Online Namibian Art Exhibit BRINGING GLOBAL AWARENESS TO GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE.
In the Name of Love â€“ Lawrence, Kansas Five pieces from the art exhibit were displayed at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS with the help of the KU Model United Nations Club. The opening program of the Lawrence exhibit was held on February 8, 2014, at the University of Kansas Memorial Union. Dr. Curt Brungardt of Janaâ€™s Campaign and Hem Matsi of Victims2Survivors attended and held a discussion on the message of the art and gender-based violence with students and faculty. After the program, the collection was moved to the Ecumenical Campus Ministries on the University of Kansas Campus and will be displayed there until March 8, 2014.
In the Name of Love - Hays, KS The opening ceremony for the majority of the collection was held in Hays, Kansas at the Hays Arts Center on the evening of February 8, 2014. In addition to the international art from Namibia, there were three pieces from China and several created by local artists. Drs. Curt and Christie Brungardt of Janaâ€™s Campaign, Brenda Meder of the Hays Arts Council, and Hem Matsi of Victims2Survivors spoke during the opening ceremony about their desire to bring awareness to the global social disease of gender-based violence.
