MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
Can you believe we are halfway through 2022? As suspected, the year is stepping up to be the most
‘interesting’ yet, as we continue to dig in off the back of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, and are now facing down the challenges of resource constraints and the pressures heavily impacting our industry.
Our new State Labor Government is making strong inroads (pardon the pun) towards fulfilling its pre-election commitments. Positively, CCF SA is actively engaged with the relevant Government stakeholders to ensure the civil industry thrives so we can deliver the infrastructure needs of South Australia. We are currently working through the following with Government representatives and industry: ф Rise/Fall terms for inclusion in new Department Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) Contracts – assisting industry’s management of material cost escalation ф Bank Guarantee security arrangements and release time frames for early trades engaged on
DIT projects ф Civil Apprenticeship wage subsidy and funding support for Hosts and
Apprentice Employers ф Implementing and making available
Civil Flexible Industry Pathways (FIPs) to South Australian Secondary
Schools ф Skilling and building civil workforce capability and capacity to ensure skilled workers are available to industry to meet infrastructure needs ф Micro-credential release to industry including: • Quick cut • Small Civil Team Leader • Apprentice Supervisor • Tunnelling Support Worker ф Industry led training roll out commencing with our ‘Vac
Truck Operator’ short course ф Civil industry and career promotion to our community is ongoing with over 40 school career events and community programs already completed ф Civil Apprenticeship employment ф Investigating a new activity based ‘verification of competency service’ to industry to support safe workplaces South Australians also had a new

commended. Some budget highlights: ф *$18.6 billion infrastructure commitments over the 4 years from 2022-23 include: • $400 million in partnership with the Commonwealth for the upgrade of Marion Road between Anzac Highway and Cross Road • $120 million in partnership with the Commonwealth to fund an on-off ramp from the Southern Expressway at Majors Road • $125 million to duplicate Main South Road between Seaford and Sellicks Beach • $100 million in partnership with the Commonwealth for road and rail upgrades on the LeFevre Peninsula

• $1 million additional funding to upgrade the O’Sullivan Beach boat ramp • $150 million in partnership with the Commonwealth to upgrade key strategic roads through the hills • $75 million in partnership with the Commonwealth to improve national supply chain roads • $20 million in partnership with the Commonwealth to undertake additional highway upgrades for the
Roads of Strategic Importance • $15 million in additional funding for a $37 million upgrade to port infrastructure at Cape Jervis and Penneshaw
IMPORTANTLY, the budget also includes investment in regional roads and other regional projects, including: • $150 million over 5 years to upgrade key strategic roads through the hills • $75 million for improvements to the Stuart and Eyre Highways • $50 million for continued improvements to the Horrocks
Highway corridor • $20 million for further works on the Princes Highway • $10 million in 2024-25 to upgrade
Main Road, Cherry Gardens as part of the $150 million Adelaide Hills Productivity Package • $500 thousand in 2022-23 to conduct a study into transport issues impacting on
Mount Barker • $20 million to undertake additional highway upgrades for the Roads of
Strategic Importance • $15 million in 2023-24 additional funding for a $37 million upgrade to port infrastructure at
Cape Jervis and Penneshaw
