The Sizzling Summer

H

This will be our second year to o sponsor the Finishing Pavilion. I don’t know quite how to explain n how well the show is progressing,, but we are WAY ahead of lastt year with exhibitor participation CCAI National President, and continue to add more every Sherrill Stoenner week. It’s going to be a huge show with something for everyone. You don’t want to miss it – if you’re not exhibiting, you must attend. Register now and be one of the many who have pre-registered to the greatest finishing show you can attend. The pre-registration is far ahead of last year’s, and even two years ago for the Chicago show. FABTECH 2011 is going to be record setting for sure. No matter if you are an attendee or an exhibitor, there is no better show that you can attend and spend four days networking with the best of the finishing industry, or see more suppliers who can handle all your finishing needs. I look forward to seeing everyone at the show. Don’t forget to stop by the CCAI Booth to see all the wonderful opportunities that CCAI can offer! So, as the sizzle of the hot summer leaves us, plan on coming to Chicago in November for FABTECH 2011. It promises to be a terrific show. See you all there!

e we are in the hot days of summer and that means we ere aare now half way through another year. But this year has bbeen anything but the same old, same old. This has been a record setting year! It all began with the extremely strong t start t of our new West Coast chapters and their great chapter programming, which led to new membership support. In June, we had our annual meeting at Mt. Hood in Portland, Oregon. Wow, what a meeting! We had record high attendance with a lot of first timers from all over the country. It sure was nice to meet and talk to everyone. Everyone had a very good time and of course, the views were terrific and the weather close to perfect. I know each year we say the programming was the greatest so far, but this year it really was the greatest. You know when a meeting goes this well, it has to have been organized by the tremendous efforts of Anne and Andy Goyer and the entire CCAI/Goyer Management staff. A big hoorah to them and a heart-felt thanks for all the hard work everyone put into this meeting. Good luck to Anne topping this one next year. Speaking of next year, the 2012 annual meeting will be in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at B Ocean. We will trade the beautiful mountain view for the sand and sun at the beach. Make your plans now to attend next year’s annual meeting and learn what is happening in the world of finishing. As we head into the second half of the year we are gearing up for another great FABTECH show. This November we’ll be at McCormick Place in Chicago, an area rich with industry members.

CCAI Annual Meeting Wrap Up T

he CCAI Annual Meeting brought members to beautiful Mt. Hood, Oregon. Along with the breath-taking views, attendees were educated and entertained with a program full of technical information and social outings that everyone enjoyed. It was definitely a huge success. “This was our most successful Annual Meeting ever,” commented CCAI Executive Director Anne Goyer. “The content of our program received the highest evaluation marks of any previous meeting, we attracted more first-timers to this year’s event and we also had more members attend this year’s Annual Meeting than any in the past.” To view the presentations for the Annual Meeting go to the MEMBERS ONLY section of the CCAI website, www.ccaiweb.com.

CCAI Annual Awards CCAI Annual Awards CCAI announced Tom McCardle as the first posthumous winner of its highest honor, The James F. Wright Lifetime Achievement award. Tom’s award was accepted by his son, Dennis McCardle of Kolene Corporation, Dennis’s wife Pam, Tom’s son-in-law John Cole of Parker Ionics, and longtime colleague Jim Malloy of Kolene. “My family is truly touched that CCAI has given its highest award to my dad,” says Dennis McCardle. “I am fortunate to be able to work at a company where I am reminded of his talents and influences every day. When we presented the award to my mother, my brother and sister and I knew it would be very emotional. She wished you could have been there to share in our celebration as my father would have been very proud of this award. Dad was always thinking so far ahead; I am sure he would be thrilled at how far CCAI has come, but I truly think he saw what it could be. Thank you again for this wonderful honor of my father and his work.” In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Chapter User and Supplier of the Year awards were presented to the members that were present. Chapters recognize a User and Supplier member for their year-long service and

FABTECH Update Bigger, Better Finishing Pavilion & Conference in Chicago!

B

y now we hope you are aware that CCAI is sponsoring the FINISHING Pavilion & Conference in Chicago from November 14 – 17 at McCormick Place. When CCAI made the decision to develop a long-term partnership with FABTECH two years ago, we did so because we wanted to offer more to our members and the finishing industry during their visit to an annual show and conference. With numerous employees now wearing many hats, we realize several things. First, chances are you are now responsible for finishing as well as other manufacturing operations in your plant. Second, we know that time and getting the best return on your trade show investment is critical to you. We know com-

That’s why FABTECH makes sense. CCAI’s FINISHING Pavilion is now the largest trade show floor for finishers in North America. With an anticipated 130 – 140 exhibiting companies showcasing the latest in paint, powder coating, plating, pretreatment and more, our FINISHING Pavilion will allow you to see more products and services for industrial finishers than anywhere else. Check out our current list of exhibitors and we think you’ll agree that FABTECH is the show you need to visit this November.

DeWys Manufacturing (pronounced De-Wise) recognizes the importance of continuous growth. The need for continuous growth and, more importantly, their customers, are the reasons they have expanded their capabilities. Instead of completing some of the work and sending components on to others to be finished, they wanted to be involved with the entire production process. DeWys Manufacturing developed a “Circle of Companies” that can deliver completed products directly to their customers. The Circle of Companies includes precision sheet metal fabrication, powder coating, stamping, assembly, machining, and DeWys International. They understand the significance of diversity and the way it reduces complication. By becoming a one-stop shop, DeWys made things easier for their customers. They will no longer have the hassle of searching for more than one company to complete a single job. Instead, they can rely on DeWys Manufacturing to accomplish every task with the highest quality standards in the most efficient manner.
