Why Bicycles?
The first time I got seriously in touch with planning bike infrastructure was during my most recent internship in Columbus, Ohio. I enjoy cycling, myself, and I believe in the many advantages of this mode of transportation. This is why I want to encourage more people to bicycle.
Currently I‘m writing my Masters Thesis for my degree. It is titled: “Integrated Network planning of bicycle traffic between urban and suburban city centers: Analysis as an example of Dresden with a comparison of the network planning of Columbus”

Why Bicycles? I was raised riding a bicycle. During my childhood, I spent weekends in my father’s bicycle trailer. Then when I was old enough, we went on tandem rides together. Lived in Grenaa, DK as Rotary Exchange student when I was 16-years-old , and suddenly, I saw that the bicycle could be for more than recreation & sport.
Soon, I will begin my Masters Thesis and Professional Project for the City of Bellevue, currently entitled: “A Corridor Study on 108th Avenue NE: Downtown Bellevue’s Multi-Modal Corridor”

What is a...: Bicycle Super Highway ? A Bicycle Super Highway is a bicycle routes where commuters have the highest priority. This means they are able to “surf the green wave� during rush hour with as few stops as possible. These routes are as direct as possible, offering the most efficient and most convenient way to get from Point A to Point B.
What is a...: Bicycle Super Highway ? Super Highway routes are comfortable, easy to use, and offer a high degree of rider safety. To that end, there is legible and recognizable wayfinding signage that is installed at a height visible to cyclists. Highway are equipped with bicycle traffic lights, bicycle counters, bicycle pumps, and have smooth and color treated pavement. Moreover, there are pavement markings on the ground to help bicyclists easily navigate themselves.
What is a...: Bicycle Super Highway ? The municipality is in charge of ensuring maintenance of the highway facilities year-round. It is also the municipality’s responsibility to collaborate with the neighboring areas to plan for and provide good bicycle connections across municipal boundary lines.
What is a...: Bicycle Super Highway ? A Super Highway should connects nerve centers, such as residential areas, educational facilities, job centers, and public transportation nodes. The goal is to provide a high-quality commute experience which encourages more people to travel by bicycle more often. This goal can help a municipality reduce traffic congestion, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and avoid overcrowding on public transportation.
