The Central Coast Mariners are proud to be working with Coastal Twist LGBTIQ Festival for this round’s pride celebrations.
The organisation is working towards an equitable society, one in which all can participate and prosper and are allowed to reach our full potential as we continue to live, work and play on the Coast.
The Mariners are bringing this to life at our matches at Industree Group Stadium in collaboration with the Coasts own Coastal Twist LGBTIQ Festival.
Festival Director Glitta Supernova is pleased to be supporting the Mariners this World Pride celebration, for broader positive change and community education to occur.
“This is an amazing opportunity for visibility and inclusion with our local home team which sends a really beautiful message to the broader local and national community,” she said.
“Australian Sport wants everyone to matter, everyone to be included, everyone to feel safe when they want to support their team.”
The round is super important not only for our community but for the Central Coast which is very quickly changing into an
equitable and more welcoming place. It’s the initial steps of working towards safe spaces for all Mariners fans.
“This is about authentic and ongoing visible inclusion, about communities collaborating, there is a place in sport for everyone. It’s about ensuring players and fans understand Mariners care about providing a safe, fun and inclusive environment for all people, including those of diverse sexualities and genders,” she said.
“Football has historically been considered hostile and unwelcoming to young people with diverse sexualities and genders. Over 80% of people have either witnessed or experienced homophobia in sport.
“LGBTIQ communities are here as spectators and players. Until now 87% of gay males and 75% of lesbians have been completely or partially in the closet while playing youth sports - this is all changing, and the Central Coast can be at the front of this positive change.”
Keep an eye out for special events at tonight’s match and be sure to show your support!
The Central Coast Mariners are back in the E-League for the 2023 season, ready to take on the rest of the A-League clubs for glory!
The competition has expanded this season, extending to a 10-week format with a $10,000 prize pool up for grabs.
The Mariners have brought back last year’s Pro Brady Carr to fight for gold again, with our second pro selected through our tournament that took place this week.
The group stage of the tournament kicks off on March 7th, with these matches to take place over the following six weeks.
From then, the play-offs will be held online, with players hunting for a spot in the final stages.
These will take place in-stadia this season, being a component of the A-Leagues grand final weekend to take place in Sydney.
The top three scoring players from the tournament will also receive a direct invite to the FIFA Global Series Oceania Play-In, where they will compete for a chance to qualify for the Global Series Playoffs.
The Central Coast Mariners’ first pro for 2023 is Brady Carr. The youngster won the Mariners selection tournament last season, defeating many other aspiring E-Sports
professionals to win his contract.
Carr has been re-signed for the 2023 season, after a positive first campaign and some impressive results outside of the E-League competition.
Carr has been ranked among Australia’s top 20 FIFA players for multiple years, taking on and defeating some of the countries very best players.
A regular star in the weekend league scene, Carr has also secured numerous perfect competitions.
Keep an eye out on our website and socials over the next few weeks for regular updates on our E-League Pros as they take on the competition, looking to secure the title!
Watching the game for as long as I have there are players you see play and have to double check when you hear their age. Nectarios Triantis is 19! I know right! It’s cliché but if ever there was an example of an old head on young shoulders look no further than the Central Coast Mariners number 25.
Composure is a word that we love to hear when talking about any defensive player and Nectarios has this attribute in spades. Technically gifted, not only can he play a great pass out from the back, but Nectarios has great vision and the ability to find his man well into attacking territory. I spoke before of this young man’s age but the maturity in which he plays his football is light years ahead of the numbers on his birth certificate. Strong and athletic, Nectarios has certainly staked his claim for one of the centre back roles along side Dan Hall and Brian Kaltak giving the gaffer Monty a nice headache to have each week.
I know viewers of “The MartyMariner Show” on Youtube (yes shamless plug) see all the time ex-players and guests speak of the quality of youth we have at the club and that Monty is the perfect coach for such a squad list. Nectarios, who is on a 3 year deal with the club, is a perfect example of this future based outlook that the club continues to lead the way quite successfully with amongst other clubs
in the A League. Don’t be fooled though thinking it’s only in the future that these young stars will shine as these young guns are getting it down right now! An outstanding talent, consistently performing well each week and of course also is the mighty Kariong FC’s club ambassador…..I mean talk about being a
The Central Coast Mariners Academy seasons are beginning to get underway, with our NPL Men’s sides playing three games to date.
The youth boys began their season against Sydney Olympic on the weekend, taking on Sydney United this Saturday at Pluim Park for round two.
The first-grade side currently sit in 13th position, having recorded two draws from their three games so far. The under 20’s are eighth, winning two of their three matches including scoring a late winner against Sutherland last weekend.
The two teams face off against Blacktown City tomorrow at Pluim Park, with the under 20’s beginning at 3pm, while first grade kicks off at 5pm.
Our women’s League One side begin their campaign away to St George on Saturday March 12th, with an exciting squad assembled. The youth sides also kick off against St George on the same day.
“My daughter has improved her football skills, developed a deeper understanding of the game and she and I are even closer than we were 9 weeks ago!”
- This was the glowing review given by a dad who attended the Daughters and Dads Football program last year
Daughters and Dads Football was developed based on the University of Newcastle’s multi-award-winning Daughters and Dads Active and Empowered program. High quality research has shown the program significantly improves father-daughter relationships, daughters’ and dads’ physical activity levels, as well as girls’ sport skills and social-emotional wellbeing.
Daughters and Dads Football utilises football as the vehicle to drive these positive changes in the lives of primaryaged girls and their dads/father figures. Dr. Lee Ashton from the University of Newcastle says, “Dads offer that safe, supportive introduction to the sport for their daughters as one-on-one coaches. That’s why we see huge improvements in their skills.”
This fantastic program caters for all ability levels from those who’ve never played football to those who want to
extend their skills.
Daughters and Dads Football is being rolled out across NSW. Sign up today to increase your daughter’s persistence, resilience and bravery; deepen the bond between your daughter and her dad/father-figure; and boost her football skills.
It takes a huge team effort on match days, and our home games wouldn’t happen without our dedicated team of volunteers working hard behind the scenes.
Central Coast Mariners would like to acknowledge the contribution of our wonderful team of volunteers and thank them for their valuable contribution to the club.
Thank you to each of our volunteers, from all of us at the Central Coast Mariners.
Hello Fellow Football families, We recently returned from a holiday in the Cook Islands and being Football Tragics we were able to find some local games to watch.
At the conclusion of the first game we watched, U/15 boys, we noticed that when they came off the field they were removing their boots and shinpads to pass onto the next team to take the field, the U/15 girls. Then again when the girls came off the field after their game they removed their already twice worn boots and shinpads and passed them to the next team to take the field, the U/17 boys! This was sad to witness and totally unexpected.
We then had a chat to one of the referees about this situation and said that we would like to find some way to help out here. She recommended who we should contact due to there being some issues with the Official Association. After making contact we had a visit from the Sports Manager from the Cook Islands Sports & National Olympic Committee (CISNOC).
We made the decision to see if we could obtain pre loved, reasonable condition, football boots and shin pads to send back to The Cook Islands for distribution to those families/players who could not afford to purchase their own gear.
This is where our Fellow Football Families can help us.
We will be collecting pre loved boots and shin pads for the next few months with our aim to get them to the Cook Islands in time for their 2023/2024 season.
If you feel that this is something that your organisation can help us with we would be happy to chat further regarding collection options.
Yours in Football
