We have offered our members exceptional opportunities to network and engage through a coordinated national program of over 100 business and networking events. The launch of our new Industry Committees, focusing on six key sectors: Aviation, Aerospace & Defence, Mining, Oil & Gas, Retail & Luxury, New Technologies and Transport, Infrastructure & Power, reinforces our commitment to providing an ecosystem of information sharing and industry-insights though high-quality, sectorspecific events with practical takeaways. An improved national structure has facilitated increased visibility whilst retaining the all-important local expertise. Taking place in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide for the first time, the 2017 Schneider Electric Innovation Hub Business Forum showcased this to the full. By combining national partnerships and key industry experts with local knowledge, our annual forum maximised successful networking opportunities and cross-pollination of ideas across industries. FACCI’s increasingly close connection with state and federal government has enabled us to provide a strong platform for advocacy. We are proud to have provided a strong voice for our members on important issues including the 457 visa changes, representing French-Australian business interests at the highest level. As a key member of ‘Team-France’ in Australia, FACCI continues to foster the robust bilateral relationship, collaborating with the CCI France International network and maintaining a strong presence within major Australian business networks, including the CEO Forum, Australian Business Council and the European Australian Business Council. Throughout the year, our members have been able to engage with decision-makers and officials from both the French and Australian governments, including Jay Weatherill, Premier of South Australia, The Hon Gladys Berejiklian, Premier of New South Wales, Senator The Hon Arthur Sinodinos AO, Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, the MEDEF international delegation, as well as H.E Christophe Penot Ambassador of France to Australia, H.E Brendan Berne, Ambassador of Australia to France and H.E Pascal Maubert, Ambassador of France to Papua New Guinea. The year ahead will see a continued effort to exceed members’ expectations, deliver on strategic goals, and focus on promoting the French-Australian business community as leaders in innovation and excellence. Finally, I would like to thank our Board of Directors and State Councillors for their commitment and passion to the Chamber, and above all, our members for their ongoing support and participation.

2017 HIGHLIGHTS

Africa Down Under Conference

International Women’s Day

and financing of mining projects. Africa is undoubtedly the greatest treasure in the world and must be explored exhaustively using modern techniques.

The Africa Down Under conference was created to raise awareness among Australian oil companies about the resources and mines in Africa. For 15 years, the conference has been the biggest overseas mining event in Africa. In order to understand the complexity of African mining issues, the ADU program organizes in-depth discussions involving field experts in security, infrastructure

The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FACCI), held a "French-Speaking Africa" Pavilion at the ADU conference, in order to showcase the fantastic investment potential - in terms of raw materials in Frenchspeaking African countries. FACCI was proud to host the following companies: ARETHUSE, TECHNIDRILL, DASSAULT SYSTEMES and LASSARAT. Additionally, the booth served as promotion of French companies wishing to highlight their presence in French-speaking Africa with the view to sell their services or to partner with Australian companies expecting to develop their business in those countries. More than 200 Australian companies are already established in Africa, but

March 2017 - Melbourne only 30% of them are present in Frenchspeaking countries. FACCI, with its extensive knowledge of the field, offers legislative, linguistic and commercial assistance to Australian companies wishing to settle in French-speaking Africa. A better understanding of French influence on African culture and history can only strengthen the commercial developments of Australian industries. FACCI also identified the established French companies’ reciprocal needs. They have every interest in working with Australian mining companies, whose advice, services and expertise benefit their business. It is certain that the experience and specific knowledge of a country is irreplaceable. Through a range of events, FACCI acts as a platform to facilitate the commercial relationship between French-speaking Africa, Australia and France.

FACCI and the Victorian State Government welcomed the MEDEF delegation

FACCI and the business chambers and councils of International Chamber House were delighted to present our annual International Women’s Day Forum and High Tea. The theme for this year’s event was ‘Journeys to Success’. An in-depth panel discussion allowed guests to learn about our four outstanding panellists and how they have reached senior roles in vastly different organisations. Panellists also shared their advice regarding the promotion of diversity and how this stands to bring about broader benefits.

Economic Outlook Briefing with Paul Bloxham February, March 2017 - Brisbane, Melbourne & Sydney while China's demand for Australia's high-quality resources has been a key part of the story, more recently the relationship has broadened to exports of tourism, education and other services.

