfield alongside Nick Montgomery and Liam Rose in our New Year’s Eve match where we scored his maiden A-League goal. Since then, Neill’s engine and impressive performances have seen him perform as a mainstay in the midfield until last weekend against the Newcastle Jets. With a raft of players missing, Neill stepped up despite being shifted to left back put in another incredible performance as an invaluable versatile asset of the Central Coast Mariners. Regardless of position on the park, we are looking for another huge performance from Neill who will be key to shutting down the attacking weapons of Finkler, Barbarouses, Thompson and Berisha. The Sutherland Sharks junior has become a fan favourite on the Coast for his willingness to overcome a number of injuries during his time in Yellow & Navy.

VICTORY PLAYER TO PRESSURE
GUI FINKLER When the chips are down for Melbourne Victory there’s a number of key attacking options they can turn to, but one man that has stepped up time and time again to break the hearts of Central Coast Mariners supporters is Gui Finkler. The Brazilian attacker has been in fine form this season, dispatching a number of impressive goals that sees him sitting on a tally of four for the season. Dangerous with the dead ball, Finkler has the ability to strike from distance which will have the Mariners’ defensive wall on their toes if the opportunity for a set piece arises. There’s no doubt that the 30-year-old will be filled with motivation for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League season having not been selected in Kevin Muscat’s AFC Champions League squad who are set with the task of taking on Asia’s best. Finkler missed the squad’s midweek trip to Japan to face Gamba Osaka and will be extra fired up (and fresh) this afternoon against the Central Coast Mariners. Jacob Poscoliero will make his way back into the side this weekend after returning from suspension and will be key to shutting down the effectiveness SEASON TEAM APP GLS of Finkler at Central Coast Stadium, 2005
