This is my Master Thesis submitted to the University of Washington for my concurrent graduate degrees in Urban Planning and Public Administration. My primary research question explores whether/how bicyclists stop at stop sign controlled intersections. With the help of volunteers, this body of work analyses data collected on 2,616 bicyclists in the City of Seattle in November 2014. Using this data, my research further considers if there is any rationale for adjusting the traffic laws in Washington State to either allow for rolling stops or otherwise make more explicit what the law considers a "stop" for bicyclists.
