FABTECH 2012 Heads to Las Vegas CCAI FINISHING Pavilion Now the Largest Finishing Exhibition!
W
ith each passing week, CCAI’s FINISHING Pavilion at FABTECH continues to grow. So much so, that we’ve just FA added exhibit space to the FINISHING Pavilion floor plan. ad S Scheduled h d l d ffor November 12 – 14, 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the FINISHING Pavilion exhibit space was quickly selling out, creating the need for additional space. “In the past few weeks, we’ve had several companies expand their exhibit space,” notes Andy Goyer, CCAI’s Exhibit Manager. “With six months until the show opens, we had very little space left to sell. We have been able to expand and gain an additional 1,300 square feet to the FINISHING Pavilion. That space is already selling quickly as well.” To date, nearly 100 companies have selected space in the FINISHING Pavilion. Many exhibitors have enlarged their booth space over the first two FINISHING Pavilions, allowing for more demonstrations of finishing products and services on the show floor. More than 25,000 visitors are expected to attend FABTECH in Las Vegas. “We look forward to an exciting show,” states Anne Goyer, CCAI Executive Director. “Our FINISHING Pavilion at FABTECH now is the largest finishing related show in North America. We know our exhibitors and members will all benefit from exhibiting in and attending FABTECH this November.

CCAI Offers Quality Programming at FABTECH Conference The FABTECH exhibition is accompanied by an outstanding conference program that will feature 18 two-hour sessions devoted to finishing technologies, including powder coating, liquid coating, electrocoating, porcelain enamel, pretreatment and more. The majority of the finishing conference sessions will feature new presentations that will help finishers produce higher quality products while reducing costs. The complete conference program will be available in June. In addition, there will be a series of free keynote and industry panels that will be of interest to all who attend FABTECH. Watch for details coming soon.
FABTECH 2012 Hotel and Registration CCAI Names Treasure Island as Headquarters Hotel CCAI has designated Treasure Island on the Las Vegas strip as its headquarters hotel. Treasure Island is the closest hotel on the strip to the Las Vegas Convention Center that is part of the official FABTECH hotel block. Please note that the official hotel block is already more than 50% sold out. Shuttle transportation to and from the Las Vegas Convention Center will be available on show days from Treasure Island to the Convention Center and back. Anyone wishing to stay at Treasure Island should book their hotel reservation immediately. Please be aware that there are many unauthorized housing agents attempting to book rooms for FABTECH exhibitors and attendees. Often, the room rate and hotels they promise are not available. FABTECH can only assist you with housing challenges if you book through FABTECH’s official housing provider, Travel Planners. Click on HOTEL & TRAVEL on the FABTECH website for official hotel availability. For those wishing to register for the show now, registration is open with no charge to attend the exhibition. Chapter Happenings WELCOME NEW CHAPTER - IOWA/CENTRAL ILLINOIS!! (formerly Quad Cities)
KUDOS to Tom Boland for all his hard work revitalizing the Iowa/Central Illinois (formerly Quad Cities) chapter. CCAI is very excited to see such a great group of people willing to get the chapter moving again. Their enthusiasm is contagious. Since their organizational meeting in March they’ve had 21 new members join the chapter! The kick-off event, a plant tour of John Deere Harvester Works is SOLD OUT with more than 90 registrants. They are currently working on their golf outing to be held at the end of July. We look forward to hearing about many more great events and participation from the Iowa/Central Illinois chapter.
CENTRAL STATES On April 19, the Central States Chapter of CCAI had 22 attendees at their meeting for the presentation by Dr. Vicki Gelling from North Dakota State University on Corrosion Assessment Control. Her presentation was very good and lasted about 45 minutes but the members had so many questions for her the meeting lasted for two hours. Feedback from attendees was very positive and they felt they learned a great deal that would help them in their businesses in the finishing process. Two of the companies may even have her do some testing for them to see how they can get a better handle in controlling corrosion on their products. The Central States Dr. Vicki Gelling is truly one of the crowd chapter extends their thanks to Dr. here as she joins the Central States chapter Vicki Gelling. for an extended round of questions.
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA The SoCal Chapter had a great 3rd Annual golf tournament at Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona, California. On May 7th, 60 golfers enjoyed a warm day on the greens with a flurry of contests followed by a wonderful mesquite BBQ dinner and a huge raffle. The winners of the tournament (Mike Cravens, Peter Marrugi, Alex Marrugi, Peter Mata) finished with an incredible 10 under score. Alex Arce won the putting contest sponsored by Coral Chemical after a putt off when 2 players sunk the 50 ft. putt. Mike Fisher and Michael Salvino won the closest to the pin contests sponsored by Tiger Drylac Powder. Bobby Kelly, Jacob Medina and Ponce Sisavath won the longest drive contests sponsored by Sundial Powder Coating. While no one won the $25,000 Hole in One contest sponsored by Sundial Powder Coating, Andy Goyer was the closest at 12 feet on a very difficult hole. www.socalccai.com
Congratulations to the winning foursome!
NORTHERN ILLINOIS Peerless Plant Tour The Northern Illinois Chapter of CCAI recently conducted a plant tour at Peerless-AV in Aurora, IL. PeerlessAV is a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of “made-in-the-USA” audiovisual solutions, selling into 28 different vertical markets worldwide. They were recently highlighted in a CBS news story about companies that are successfully bringing their aluminum casting operations back from China. Their overall manufacturing operations also includes (2) complete powder coating lines. The tour was attended by 24 people, most of them members of the Northern Illinois Chapter, including end Steve Jayhan, Director of Manufacturing, users and suppliers. addresses the NI chapter during the plant tour. –8–
