JANA’S LEGACY – TEN YEARS OF MAKING A DIFFERENCE 2018 marks the ten-year anniversary of losing Jana to an act of rela onship violence. While nothing we do will ever replace the loss of Jana, we are proud of the work that we have accomplished in her honor over the past decade. Our preven on work started in 2008, however the organiza on has ac vely tracked data since 2013. Take a look at some of our accomplishments: 58,764 middle & high school students taught prevention education!

Secondary Education JANA’S CAMPAIGN RECEIVES COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP AWARD FROM NEBRASKA TEACHERS The scope of Jana’s Campaign work con nues to expand across the state of Nebraska. Mainly partnering with Family and Consumer Science (FCS) Teachers and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) advisors, Jana’s Campaign has worked with nearly 4,500 students in Nebraska within the past year. Jana’s Campaign was awarded the 2018 Community Partnership Award at the Family and Consumer Science Teachers of Nebraska Recogni on Banquet in Kearney, NE. This award recognizes individuals or groups who support FCS educa on in Nebraska schools. Jana’s Campaign is honored to be chosen as the recipient of this award!

HAYS ARTS COUNCIL WINTER ART WALK

Jana’s Campaign is excited to announce that our Youth Advisory Council has spent this fall preparing for an exhibit at the 2018 Hays Arts Council Winter Art Walk. Styles Dance Centre will once again host the display of art crea ons from Hays High, Thomas More Prep-Marian, Ellis High, Fort Hays State University and students from other surrounding schools. The art represents the creators’ expressions of gender and rela onship violence. The 2017 spring exhibit drew incredible success and we look forward to another outstanding event.

HEALTHY YOUTH NEBRASKA CONFERENCE

On September 18, Chris e Brungardt, Ph.D., presented informa on regarding Jana’s Campaign at the Healthy Youth Nebraska Conference in Kearney, NE. In her session, Chris e provided background informa on on teen da ng violence, discussed the obliga ons K-12 schools have to address these issues, and described how schools and communi es can be er help teens recognize unhealthy rela onship behaviors and promote healthy rela onship behaviors. The goal was to leave a endees with innova ve ideas on preven ng teen da ng violence in their schools and communi es.