March 2017 - Melbourne

Justin Hanney, Lead Deputy Secretary Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources officially welcomed the delegation. The State government then presented Victoria’s priority industries and sectors that will drive Victoria's economic growth and jobs.

Victoria’s Public Private Partnerships and project pipeline was presented, followed by discussion of Free Trade Agreements, including: FTA Australia/Europe and FTA Australia-Asia as a platform towards Asia. The Melbourne Metro Rail project was also presented and discussed.

As China's economy shifts, Australia is adjusting to changing demands. As always, with opportunities come risks. And local policymakers and businesses need to manage them both.

Defence companies to discuss potential collaboration. Among the Victorian companies, were represented the Victorian Defence Alliance, Sentient Vision Systems, Tectonica, AOS group, Cablex, Trakka Systems and Flight Data Systems.

Paul Bloxham, HSBC Chief Economist for Australia & New Zealand

FACCI was proud to welcome Paul Bloxham, Chief Economist at HSBC Australia & New Zealand for a series of Economic Business Outlook Briefings. This popular annual roadshow took place at the premises of local partner, Clayton Utz in Brisbane, at International Chamber House in Melbourne and at HSBC in Sydney.

Paul gave an insightful presentation on how to manage the opportunities and risks associated with Australia’s broadening links to China. His speech addressed how strong links to China have underpinned Australia's economic growth in recent years.

The presentation was followed by a a Q&A and a dedicated networking session for all participants.

2017 Schneider Electric Innovation Hub Business Forum May, June 2017 - Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide

We were delighted to welcome our two guest speakers, Craig Bradley and Lynton Mayne, who shared their insights into the Oil, Gas, Mining and Defence industries. Craig Bradley, Principal Consultant at Dassault Systèmes introduced us to Dassault Systèmes' latest innovation:

FACCI hosted the third edition of the Schneider Electric Innovation Hub Business Forum in Sydney and for the first time, in Adelaide and Melbourne this year. The 2017 Schneider Electric Innovation Hub Business Forum, and our previous business forums to date, form part of a joint initiative by Team France and led by FACCI, to collaborate for the mutual benefit of both France and Australia. Team France itself, a combined force consisting of FACCI, the French Embassy, Business France, the Alliance Française and the French Foreign Trade Advisors Group, unites the strengths and abilities of the dynamic French business community that currently exists in Australia and provides a strategic platform from which to consider the place that France will occupy in Australia’s future. encourages this endeavour and supports the fostering of economic development, bilateral investment and trade between our two countries. This business forum represented one of over 100 events hosted annually by the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and gave attendees a real insight into our extensive business network, illustrating the support that the Chamber can offer to French and Australian companies. Two years post-COP21, France leads the way as an internationallyrecognised trailblazer on the issue of sustainability. Whether economic, social or environmental, sustainability represents one of the main challenges that this generation will face. Building a realistic vision for Australia 2030 is a

burning issue for both federal and state governments. How will Australia maintain a competitive edge in existing sectors and build comparative advantages in new and emerging industries? For this reason, the theme of this year's business forum was: “Australia 2030: A role model for a sustainable world”. Energy, transport, building and construction, recycling, repurposing, technology, and financial sustainability are among several key areas that were addressed throughout the course of the day, in a series of panel discussions, Q&A sessions and keynote speeches. Our 2017 Schneider Electric Innovation Hub Business Forum highlighted the potential for French and Australian businesses to become world leaders, finding innovative solutions to global problems.

their 3D Experience Platform. This platform delivers the power and the difference in each application including social and collaborative, information intelligence and virtual reality simulation. Whilst Dassault Systèmes, which has more than 12,000 partners around the world, is well known as one of the leaders in aerospace, defence and government industries, the company is now developing their innovative 3D Experience Platform through the mining industry and fostering new opportunities in this sector.

at Veolia gave us an overview of the company's global presence and its core expertise in Water, Waste and Energy. Lynton highlighted Veolia’s recent industrial and municipal international innovations, as well as focusing on two more local innovative topics. This included the TRH reliability onsite in oily wastewater, looking at a more effective process to measure it and the emerging concerns with PFAS-contaminated groundwater and the reduction technology that has been developed to treat it.

Earlier in the year, we invited a selection of members to join us and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) for an exclusive roundtable with H.E.
